to get more marine layer tonight. but right now it's still hot in many locations. hear's live doppler 7 hd. we have mainly sunny skies with the exception of the marine later layer at the coast. here is a look at high temperatures so far 101 at concord and liveror mohr 101 at brent foord and fairfield, also 100 at gilroy, cloverdale and ukiah. and we've had run record high so far, oakland has hit 87 degrees, a new record for this date in oakland shattering the old record of 80 sest in 19 yawn. this is a view once again at the golden gate as the cooling coastal fog is pushing through. it's 74 in san francisco right now, 85 in aek land, mountain view 901, 94 in san jose, 63 half moon bay. we're getting a little cooling near the coast and the bay already as you can imagine. this is the view at the golden gate if you're driving across it you're encountering some nothing. 96 right now in santa rosa 92 na napa, we showed you 101 at fairfield and livermore. check out the cooling over the

>> because she is laying down. before she was panting. now she's pretty happy. >> reporter: the contra costa county fair runs through sunday. the hot weather? you'll have to ask spencer or sandhya. >> looks like a little bit of a cooldown this weekend so we're definitely looking forward to that. >> reporter: in antioch, jonathan bloom. a brush fire near danville scorched about 25 acres before firefighters could get it under control. it was hot around 100 degrees, dry, and somewhat windy when the blaze broke out around 12:30 today. the area is straddled by dozens of homes but firefighters controlled the flames noxt one was hurt. you can see how hot it is why you live with the abc 7 news app. download it for free and enable the push alerts to get weather alerts on your phone. after a tense five-hour standoff a suspect is finally in custody. >> sky7 hd was over the scene shortly after it began around 9:30 a.m. with a report of an armed man in a building in san francisco's chinatown neighborhood. abc 7 news reporter vic lee was the first reporter to tweet

about this situation and vic joins us live with a look at exactly what happened there. vic? >> reporter: well, the building is in the middle of that block over there on this side of the street. you can see officers outside and there are still officers inside that building. and thank goodness it ended without a shot being fired. i talked to the captain in charge of this incident earlier. he told me that the objective was to end this through negotiations and that there was no hurry. and indeed there was no hurry. as you said, it started at 9:30 this morning. it ended about an hour and a half ago. s.w.a.t. team members converged on the 900 block of pacific after you knew in chinatown to this apartment building. this after patrol officers responded to a 911 call from the residence saying there was a burglary in progress. >> when officers arrived at the scene, responding to this call, we noticed the suspect was still at the scene, still in the residence. >> reporter: police say the burglar came into the apartment unit through the roof.

he barricaded himself in the rear kitchen area. >> there was a shot fired. shot fired was not from an officer. it was from the suspect so now we're dealing with it. >> reporter: the officers quickly retreated, evacuating the resident with them. s.w.a.t. team and police negotiators rushed over. residents in ajace int buildings were ordered to leave. other residences were told to shelter in place. the stalemate continued into the fifth hour. then a flash bang. the s.w.a.t. team rushed into the apartment unit. you you can see the suspect running out into a nail salon next door. officers chased him inside. workers in the salon ran out to safety. the suspect would not go down easily. >> once the suspect went inside, he violently fought with officers. he was covered in glass and resisting by biting and spitting. >> reporter: police say the burglar was not injured, but he was put into a gurney and transported to the hospital. a number of officers did sustain injuries. >> i have a total of six

officers that are jurisdictioned fr injured from this incident. all nonlife threatening injuries but in this incident, officers were slashed by the glass and there was blood on blood contact between the suspect's blood an the officers' blood. >> reporter: it all ended the way police wanted, no shots fir fired. vic lee, abc 7 news. fremont police say the condition of one of the officers who was shot wednesday is improving. but the other remains in critical condition. the officers were injured in several shootout with a suspect after he was pulled over for a traffic stop. and we're now learning that the suspect 44-year-old gerald was on the run for meth possession and identity theft. our media partner the bay area news group also reports that he was a member of a street gang. he's had a criminal past dating back to 1996. he died hours after the shootings inside a home where he was hiding. that home caught fire after police fired tear gas canisters inside, hoping to get him to surrender. a gofundme account has been

set up for the couple who lived in that home that burned to the ground. their dog was killed in the incident. and their cousin says they lost everything they own and need a new place to live and money for daily needs. so far, more than $10,000 has been pledged. we have developing news this afternoon. boxing legend and civil rights icon muhammad ali has been hospitalized. supports suggest his outlook doesn't look good. the 74-year-old ali is in fair condition at a hospital in phoenix, arizona. a spokesperson says he's dealing with a respiratory problem but the associated press talked to two people who said his illness is much more serious than it's been in previous hospital stays. ali the great boxing champ was diagnosed with parkinson's in 1984. [ bleep ]! >> today many are questioning why san jose police didn't do more to stop the violence outside last night's donald trump rally. some trump supporters were attacked, harassed and even punched as they left the rally at the convention center last

very warm today. hot in many locations. but we're going to see the heat easing up a little bit going into the weekend, which is probably good news. sheer here is i look at live doppler 7 hd. we have mainly sunny sky was a few high clouds around and quite a bit of low cloudiness and fog gathering at the coastline and pushing locally through the golden gate. check out the 24 hour temperature change. it is so much warmer in all locations right now than it was at this hour yesterday. 10 degrees warmer in san francisco and oakland and palo alto 17 degrees warmer in hayward than it was at this hour yesterday, 12 degrees warmer in napa 2 degrees warmer na in half moon bay, not a big increase but as coastal standards go that's pretty significant. right now it's 101 degrees in fairfield, concord, san ramon and livermore, 100 degrees in brentwood, down to 85 in oakland from a high of 87, a new record high for this date, 96 in santa rosa, los gatos, 96 at mountain

view, 95 at fremont, 94 san jose, 76 here in the city. now this a look from our rooftop camera here at abc 7 across the ex-barrack dare row across the bay. we'll see coastal fog expanding tonight moving locally across the bay. and we'll see a few high clouds gathering as well. it will be a little bit cooler this weekend as i mentioned and we'll have more of an average range of high temperatures next week. moving along to overnight lows as the fog moves locally in from the coast to a few inland spots we'll see low temperatures dropping only into the upper 50s and low 60s in many locations so it will be quite mild overnight. here is our little fog cast, 5:00 tomorrow morning we'll see the potential for fog at the coast and locally over the bay and you'll see high clouds as well, the high clouds will remain with us through the day tomorrow giving us filtered sunshine and the result will be another warm day but not as hot as today. look for highs inland mainly if the upper 80s xeps where we'll see 90s.

the. the presidential candidates are all here in california campaigning today. abc 7 news reporter laura anthony met a young man wearing a shirt that says "help us bernie sanders." you're our only hope. she's live in fairfield where the democratic candidate just spoke to supporters at a rally. lau lau laura. >> reporter: larry, this is nothing like the size of the crowd we saw at the rally in oakland earlier today. only about 1300 people here in fairfield at solano community college. but still very enthusiastic for sanders who made a prediction of sorts about his chances of winning the california primary. >> in almost all of the new wealth and almost all of the you new income is going to the top 1%. >> reporter: they were feeling the bern in more ways than one in fairfield today with temperatures pushing 100 degrees. all to see democratic presidential candidate senator bernie sanders on his final push ahead of tuesday's california primary. >> if you hear that there is a large voter turnout, we will

stands for. >> reporter: trump at a san jose rally yesterday repeating that call. >> we're going to build that wall. don't even think about it. >> reporter: outside, wild protests where where his supporters were punch and bloodied and had eggs thrown at them as several were called racist. trump under fire for his recent claims that the judge presiding over a trump university lawsuit has a prejudice. >> look, the comment about the judge the other day just was out of left field from my mind. it's reasoning i don't relate to. >> reporter: house speaker paul ryan who just yesterday publicly endorsed trump today distanced himself on wisn-radio. >> he clearly says and does things i don't agree with. >> reporter: political analyst matthew dowd says a lot of republicans are in an uncomfortable spot. >> they feel they have to endorse him because trump has united the party, but they are going to own every outlandish thing that donald trump says throughout the course ofhis campaign. >> reporter: trum much has says he'll pick someone with

political experience as his running mate. on monday he'll meet with one rumored contender, florida governor rick scott, though scott has said repeatedly he'd pass on the job. megan hughes, abc news, washington. a massive video dump was made by the chicago agency that investigates police misconduct. the independent police review authority released more than 300 video clips from 101 incidents that it's investigated. it also released 911 calls and original police reports. the authority calls it an important first step toward rewill building trust in police. all the cases involve the shootings by officers, use of stun guns and in-custody incidents where there was great bodily injury or death. now to the severe weather that's facing parts of the country. the search continues for those four ft. hood soldiers missing since their truck overturned in a creek while they were leering roads at the army base. abc news reporter lauren lyster has more. >> reporter: texas flooding seen from above, a bird's-eye view of the damaging waters.

>> no no no! >> reporter: that rushing through the region. vehicles swept away. >> get out! get out! >> reporter: homes submerged, some turned to islands or staving off a wall of water. and a hunt continuing for four missing soldiers after a training exercise turned tragic near flt ft. hood. a truck filled with soldiers overturning in a creek. >> it's a situation where the rain had come, the water was rising quickly. it's just an unfortunate accident that occurred quickly. >> reporter: five soldiers killed in that accident, three rescued. >> we were able to rescue three soldiers who are in stable condition. >> reporter: over the past silver days, there have been more than 550 high water rescues across texas. >> if you are trapped inside of a home or in a neighborhood, you will be found. aid is coming to you. >> reporter: it's not just texas. outside of pittsburgh, boats also saving people from floodwaters. and bystanders rescuing this
