mid-50s. over all we are much, much warmer. this afternoon it will be partly cloudy, foggy at the beaches and then by the afternoon the heat remains in the east bay valleys, but you will notice a little bit of change around the ba i and certainly at the coast. details in a few minutes. chris. >> thank you. breaking news. he called himself the greatest and backed it up with speed and power that took your breath away. muhammad ali, the boxes legend, died last night at the age of 734. he could float like a butterfly and sting like a bee, passed away at a hospital where he was taken last thursday because of his respiratory issues. his post career was marked by a battle with parkinson's disease. abc news reporter marcy gonzalez looks back on the life and legacy of the champ. >> he called himself the greatest and told us how pretty he was. for more than 20 years he backed

up his words with his fists. beginning with a gold medal he 1960 summer olympics, he took the boxes storm by storm. in one. his big pro fights he about brashly predicted an upset. he won that fight in february, 1964. then he announced his conversion to islam, and his new name, mauledly. >> whatever the punishment is, the persecution for standing up for my religious belief, even facing machine gun, i will stand up for it. >> he found a supporter in sportscaster howard cassel. >> i'm always confident. >> you are being extremely succulent. >> whatever that means, if that's good, i'm that.

for you. so you folks, once again today, about 30 degrees ever warming because change is not happening yet in the inland east bay. it's warmer everywhere. we were all in the mid-and upper 90s most of us yesterday for the bulk of the day. the atmosphere retaining all of that heat. right now from the exploratorium camera, looking at partly cloudy skies in san francisco. coastal fog this morning, a little cooler day-to-day. not only over the weekend but into next week. that will bring us back to normal in the next 48 hours or so. here's a look at the sutro tower camera. spare the air alert today with the poorest air quality in the inland east bay. very warm out there again. i don't think we will see the 100s. yesterday was 101 in concord. 100 livermore. we had 95 in san jose. this is a forecast for tomorrow. we still have the reds with mid-90s. about five degrees of cooling inland. the cooling gets underway today around the bay. look what happened on monday.

the sea breeze strengthens. we will be back to normal monday afternoon or tuesday with 60s and mid-80s inland. a return to the steady onshore flow and heat retreating, temperatures will be comfortable in the week ahead. that's the good now. as we check out the rest of the state, much of california will experience the cloud cover. the next couple days we could see some showers and thunderstorms from the area of low pressure that's going to move this today. that will allow for the instability higher elevations. clouds along the coast. 84 in los angeles. so not only the cooling trend just getting underway today, wait until you see the next several days. 78 in oakland. 85 palo alto. notice the high clouds. still kind of muggy out there in our inland valleys with numbers well into the 90s. accuweather seven-day forecast notice today, you are right, the warmest day of the week, upper 90s inland, mid-80s around the bay. more cooling inland, about 5 degrees or so. we will continue the trend right

his deal with clipper. it happened when he lost his wallet on a flat form. he cancelled his card but found out someone road all day on his card after he cancelled it. and bruce had to pay the fares. >> i found out the hard way the thief gets to use your card all day and it's on you. >> turns out the small print said a card holder is responsible for charges until the end of the day a card is reported lost or stolen. clipper admits their computer system is outdated; that it can't immediately shut off the card for all 289 transit agencies that accept it. >> that is still amazing. people are victimized with criminals running around for 24 hours with their clipper card running up fares. >> we took it up with the chairman of the metropolitan transportation commission. he said he would have the rule changed and, in fact, it has.

as of this year each transit agency will wave fares charged to stolen cards. but you would never know that by looking at the cardholder agreement. it still says customers are responsible be for stolen rides. >> if they are serious, they can put it in writing. until they do, they have lost me as a customer. >> it's the chinese translation that's proven problematic. >> john good win said the policy really has changed. you will not pay for stolen rides. however, you won't see that in the agreement until they figure out a chinese translation. bruce finds that incredible, too. >> there's a large chinese community here. there are lots of are translators available. >> so what's the holdup? >> i don't speak or write chinese. >> he admits riders have no way of the change. >> right. they can see it here on abc7.
