>> it is saturday, june 4th. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. we are in for another hot day across the bay area. here's meteorologist lisa argen tracking the accuweather forecast for us. hi, lisa. >> hi, chris. you are right. although we are going to see some changes close to the water, at the coastline and be around the bay. there iscology getting going in response to this area of low pressure that is heading toward the shoreline. so you are obviously can see all the cloud cover. with that it's going to increase our onshore flow. but not had tough overnight to cool us off. it's 70s here, 64 concord. novato has cooled into the

mid-50s. over all we are much, much warmer. this afternoon it will be partly cloudy, foggy at the beaches and then by the afternoon the heat remains in the east bay valleys, but you will notice a little bit of change around the ba i and certainly at the coast. details in a few minutes. chris. >> thank you. breaking news. he called himself the greatest and backed it up with speed and power that took your breath away. muhammad ali, the boxes legend, died last night at the age of 734. he could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, passed away at a hospital where he was taken last thursday because of his respiratory issues. his post career was marked by a battle with parkinson's disease. abc news reporter marcy gonzalez looks back on the life and legacy of the champ. >> he called himself the greatest and told us how pretty he was. for more than 20 years he backed

up his words with his fists. beginning with a gold medal he 1960 summer olympics, he took the boxes storm by storm. in one. his big pro fights he about brashly predicted an upset. he won that fight in february, 1964. then he announced his conversion to islam, and his new name, mauledly. >> whatever the punishment is, the persecution for standing up for my religious belief, even facing machine gun, i will stand up for it. >> he found a supporter in sportscaster howard cassel. >> i'm always confident. >> you are being extremely succulent. >> whatever that means, if that's good, i'm that.

into custody in san francisco's chinatown. police ended a five hour standoff yesterday afternoon using a flash bang to chase the suspect out of the apartment abc7 news was at powell and pacific where he ran into a nail salon before taken into custody. >> he was covered in glass and resisting by biting and spitting at officers. officers were slashed by the glass and there was blood on blood contact between the suspect's blood and the officers' blood. >> the suspect was not seriously hurt. 5:14 is our time. stanford public safety officers are on the lookout of a man who has been sneaking into the rooms of students. twice women arock to find a man in their room listing up their sheets. in both cases they were able to chase him away. officers told students to lock their doors and windows at night. in politics this morning, republican presidential candidate donald trump is going after the african-american vote.

we are waking up to mild temperatures, but get ready for the heat. here's lisa argen. she's tracking live doppler hd. hi chris. you were right. you might have felt a little cooling by the bay, but we are look at a lot of cloud cover. this will be one element that helps to cool us off gradually today. the other one, a return of our onshore flow. you see the cloud cover. and day-to-day we will continue to look at temperatures coming down bit by bit. 5:48 is the official sunrise. 55 san francisco. 62 in oakland. look at mountain view at 67. san jose still holding at 70. 63 morgan hill and 50 degrees at the coast. golden gate bridge, yes, there is fog. in fact, creating some visibility issues. five miles at the coast, 55 santa rosa, 56 napa. good morning novato, mid-50s

for you. so you folks, once again today, about 30 degrees ever warming because change is not happening yet in the inland east bay. it's warmer everywhere. we were all in the mid-and upper 90s most of us yesterday for the bulk of the day. the atmosphere retaining all of that heat. right now from the exploratorium camera, looking at partly cloudy skies in san francisco. coastal fog this morning, a little cooler day-to-day. not only over the weekend but into next week. that will bring us back to normal in the next 48 hours or so. here's a look at the sutro tower camera. spare the air alert today with the poorest air quality in the inland east bay. very warm out there again. i don't think we will see the 100s. yesterday was 101 in concord. 100 livermore. we had 95 in san jose. this is a forecast for tomorrow. we still have the reds with mid-90s. about five degrees of cooling inland. the cooling gets underway today around the bay. look what happened on monday.

the sea breeze strengthens. we will be back to normal monday afternoon or tuesday with 60s and mid-80s inland. a return to the steady onshore flow and heat retreating, temperatures will be comfortable in the week ahead. that's the good now. as we check out the rest of the state, much of california will experience the cloud cover. the next couple days we could see some showers and thunderstorms from the area of low pressure that's going to move this today. that will allow for the instability higher elevations. clouds along the coast. 84 in los angeles. so not only the cooling trend just getting underway today, wait until you see the next several days. 78 in oakland. 85 palo alto. notice the high clouds. still kind of muggy out there in our inland valleys with numbers well into the 90s. accuweather seven-day forecast notice today, you are right, the warmest day of the week, upper 90s inland, mid-80s around the bay. more cooling inland, about 5 degrees or so. we will continue the trend right

his deal with clipper. it happened when he lost his wallet on a flat form. he cancelled his card but found out someone road all day on his card after he cancelled it. and bruce had to pay the fares. >> i found out the hard way the thief gets to use your card all day and it's on you. >> turns out the small print said a card holder is responsible for charges until the end of the day a card is reported lost or stolen. clipper admits their computer system is outdated; that it can't immediately shut off the card for all 289 transit agencies that accept it. >> that is still amazing. people are victimized with criminals running around for 24 hours with their clipper card running up fares. >> we took it up with the chairman of the metropolitan transportation commission. he said he would have the rule changed and, in fact, it has.

as of this year each transit agency will wave fares charged to stolen cards. but you would never know that by looking at the cardholder agreement. it still says customers are responsible be for stolen rides. >> if they are serious, they can put it in writing. until they do, they have lost me as a customer. >> it's the chinese translation that's proven problematic. >> john good win said the policy really has changed. you will not pay for stolen rides. however, you won't see that in the agreement until they figure out a chinese translation. bruce finds that incredible, too. >> there's a large chinese community here. there are lots of are translators available. >> so what's the holdup? >> i don't speak or write chinese. >> he admits riders have no way of the change. >> right. they can see it here on abc7.

thursday after their two and a half ton truck overturned in the racing water. southeast texas has been inundated with rain in the recent days and more than half of the state is under flood watches or warnings. six other people have died in the floods. a river is spilling into paris streets and forcings one landmark after another to close down. it's at its highest level in 35 years, following 30 days of heavy rain. the sun is expected to peek in paris today. authorities shut down the louve and the national library and other famous landmarks. curators were scrambling to move 250,000 pieces of art from the louve basement storage area to an upper floor. back at home, more than 100 wounded warriors from across the country are competing in the

i'm larry beil. >> if you were hoping for a break from the heat, today probably isn't your day. meteorologist lisa argen has been tracking live doppler hd. good morning. >> good morning, chris. we have cloud cover starting out all over the bay due to a system moving in this afternoon. it will allow for limiting cooling across the coach. inland, we are still hot and even with the cloud cover we will still see temperatures well above normal. today in santa cruz, we will be in the low 70s. rights now you see all the cloud cover at the beach. nobody is there. 52 oakland, mountain view and san jose. look how warm. 67 and 70 right now in san jose. and a cool 52 half moon bay. from our sutro tower camera, the sun up at 5:48. we are looking at numbers ranging from the 50s in the north bay to the mid-60s out by the delta. concord yesterday 101.

livermore with 100. we saw 100-degree heat in morgan hill and near that in many cases around the bay. with all that warmth yesterday, we are starting off a lot warmer. especially in the south bay and east bay valleys. but little change in san francisco. so today will be a day with moderate change. but the air quality very poor due to the high ozone level, especially in the east bay valleys. coastal fog. means spare the air alert there with the poor air quality. a little cooler over the weekend. each and every day we will bring temperatures down 2 to 4 degrees. and another 5 degrees tomorrow. from sfo you see it's nice and clear. with the spare the air alert, you are certainly feeling a little bit of discomfort out there, especially around livermore valley with temperatures there still well into the 90s. this is the way it's going to play out. 9:00 this morning we have high clouds around. we call it partly cloudy. it be foggy at the beaches. later on in the afternoon still

some filtered sun but still the area of high pressure is strong, it's overhead. it's beginning to drift to the east and as it does that's why we will get a little return flow from the ocean. this is tomorrow. you see the reds. low to mid-90s in the inner east bay and numbers in the 80s. by the time we get to the beginning of the work week, check it out. sea breeze strengthens, no for 90s. tuesday back to average temperature readings for june. the june gloom with low fog and coast each and every day at the coast. upper 80sed to santa rosa. that's coming down a good 10 degrees with numbers gradually cooling, just into the mid-70s by the middle of next week. very warm to hot inland. 78 oakland, look for about 80 today around san mateo. upper 80s north bay. the accuweather forecast, spare the air alert today.
