nomination but bernie sanders is still promising to fight her all hillary clinton might still be locked in a primary fight with bernie sanders. but this morning, she is fighting off attacks on multiple fronts. >> you are entitled to your opinion but you're not entitled to your own facts. >> reporter: clinton going head-to-head with a heckler in the crowd. >> and, you know, it's time people stop listening to republican propaganda about the economy, education and health care. >> reporter: overnight, a pro-clinton super pac releasing its first anti-trump ad to run in general election battleground states and using his own words against him. >> blood coming out of her wherever. >> does she have a good body, no. does she have a fat ass, absolutely. >> you can tell them to go [ [ bleep ] themselves. >> does donald trump really speak for you? >> reporter: clinton says she's looking forward to facing trump on the debate stage. >> let's just imagine i'm on a debate stage with donald trump.

now, personally, i am really looking forward to it. >> reporter: clinton mocking the presumptive gop nominee. >> so, let's suppose -- here's the question, what is your plan to create jobs? his answer is, i'm going to create them. they're going to be great. i know how to do it. but i'm not telling you what it is i'm going to do. >> reporter: and now, she's looking beyond election day saying that, when it comes to the economy, she has just the person in mind to help her in the white house. >> my husband, who i'm going to put in charge of revitalizing the economy, because, you know, he knows how to do it. >> reporter: the clinton campaign is now downplaying those comments. saying it would be getting ahead of one's self to talk about any kind of a role for bill in a hillary clinton administration

but it sounds like she's been thinking about it. >> just a little bit, cecilia, thank you. let's move now to the republicans and the major fallout from that "new york times" article questioning donald trump's treatment of women. abc's jon karl joins us now from washington with the latest and, jon, trump now threatening to sue that newspaper. >> reporter: good morning, amy. that's right. his lawyers are saying a lawsuit is a distinct possibility. in the meantime, he has been on an all-out twitter storm against "the times." one typical tweet, no wonder "the new york times" is failing. who can believe what they write after the false, malicious and libelous story they did on me. of course, the trump campaign has been given a gift by "the times." the woman who is the lead anecdote in that story has come out to say that she was misled, that "the times" mischaracterized what she had to say and that she has only good things to say about her relationship with donald trump. >> and, jon, we just saw in cecilia's piece that onslaught of ads about to hit trump. his opponents gearing up to spend $6 million in just the next few weeks. how is team trump preparing to respond?

>> reporter: yeah, and it's even more than that because they have committed to spending over $10 -- over $130 million after the primaries are over. the trump campaign begins this vastly outgunned by all of the traditional metrics for campaigns and they have very little money in the bank for any of this. there is no trump super pac up and running although there are two that are now being formed. trump will respond to this the way he responded during the primaries, when he is hit, he hits back times ten. nothing off-limits but, right now, he'll be fighting through social media and through his own statements, he is way behind the democrats on this. they have been preparing for a long time to take him on. >> all right, jon karl, we appreciate it. george, a lot still to talk about. >> there sure is. and we've got matthew dowd is here along with republican strategist kellyanne conway and, matthew, let me begin with those ads that the super pac supporting hillary clinton is bringing up.

as jon just said they're going to spend about $130 million over the next eight months and the target here is not trump voters, those hard-core trump voters but suburban women, moderates, will it be effective? >> well, i think what the goal is not to actually move women in the course of this because donald trump is doing so poorly right now among women, it's to create a barrier that is solid that donald trump can't get over to get back in a competitive race with hillary clinton among those women so it's actually to create a solid barrier. i actually think donald trump has made a smart move which is don't respond to this with paid advertising. respond to this by going on the air by doing interviews. it's a much more genuine response to paid advertising and it worked in the primaries. we'll see if it works in the general election. >> that is the big question and, kellyanne, we have seen in the past these efforts to define a candidate relatively early in the process have been effective. >> yes, they've been very effect. in fact i think both mitt romney and john mccain lost their summers against president obama both times, george, because they failed to respond really until the fall and when you cement those views in people's minds early, it can be effective. i actually think mr. trump is

doing something very wise here, which is he knows silence is acquiescence in politics and is fighting back and knows in some ways hillary clinton is operating from a position of weakness right now. you have democrats and democratic senators openly discussing laying bare her vulnerabilities, unlikability, untrustworthiness and articles just this week saying we don't know how to cure the patient, we don't know how to improve that. it's smart they're going after it but i think "the new york times" piece created sympathy for donald trump. you have women, including businesswomen he hired saying, look, i had a great relationship. he gave me a shot and what they said was false. >> okay, kellyanne, matthew dowd, thanks very much. back to amy. now to that other big story, all the severe weather, at least seven reported tornadoes tearing through the heartland as the east sees more than 7 inches of snow. rob marciano here with all the latest. good morning, rob. >> remarkable stuff, amy, a sprawling system stretching from the east back to the west and we've got severe thunderstorms right now that are rolling across the i-35 corridor into dallas. but last night, these storms were here and they hit the panhandle hard. overnight, ripping winds and

damaging hail hammering texas. in just seconds windshields shattering. several funnel clouds sprouting in oklahoma, another in new mexico, and in parts of new england, the snow returns. in maine, a record-breaking spring snowstorm. with summer just a month away, people are digging out. over 6 inches of snow on the ground. and after steady rain for the first two weeks of may in our nation's capital, newly released video shows this terrifying moment a wall barely missing that suv. investigators believe all the recent rain may have caused the foundation to give way. and in arizona, interstate 10 shut down as this dust cloud made driving impossible. the severe threat today gets into more populated areas of texas, san antonio and austin, could see a tornado and some large hail and a lot of this mess, watch the rain and thunderstorms fire up across the

southeast and some rain getting up into the northeast. so east of the mississippi a bit of a mess as well. >> thank you. we turn to a midair scare overnight. passengers on a flight headed for chicago experienced severe turbulence injuring several on board. abc's david kerley is at reagan national airport with the latest. good morning, david. >> reporter: good morning, george. it was pretty early into this flight, a southwest flight, that the turbulence hit and among those injured, some of the crew. >> not sure of the amount of passengers that are injured. >> reporter: the southwest flight from boston to chicago returned overnight after that severe turbulence injured at least four on board, including two flight attendants. >> at that time there were three or four other people on the plane that were throwing up and another flight attendant because of the turbulence. >> reporter: the plane left logan about 11:00 last night, less than an hour into the flight and all that turbulence, the pilot turned around. >> sir, we also have another medical. can you meet ems at the crash gate? >> the southwest staff was fantastic. they were really, really good at making everybody calm. >> reporter: in this case with flight attendants injured even

some passengers pitched in to help. this incident just the latest in a series of extreme turbulence. just last week, at least eight passengers were injured when a jetblue plane traveling from puerto rico to orlando experienced rough air. and earlier this month, 31 were injured when severe turbulence struck this jet. now, southwest tells us that the fasten seat belt sign was on at the time that they hit that turbulence and they got back to boston logan and took care of the injured passengers. more flight members came on. the plane wasn't damaged and it continued on to chicago, amy. >> all right, david, thanks so much. we have another travel headline for you. new details about what caused a train crash in philadelphia that killed eight people last year. sources close to the investigation say the engineer was distracted before the crash paying too much attention to radio messages about a rock throwing incident on a nearby track. investigators say he lost track of where he was on the tracks and then mistakenly accelerated barreling into a treacherous

curve at 106 miles an hour, that was twice the speed limit. and there is mounting frustration at airports across the country. endless lines, thousands missing their flights, some even forced to stay overnight. but wait until you hear what some airports are doing. they are taking extreme measures to calm angry passengers, even bringing in some animals. abc's steve osunsami is at hartsfield-jackson international airport in atlanta. this is a wild one, steve. >> reporter: it is, amy. we've seen this line this morning stretch through this atrium and this is a good day. the tsa this morning is now promising to hire between 600 and 800 new tsa agents, but the union that represents the security officers says that won't nearly be enough and that the number they need is more like 6,000. passengers have had it up to here and are posting videos all over the internet of the crazy long lines at the nation's airports to shame tsa. >> are you [ bleep ] kidding me, tsa? >> reporter: with wait times as long as three hours in some

places, it's no surprise people are missing flights. >> like crazy. there should be some solution for this. >> reporter: in chicago 450 passengers who paid good money had to spend the night sleeping on cots after the last flight out left without them. >> not the greatest. could have used a bed. that would have been nice. >> just always a hassle. >> reporter: the airport authorities are caught in the middle. in denver, they're planning to sweeten up passengers offering them candy in line. seattle and atlanta, musical performances with snacks. in cincinnati, miniature therapy horses to help calm your nerves. and in san diego, they're bringing in the clowns. >> there's got to be a better way. >> reporter: this morning, lawmakers are calling on the airlines to drop baggage fees and maybe add more canines in security to speed things along. >> you don't have to take off your coat or your belt or shoes because they can smell any explosive. >> reporter: this is what the line looks like this morning. i can tell you again that this is not nearly as long as it has

you think i'm crazy? do i look crazy? >> reporter: tampa police were attempting to apprehend mayo for a mental health evaluation last week when he grabbed a gun and his camera phone. mayo urging facebook followers to call 911 after police lobbed tear gas through a window. >> i know there's ten people watching this. so call 911 and say, uh, officer, what the [ bleep ] is wrong with you? >> reporter: but police are watching the livestream too. >> we knew that he had a weapon and he was addressing us pretty directly. >> reporter: as the s.w.a.t. team moves in mayo opens fire. >> that's right. i shot two [ bleep ] shots. >> reporter: after being overcome by the tear gas, the four-hour standoff ends peacefully. >> you're on live -- sorry. >> reporter: mayo apologizing as he turns himself into police outside his home. mayo has not been criminally charged. he was taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.

for somebody who's never been incarcerated for one hour, two months can be a very long time. >> reporter: the judge reinstating the former star student's bail monday afternoon allowing labrie to be released with one condition. >> electronic monitoring with gps tracking at the defendant's expense. >> reporter: the 20-year-old at the center of a high-profile prep school rape trial walking into the courtroom in chains. his orange jumpsuit a stark difference from his usual clean-cut attire and thick-framed glasses. labrie had been out on bail as he appealed his sex assault conviction against a 15-year-old girl while both were students at the prestigious st. paul's school. >> i was raped. >> reporter: he spent the last two months in a new hampshire jail, most of that time in solitary confinement. a judge revoking his bail when a reporter tweeted that she saw him on a train, prosecutors say he violated his curfew. but just last week the state supreme court urged the judge to rethink that decision saying

though serious there was no inclination of further criminal conduct. rethinking is exactly what the judge did. >> i expect compliance. i think mr. labrie knows what's going to happen. i don't think there's any question what's going to happen. >> reporter: and it'll take a few days before owen labrie is officially released but his lawyers say he already has a job lined up but we're only told it's manual labor. george. >> okay, gio, thanks. let's talk to dan abrams about this, we talked about this last week. the supreme court made a suggestion and the judge took it. >> yeah the supreme court made a specific suggestion. basically saying there are real issues here on appeal and we think that you can craft this in a way that he will abide by the bail conditions. the judge accepted it. moved forward. but let's remember, we're talking about bail, that's it. when we say he got out after two months -- look, you can make an argument that he never should have been behind bars on -- without bail before.

you can hate owen labrie. you can believe owen labrie should have gotten a stiffer sentence. you can believe that owen labrie should have been convicted on all of the other charges, but that's not what bail is for. bail is to make sure someone is showing up in court pending the appeal because even the supreme court has said that he has real issues on appeal. >> what does this mean for his appeal? >> look, it means the supreme court's language is very helpful to his appeal. the supreme court basically saying he wasn't -- we think that there is a real issue here that he wasn't able to cross-examine a critical witness. that's a huge signal from the supreme court and i think that's one of the most important things enforcing this judge to grant bail. >> okay, dan abrams, thanks very much. all right, and now to that mystery surrounding sinead o'connor's sudden disappearance. the singer failing to return from a bike ride. chicago police scouring a suburb for her before finally trackin her down and abc's alex perez has the latest. >> reporter: this morning, the frantic search for singer/songwriter sinead o'connor is over. suburban chicago police saying

she has been found and is safe but won't say what led her to go missing for more than 24 hours. >> a doctor called here and said that one of her patients, sinead o'connor, should be at [ muted ]. caretakers are looking for her. she said she was going to harm herself. >> reporter: the 49-year-old who catapulted to fame with her hit single "nothing compares to u" -- ♪ nothing compares to u >> reporter: was reported missing sunday after leaving for a bicycle ride about 6:00 a.m. three hours later posting a rambling message on facebook about a custody dispute over one of her sons. investigators combing the area. >> missing suicidal woman, suffers from ptsd and depression. >> reporter: finally locating her at a nearby hotel. >> the subject has been located and is okay at this time. >> reporter: the grammy award winner just last year causing a panic when she posted on facebook, i have taken an overdose.

residents from returning home. and finally, some mothers just know how to stop traffic and grab attention like this momma bear in anchorage. one of her cubs was not listening to her instructions, so mom grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and the other cub quickly got that message and followed. as for the drivers who were delayed, they just waited grinning and bearing it. george, that was for you. >> thank you. i appreciate that, amy. we're going to move on now to an important health alert. summer is coming and "consumer reports" is out with their new guide to sunscreens and their tests found that popular brands performed significantly below their advertised sun protection levels. abc news chief medical health editor dr. richard besser is here with more on this. surprising to me. >> yeah, very surprising. so, "consumer reports" looked at -- they looked at 65 lotions, sprays and sticks and they all had an spf of 30 or higher. 43% of them performed lower than what was on the label. and that's very concerning. an spf is your sun protection

factor, so it tells you how good this product is at protecting you from the uvb rays which can cause burn and set you up for sunscreen and an spf of 30 allows you to stay out in the sun 30 times longer than without anything else without burning and this is very surprising. >> some were far below the spf numbers. >> some of the products they looked at for children that had an spf of 30 or 50 were coming in at the level of 8 and that's way below what you should really see. >> and not getting close to what you expect there. >> 15 is what you should be shooting for. but if people use them properly, it wouldn't be such an issue. you know, if you put it on 15 minutes before you go outside, use a full ounce every time you apply it and put it on every two hours, the spf value becomes much less important but people are using a lot less. for a family of four, if you're going to the beach for four hours, you're going to have to apply sunscreen twice, so over the course of the day your whole family would use eight ounces of sunscreen. that's an entire bottle. i know people very well who stretch a bottle for an entire season. >> yeah, you cannot do that. we're also hearing a lot more

about these natural sunscreens. >> yeah, so, there's a sense people have that natural is better. but there's no defined way of describing what is natural. and what you're looking for is safer, and when it comes to sunscreen safer is preventing burns and preventing sunscreen so i'm not a fan of natural. the fda doesn't have a definition on that and other things that people are using that aren't necessarily safer are the spray on sunscreens because it's hard to know how much you're really putting on. >> so, what should parents look for? >> well, there's something easy to remember. it's a simple slip, slop, slap, wrap. so, slip on a shirt. slop on a sunscreen that's at least a 15. you don't have to go any higher than 50. slap on a wide hat and then put on wrap-on sunglasses. >> slip, slop, slap, wrap. >> that's the way to do it. we reached out to all the companies that were tested by "consumer reports" and they said that the ones that got back to us that the "consumer reports" is not using the fda approved protocol and their products do better with that. >> okay, rich besser, thanks so much. you'll take questions on twitter. >> all morning.

gears now to that very important health headline out there. a new report revealing nearly half of people who have heart attacks have no idea they had them. dr. ashton is here with more on that and the study found that silent heart attacks are more common in men but more deadly in women. why? >> exactly so the study looked at three questions, amy. how common are these silent heart attacks? how serious are they when we compare them to the classic heart attacks and are there differences based on race and gender? very important when we're looking at heart disease. what it found was about 45% of all heart attacks are silent. these often go unrecognized, undiagnosed and untreated. it triples the risk of death after that event and black women had the highest risk so, again, there are limitations. we need to study different ethnic groups but here big headline. >> so how can you find out? how do you know if you've had a silent heart attack? >> so diagnosis and prevention. this is often diagnosed with an ecg or ekg, simple electrocardiogram of the heart. but to be clear, not everyone is recommended to get one, so we still have to flush that out. prevention is key. 80% of heart disease is preventable. eating a heart healthy diet,

whether we're going to invest or not. it's how you dress. i mean look at you. you look really well put together. very conservative. right? it's the look and it's not just how you dress it's how you stand, how you sit. the cadence of your voice, all of those things. >> and then how about with careers? this is the one that surprised so many of us. there's actually a best day to ago for a raise? >> it's all about timing. you got to know when the right time is. it's better to ask for a raise at the end of the week of the it's actually better to sell your value than to ask for a raise. >> what does that mean? >> go in and tell them what a great job you're doing. make the other side offer you the money. when you ask for money you're only going to get so many. when you sell value you're going to get more. >> you're saying go in well before your performance review. >> go in well before. you always got to be selling. always. >> and then finally third tip, know how the score is being kept. what does that mean. >> well, you know, it's one thing i learned on "dancing with the stars," you have to know how to sell yourself and how people are junking you.

kym taught me that. you have to sell yourself to the audience. i asked her how do you know when people can't dance. she said to me it's in their eyes. people that can't dance look like they're lost. their eyes are everywhere. and that was me. it took a while for me to understand that and sell myself to the audience. before i teach you to sell, i have to teach you who to sell to. understand your audience. >> did being on "shark tank" make you a better businessman? >> being on "shark tank" made me a better salesperson because i learned the art of the pitch. i was always pretty good at sales and that's another thing, george. people always think i wish i was born like you to be able to talk to people. when i was 20 years old i couldn't even talk to my own shadow. you can make yourself better at seas. you can become a better business -- person. >> robert herjavec, thank so much. the book is out today and the season finale of "shark tank" airs this friday here on abc. when we come back those livestream workouts. ♪ all day ♪
