three police officers. the suspects are in the same neighborhood where two officers were shot. he broke into a stranger's home over night. lets get straight out to matt keller. >> reporter: good morning, the fire at the home with the suspect is barricaded and is still burning this morning. we are told that's the front porch of the home. police have not heard from the suspect since about 3:30 this morning when its phone died during negotiations. here is some new video we shot a short time ago. the oakland police s.w.a.t. team rolling in the area. they're taking over for the alameda county's office. the suspect was able to resist coming out. that tear gas they are started the fire. the suspect's parents are here at the scene. they tried to help with negotiations but the suspect would not come out.

close and i the search in the city has changed. law enforcement has a message for fremont residents. >> the community should know that we are confined to this location now and the greater area is safe for them to go about their business. we are focusing in on this one house and block in the city. >> reporter: the sheriff spokesperson says the suspect is from the bay area and law enforcement is familiar with him. law enforcement says daylight will help them with the situation and allow them to get a better look at the home. they believe that the suspect could be in closets or rooms in there that's not burn from the fire. they are concerned that he's still alive and able to barricade himself inside the home. we'll monitor this situation and let you know any updates when they become available.

errori reporting live. matt keller, abc 7 news. the officer who was shot is in critical condition right now after under going surgery yesterday. the second officer who was shot was a police detective. that police were told is in stable condition right now. fremont officers along with colleagues and other agencies raced to the hospital about learning about the shooting. fremont's mayor also >> i will tell you that we hope that both officers will be okay. >> mayor harrison also asked the public to keep their families in their thoughts. the suspect backs into the officer's vehicle and shot the

store. the fire was put out about an hour later. no one was hurt. a warning, this next story is hard to watch. police arrested a man accused of viciously atatacking an 80 year old woman on a bus. you can see the man getting up d and he kicks the woman in the face. he turns his rage to the driver. the bus driver is a hero here. she quickly opens the door arriving other drivers on board to escape. so that kept the attacker from driving off the bus. again, that guy, that terrible person is now in custody. >> oh my god. >> all right, are you in the market to buy new car. at least four automakers are

situation taking place here on roberts avenue. with daylight coming, we are getting a better view of this. what we heard that may end up changing this situation. >> yeah, explosion there. we heard several of explosions about a two-minute time frame and they were spaced out every 25 seconds or so: this happened again. no one from law enforcement said whether what it was and more tear gas fired into the home and flames in the home did flare up after it happened. tear gas was fired around 2:15. the suspect was able to resist and come out. he was defiant of not coming out. so many how werurs of communica

know they're okay? >> reporter: yeah, no one was home at the time and those people were random residents who happen to live in the area where the suspect ran off >> the fremont police officer try toied to make a traffic stod the suspect backed into the officer's vehicle and shot an officer. the suspect is wearing an orange jersey and took off and running over a fence and onto robert avenue where shots were fired again and a second officer is wounded at the scene. we have hundreds of officers throughout the bay area came to aid in search of the suspect. here you can see one of the officers giving aid. one is in critical condition and has been with the department for a year. the detective who's shot is
