>> announcer: live from the kgo-tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. good afternoon, an thank you for joining us. i'm ama daetz. >> i'm dan ashley. >> reporter: i'm larry biel. we're live at oracle arena where it is must win do or die game five for the warriors tonight, a series of life reports coming up. >> thanks, larry. well, starting our news today, an intense manhunt is under way in novato. sky7 hd was there as one person was arrest and the search is on for two others accused of shooting and stabbing two students, one was killed. >> it began at 5:30, the victim wars found near the golf course. today one suspect was artsed on roeland avenue. vic lee has been following the story. se live with the very latest. >> reporter: we are at the

intersection of roeland boulevard and leafwood avenue. let's just go straight to sky7 hd for a closer look on what's behind me. s.w.a.t. teams are about to converge on an apartment complex on the 1400 block of leafwood avenue. they're here looking for other suspects in the shooting last night near novato high school. earlier, s.w.a.t. teams raided a home just a couple of blocks from here. marin sheriff and novato police s.w.a.t. teams surrounded the house on the 400 block of roeland boulevard shortly after 2:00 this afternoon. they went in and arrested one of three suspects in last night's shootings of two students near novato high school. both were stabbed and shot. one was wounded, but he was able to call police. >> the first victim who called 911 to the local law enforcement and identified what he believes to be three suspects, hispanic males involved in the case. >> reporter: while the young man was being transported to the hospital, authorities found the

body of a second victim in a crate down a hiking trail near a water fall. he was also stabbed and shot. meese are still looking for two other suspects. >> we were hopeful that we would get more than just one person here at this house, but for us that just means that our search will continue. it doesn't stop here. >> reporter: these are shots of the arrest from sky7 hd. authorities have not identified him. they also say the motive is still unclear. but they have said that the victim who was wounded provided a lot of information on his attackers. again, we are live with sky7 hd at the intersection of roeland boulevard and leafwood avenue. s.w.a.t. teams are getting into place as they are about to converge on an apartment complex on the 1400 block of leafwood. this is all connected apparently to the shooting last night of two students at novato high school. and they have arrested, again, one suspect. they are looking for two others. they're hoping that both of them

are in this apartment complex. so that's the very latest but stay tuned because things are unfolding very quickly. vic lee, abc 7 news. >> they are, vic. thanks very much. breaking news, the search for this missing teenage girl was shifted now from solano county to the central coast. a car connected to 15-year-old pearl peninsulaen has been located in santa barbara county. a shootout also broke out in sul vain. police have pinned down a suspect on the central coast. we do not know yet his identify. we are hearing there is no sign of pearl. the man you see on the right 19-year-old fernando castro is suspected of kidnapping pearl pinten and hurting her yesterday morning. sheriff's deputies began searching for pearl after a witness saw her calling for help. that person claims castro pulled a gun on pearl in vallejo. >> we know them to have been acquainted, but we don't have any information leading that they were boyfriend/girlfriend

or had any rocky relationship. >> we are very concerned about her well-being. finding her and getting her medical attention if needed is our number one priority right now. >> an amber alert went out today as the search for pearl and castro widened. when detectives identified a car linked to the case in solano cou county. we'll keep you updated during this newscast at 5:00 and 6:00 as well and on our app. >> a man accused of setting his house in vallejo on fire killing his 5-year-old son and youring the boy's mother went before a judge this afternoon. but a solano county judge postponed the case after shoemake waved his right to be arraigned today. he turned himself in to police his arraign emt set for next week. the mayors of five east bay cities are trying to stop a rash of shootings on local freeways. they're sending a letter to the governor requesting help. there have been 28 shootings since november. four people have been killed, 12

injured. >> we in government have to ensure that our residents and the public feel that they're safe. i feel this is the first step. this is about public safety today. >> the mayors are asking for money to install cameras on exit ramp that's would photograph license plates. they're also looking for funding to upgrade current caltrans cameras so they can start recording traffic. turning to the race for the white house, democratic candidate hillary clinton is in the bay area today again. she's expected to be in san francisco anytime now. >> earlier today she was at parkside hall in san jose. abc 7 news reporter david louie was there as well and joins us live. >> reporter: dan and ama, hillary clinton had a much larger crowd here than yesterday in salinas and her message was clearly focused on party unity, the message that democrats need to be unified in order to defeat donald trump come november. >> with that in mind, the only person --

>> we apologize. we are having some technical difficult 'tis there. we do want to tell you that abc 7 news reporter david louie was actually live tweeting today's campaign event in san jose and you can follow him on twitter@abc 7 david. bernie sanders meantime took aim at donald trump today during a campaign rally in ventura. sanders repeated his desire to debate trump and announced that it appears trump is prepared to accept the challenge. >> and i'm very excited about it, and i'll even have to rent out the largest stadium you have here in california. >> trump says he is willing to debate and wants each candidate to put up $10 million to $15 million for charity. sanders' campaign manager says he hopes that trump does not, quote, chicken out. meantime, donald trump has now earned enough delegates to clinch the republican party

bay hills camera west ward toward the coast. 77 right now at santa rosa napa 75 novato 80 at fairfield, 78 at livermore. and tonight big game at oracle arena over at oak land, the warriors taking on the oklahoma city thunder. this is a must-win game for the warriors and weather shouldn't be an obstacle to your getting to the game on time. at 6:00 this evening, sunny and mild in oakland, about 66 degrees, later in the evening down to about 60 but under clear skies. so going to and from the game should be no problem. let's hope the warriors win. i'll have a look at our memorial day weekend forekaest in a moment. >> thanks, spencer. stanley cup fever is building in san jose. today they showed off the clarence campbell trophy they earned last night by beating the st. louis blues paving the way to the first ever trip to the stanley cup finals. fans lined up to get inside the shashgsz store to pick up anything with the words stenly cup or western conference champs on it.

the place is packed. the finals begin next week. the winner of the pittsburgh/tampa bay series will be decided tonight. all right, it is do or die time for the warriors tonight. no more fooling around. >> abc 7 news sports director larry biel is live at oracle where the team is getting ready for tonight's vital game. larry? >> reporter: yeah, i like that dan. no more fooling around. let's get serious with this for a change. they have been serious as okc is really good. and we were expecting especially after the record setting 73-9 season that the warriors would be be playing well into june and make it to the nba finals. but the grim reality is, tonight could be the final night of the nba season here in the bay area on may 26th. don't want to really spend a lot of time delling on that, but players are warm p up. draymond green is out here. in fact, he's right behind me as we speak. and draymond has said and it really didn't get a lot of traction kind of surprisingly that one of the things that's happened in this severs is that

louie. >> reporter: close to 1,000 people welcomed hillary clinton back to san jose. they lined up along market street, some of them already counting their mail ballot such as carol whee land. >> i've got four voters in the family, one republican hasn't voted. my daughter and i have voted. my son voted for bernie. come november we're all voted for hillary. >> reporter: others are decided as the apply marry approaches. >> you're on the fence right now? >> yes, i am. but i really think that a lot of good she has to say is really re real. >> reporter: supporters of bernie sanders were here, too, hillary calling for unity. >> so we are going to be coming together as a unified democratic party. senator sanders and i, our supporters, together have so much more in common than we do with donald trump! >> reporter: that resonated with robbie curren.

the most polluted for the third year in the row. one reason is animal feces. the water quality is improving overall. one reason is the drought, which has translated into less polluted runoff. the another city, cities are taking beach pollution seriously. >> a lot of coastal counties are investing in infrastructure to better retain storm water on site. that means there's less water getting to the ocean and dl thereby impact the beachgoer health. >> i know you're wondersing the other two local beaches on the most polluted list, number eight candlestick point which doesn't get enough water circulation to disperse bacteria. similar problem for number nine, pillar point in half moon bay. located right next to a lagoon. now a look at some of the bay area's cleanest beaches, baker beach in san francisco, mon tara state beach in san mateo county, alameda point, dylan beach in marin county, and just about every beach in sonoma county. to keep your families safe and

or exceed 90 degrees during this span of time and we'll have mild afternoons at the beaches. and right now it is 9 degrees warmer than it was at this hour yesterday in antioch and livermore 7 degrees warmer in novato. you can see all the inland areas are several degrees warmer than at this time yesterday and will be even warmer tomorrow. overnight it will be relatively mild with low temperatures mainly in the low to mid 50s little patches of clowes and fog near the bay. here's our forecast animation by 8: fog. later in the day it just disappears giving way to sunny skies from coast to inland all the way through the day and into the evening hours. and that of course is an indicator of the warmth to come our way. highs will range tomorrow from mrooid 60s at theçó c]aqt to upr 70s and low 80s around the bay to just about 90 in the warmest inland spots. but on saturday, it will be even warmer. we'll see mid-60s to low 70s on the coast, low 80s in some

bayside bay shore locations and low to mid-nichbts inland. now, on sunday there will be a little bit of a weak sea breeze which will bring coastal temperatures down a little bit but it won't affect the inland warming. we'll still see highs up to 90 in fairfield, 93 at antioch and then monday the warmest day in the three day holiday weekend memorial day we'll see high temperatures inland 93 at clear lake livermore and fairfield, 92 at concord, 97 at antioch, 91 at san jose, upper 70s to mid-80s around the bay and upper 60s to mid-70s on the coast. it is going to be a gloriously lovely memorial day. here we go with the accuweather seven-day forecast. notice temperatures at or above 90 degrees in our inland locations all the way through tuesday. we'll see low to mid-80s around the bay and mid to upper 60s, even 70s on the coast. we'll get a little bit of a cooldown on wednesday of next week and a few coastal clouds will return. then there will be further cooling on thursday of next week. it is a lovely seven days ahead.

>> announcer: abc 7 news starts right now with live breaking news. and that breaking news in marin county. minutes ago sky7 hd got this video of police taking a young man into custody at the leafwood apartments in novato near roe lapd boulevard and redwood boulevard. it's believed this young man is a suspect in last night's double shooting and stabbing in novato country's club neighborhood. we saw a similar arrest of a young man at 2:30 this afternoon

just a couple blocks from this scene. police believe there are a total of three suspects in last night's violence which left one no vaught high school dead and one seriously jurisdiction. vic lee will bring you updates and we'll have them for you on abc 7 news live at 5 and 6 and on our news app. also making headlines today at 4:tlif, hillary clinton is making a campaign swipg through the bay area right now. an event is getting under way right now. just a couple of hours ago, lieutenant governor gafrn newsom introduced her at parkside hall in san jose where she asked voters in the south bay for their support. it wasn't just clinton backers at the event. david louie tweeted this picture of berpy sanders supporters lined up across the street. also at 5, the latest on an amber alert for a missing girl taigen from vallejo. a reporter with our abc affiliate in santa barbara says the suspect was involved in a

shootout in santa barbara county. and there is no sign of the missing girl. and developing news off the coast of north carolina where two planes crashed in the u.s. coast guard and good samaritans came to the rescue. here's abc 7 news anchor kristen s sze. >> reporter: the u.s. coast guard and fishermen on board a commercial ball named jamie are being applauded for efforts pulling four navy crew members out of the ocean after their fa-18 super hornets crashed in a training exercise off the coast of north carolina. >> they were flying off cape hatteras about 25 miles southeast of oregon inlet when they were involved in an in-flight mishap at approximately 10:40 local time today rfrnlt amazing 30 rly, only minor injury is, the four men taken to norfolk general hospital. >> the flight was part of a routine training mission. all the air crew have been recovered safely. >> reporter: the good samaritan fisherman rescued all four and pulled them onto their boat . >> we really appreciate any time

a good samaritan vessel can help someone on the water in need. this a great way to show how mariners give back to people in distress. >> reporter: while this training day is one these pilots won't soon forget, the rescue is being described as textbook. >> it couldn't have gone better. it just kind of shows the interservice cooperation between the navy and coast guard. >> reporter: kristen sze, abc 7 news. the navy confirms the crews ejected from their planes and survived the impact. well, more trouble for the tsa today. more delays as the senate homeland security committee questions tsa officials. all of this of course as we head into the busy memorial day weekend. here's abc 7 news reporter adrienne bankert. >> reporter: a brief issue delaying passengers to l.a.x. today, equipment failure halting incoming flights to los angeles with planes stalled on the tarm tarmac. the issue quickly resolved. at jfk, jetblue customers facing frustrating computer issues. it comes at a tumultuous time, the eve of the busy memorial day weekend and following disastrous

lines snaking through terminals at some of the busiest airports in the country due to a tsa breakdown. the department of homeland security in the hot seat, facing a senate hearing taking responsibility while admition the cause was a trifecta, a surge in passengers, increased security measures and not enough staff. >> and we are addressing all three of those very, very vigorously. >> reporter: the head of the tsa and the nations's biggest airline saying wait times have already dramatically improved. >> the combination of some new personnel coming in, shifting? dog teams there. dog teams help considerably in terms of moving passengers rnchtsz and more of those passengers are moving through tsa precheck. >> we went last year from a daily average of 3,000 enrollees into tsa precheck two days ago we reached the 16,000 mark. >> reporter: the government hoping to expedite lines while employing effective counterterrorism efforts. >> our effort in confronting violent extremism terrorism

globally needs to be more comprehensive. it needs to -- we need to scale up our effort. >> reporter: and the senate just approved a homeland security bill which would add nearly $1 billion more to help improve security measures across the country. in new york, adrian pink eenne abc news. officials at san francisco international airport says there were no perimeter security breaches last year as we take a live look out there. this comes a year after the associated press reported that sfo led the country in breaches. records show there was an incident in march of 2015 when a woman walked onto the tarmac. there were two other incident that's january. the airport insists they were not security breaches. the associated press identified 41 perimeter security breaches at sfo in 21 at san jose since the start of 2004. protesters were out in numbers today outside the mcdonald's headquarters in oakbrook, illinois. it's the second day of protests outside the fast food giant's annual shareholders meeting.

the company shut down its headquarters yesterday and today due to these disruptions. provi protesters are fighting for higher wages. a new poll shows how big of a role social security will play for baby boomers. an associated press survey reveals 44% of boomers say they're going to dip into their program before reaching full retirement age. americans can begin collecting as early as age 62 but benefits drop by up to 30%. among those with incomes under $50,000, 58% say they're more anxious than secure about their savings for retirement. engineers in china think they've come up with one possible answer for beijing's terrible traffic conditions. check this out. it's a bus of sorts that can zoom right over the top of cars sitting in traffic. that doesn't even look real. engineers say it can carry 1200 people at a time and cost much less than a subway so it would be pretty cool if they can make that happen.

excitement is building in the south bay as hockey fans prepare for the arrival of the stanley cup finals. >> abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen is in san jose. >> score! >> reporter: and with that the san jose sharks made franchise history last night clinching a spot in the stanley cup finals. today fans lined up at the shark tank tore a shot at tickets and merchandise. elizabeth hen iry was the first to arrive p. >> i love it. it's exciting and exhilarating. it's so much fun to watch. you get into it. the crowd is just going. you're just so energetic. >> reporter: there's no denying the excitement in san jose. but if you're a fair weather fan jumping on the wand baggen these die-hards will invite you to join them but with words of wisdom. >> when the puck's in play, sit down. do not get up during play. that is the most irritating

>> a charter school in richmond is facing opposition from parents. the controversy escalated when parents found out the district is selling the school's site for only $60,000.

but as abc 7 news education reporter lyanne melendez found out, that deal come was a lot of strings attached. >> reporter: cal i ver beta academy in richmond is located on a temporary lot with 36 portable classrooms. >> it was built for 430 students. today we have 585 and next year we'll have 800 students here. >> reporter: california law says school districts must offer charter schools adequate face and facilities. caliber says this is far from adequate. caliber would like to take over this empty middle school in the richmond hills which closed seven years ago. since then, adams middle school has been vandalized and a victim of arsonists. the school district says it does not have the money to retrofit or rebuild the school so west contra costa unified has offered it to caliber. but that has infuriated a number of parents. at an informational meeting, one of the school board heb members had to explain the obligation. >> we have a school, we have to

find a place for it. >> reporter: the school district wants to sell the property for $60,000 with certain conditions. the land cannot be used for anything other than a school, no condos, no homes, no commercial units. and the retrofitting and rebuilding must be entirely paid for by caliber. despite those reassurances, some parents are still oppose d. the center of a shootout. good evening, i'm kristen sze. >> and ai'm dan ashley. new details are coming in constantly, moving very quickly. just a few minutes ago medics tell our sister station in sant brar bra that a man driving that vehicle has been killed. pearl was taken from an overpass yet morning. more than 24 hours later, late today the scene shifted to sanlt barbara where a car linked to fernando cost troh was spotted. >> laura anthony is live in vallejo tonight with the latest. >> reporter: hi, dan. i'm actually on the walking bridge where pearl was last seen here yesterday morning. there were some friend and family who have gathered here in the meantime. a lot of developments this afternoon from sant ba barbara ounlty. we can show you pictures that authorities down there released of this chase. the chp actually spotted the suspect vehicle, this was a gold saturn, that fernando castro was linked to. we can show you those pictures. he was spotted on highway 101 heading i believe south towards
