activity. today looks to be the wetter day out of the two over the weekend. we'll talk more about sunshine and when we're going to warm up in a few minutes. chris? >> lisa, thanks. developing news, crews are fighting a destructive four-alarm fire. at least six businesses have burned near 73rd and macarthur not too far from the eastmont town center. the fire is contained but not controlled. crews have been at the scene since 1:30 and are putting out hot spots. there are no reports of any injuries but the cause remains under investigation. in developing news out of san jose, two people have been shot and taken to the hospital. we know one of them is a 20-year-old man. the shooting happened at around 12:30 this morning near ram bellwood park. police marked the spots where they found bullet casings. the suspect is believed to have run from the scene through the park. we have a call in to the san jose police for more details. crews are at the scene of a grass fire this morning. they're on the lookout for hot

spots. strong winds forced people to evacuate from structures not knowing where it's going to spread. >> reporter: with the wind, it could have been worse. crews will stay on the scene at this cul-de-sac to make sure embers don't rekindle. the flames roared to life at 3:45 friday afternoon. from what fairfield police say was a homeless encampment along this hiking trail. i grabbed a hose and tried to put it out because my fence was on fire and then i watched my garage burn down with all the tools in it. >> the winds started picking up. i seen it travel from tree to tree and it got here and caused the house to really go up. >> reporter: these are the trees that passed the flames like a torch toward the houses. within minutes another house was on fiefrmt three structures

severely damaged but no one injured. many rescued pets and belongings. >> it was pretty chaotic. lots of smoke, lots of flames, lots of people yelling, get people out, officers banging on people's doors. >> reporter: the four-alarm fire was under control within an hour, but smoke and fear still linger in the neighborhood. in fairfield, i'm leslie brinkley, "abc7 news." 25 people are out of their homes after a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in bay point. it started yesterday afternoon around 2:00 on shore view court. no one was hurt. investigators have not determined how the fire started. in kahtani, take a look at this video showing a tree crashing down on two power poles knocking out power to 140 customers. power has since been restored. gusty winds may have been a factor. and those powerful winds were

the story on friday. more than 40 flights were canceled at san francisco international and there were other wind-related problems across the area. abc 7 news reporter has the story. >> reporter: friday night flights were delayed at sfo because of the wind. where are you headed to? >> l.a. >> reporter: okay. are you delayed? >> we're very delayed. >> reporter: he left at least an hour behind schedule. wind gusts pushed air traffic controls to delay flights taking off. 44 flights were canceled. cincinnati's resident jonathan joyce decided to watch the planes. >> that's why i'm here. >> reporter: in san mateo this tree branch snapped and knocked out power to one home. in san francisco, the southbound lane of the great highway was closed because of sand dunes blowing onto the asphalt.

pending an investigation of the shooting. >> b.a.r.t. has agreed to pay $1.35 million in a lawsuit accusing officers of excessive force. on march 17th, officers arrested a girl. she took her to the jail where officers are seen on video slamming her head into the ground. the fall broke bones in sheehan's face. last week reuters reported a plan for i.c.e. to round up people from central america whose asylum requests were denied. they would be arrested around then deported. sources say the raids would begin in late may and last for about a month. they have a large number of immigrants and want fro text them whether they're documented or not. >> deported families is not going really fings the immigration system. mainly women and children are coming here illegally is because

abc 7's laura anthony has more. >> reporter: the long lines at tsa check points around the country has pushed many to the web to sign up for precheck even if it means forking over extra money. >> have you visited chicago yet? >> no, i have not. i hasn't had an opportunity to sleep the in the erraairport fo long time, and i don't want that. >> reporter: according to tsa, the number of prechecks has doubled in a month. right now it takes about a two weeks from applicants to get their coveted known travel number but the tsa warns it can take up to 30 days. those who have applied say it's worth the $85 for five years. >> i came out of portland. there was a very long line in security but the precheck line was probably only five people deep. >> reporter: meanwhile oakland international will bring in extra workers next month to help move things along at the

checkpoint. >> those guys will do the ve vestiture support. meaning take off your shoes, put the laptops in. >> reporter: they've asked the tsa to add its own staff to cut down on the wait time that's been as long as two hours. all that will help but the best advice from travelers we talked with, spring for tsa precheck. >> it was wonderful. it saved a lot of times. makes things a lot easier. a group of visitors at facebook won't be liking this. 12 people were stuck in an elevator there yesterday. the president shared this video of the jaws of life finally forcing the elevator doors open after more than an hour and a half. the malfunction happened in facebook build 20g at menlo

park. they theyed firefighters and called it a facebook visit she'll never forget. 8:13 is the time. school placement has been an ongoing issue in san francisco which doesn't have neighborhood schools. students might live miles away from their assigned school. one family reached out to us because of their unusual circumstances. we have their story. >> reporter: for years san francisco parents have waited anxiously to find out where their kids will go to school. many public school students in the city are not assigned to their neighborhood school and end up at another location. >> of course, we want all the brothers to be together. they're very close. >> reporter: brittney o'sullivan's case is even more complicated. one of her children already attends dianne feinstein school a block away but the twins were assigned miles from home even though the siblings were not given priority. >> not only did you not put them in, you put them in another

school at the same time. i can't possibly be there. >> reporter: they have adopted an admissions formula that allows kids in different neighborhoods to attend some of the top performing schools in the city. that has brought more diversity to the schools and the district says a better academic outcome for some of the underserved students. the superintendent says parents shouldn't give up. >> i would encourage any parent that doesn't get an assignment they would like or to try to change the assignment to contact our enrollment office, etc, and come in and speak with a counsel lore. >> but o'sullivan has already gone down to the district to fill out the wait pool form. a counselor suggested she fill out a medical form to increase the chances. one twin had been an operation. >> i don't think i need to do

average temperatures even into next week, so this is one area of low pressure to the north of us that will be spreading these showers throughout the morning hours. 11:00, notice, pretty much anywhere from vallejo to san mateo, redwood city, san jose, and sunnyvale, you can see some showers. even throughout the evening hours if you have plans, you could see a shower over in hayward and cupertino. rain shower amounts, we talk about how light it's going to be. possibly better don't think you're going to have rainout but you'd dodge a few showers there, temperatures dropping into the upper 50s. the game starts at 4:15. in and around the bay today, numbers as much as 10 to 12 degrees below late may readings.
