legislation to address the rise in reported rape cases on campuses and to provide more funding for enforcement. close to 1 million signatures will be delivered tomorrow at noon to the california commission on judicial performance to remove judge persky for the lenient sentence he imposed. stanford law professor michelle dawber and leaders of ultra vie leapt a women's advocacy group have been leading the charge. the outcry has also been held at the palo alto courthouse where the judge presides. the judge had to excuse about ten prospective jurors because they didn't want to is serve in his court. and the brock turner case has become part of an ongoing campaign by vice president biden and sinner lady gaga to stop the sexual assault of women. the vice president wrote an open letter to the brock turner victim. quote i do not know your name but i know a lot of people failed you that terrible january night and in the months that followed. david louie, abc 7 news. tonight at 6:00, abc 7 news

reporter amy hllyfield reports from brock turner's hometown. she was not welcomed with open arms. see what happens at 6. contra costa county firefighters have put out a blaze that destroyed several structures in achbt yough over the last hour. sigh 7 hd was over crestwood drive. the fire started in vegetation along the railroad tracks and spread very quickly to homes and outbuildings nearby. the fire department says at least five structures were damaged. but the cause is still under investigation. in the north bay, heatherton street in san rafael was just reopened after a woman was hit and killed while crossing it just after 1:00 in front of the san rafael transit center. police say a dump truck hit her while she was in the crosswalk. witnesses say the victim was an elderly woman. san francisco police are trying to determine why a paratransit driver ran over and killed his own passenger today.

the accident happened at geary and franklin in san francisco. abc 7 news reporter carolyn tyler joins us live from the scene. >> reporter: kristen, there were two pedestrian accidents in san francisco today, one a man in the tenderloin was hit and suffered injuries and then here where the woman was killed. the victim had gotten off this san francisco paratransit van and was using her walker to cross the intersection at franklin street and geary boulevard around 10:45 this morning. >> made her way toward the front of the bus. at that point, the driver accelerated. >> reporter: police hope video from surveillance cameras at a nearby church will help investigators determine if there was mechanical failure or driver error. we've learned the victim was heading to a meeting hosted by senior and disability action, a group that is sponsoring town hall gatherings regarding safety on san francisco streets. this after a woman in a

wheelchair was fate alley struck on market street back in february. daisy brooks and joyce ga lagos are members of that advocacy group. >> we need some type of a safety for somebody here guarding us. >> ironically brooks was heading to the same meeting as the victim and had also planned to take paratransit but was running late. >> i'm happy i didn't get on paratransit today because i was going to come right to that building. >> reporter: san francisco paratransit is city run but uses a private contractor. muni says the driver is a veteran operator but it was his first time on this route. in san francisco, abc 7 news. police in oakland now say they rescued three teenage girls from what they're calling a human sex trafficking operation. the new details on yesterday's kidnapping case came out just this afternoon. poli found the 14, 15 and 16-year-old girls at a home near 65th and

herzog streets. police officers have arrested a 21-year-old man and 22-year-old woman. fairfield police are telling residents that a high-risk sex offender has moved into their neighborhood. george shockley was twice convicted in the '90s for sex crimes against children. he is currently on parole for unrelated charges. police released the information under megan's law. if you were last week's donald trump's rally in san j e jose, police would like to talk to you, especially if you witnessed somebody being assaulted. chris nguyen is live in san owe zai. police need help identifying more suspects, chris. >> reporter: and this case is a top priority for the san jose police department. case in point, they just released a photo of a new suspect. let's put it on the screen. they're asking for the public's help in identifying and locating this man who may have been connected to some of the violence that happened at the donald trump rally. >> that day is just -- tempers flared and stuff got out of

hand. >> reporter: matthew gonzalez hoped for a nonviolent protest but looked on as a small number of anti-trump protesters found themselves in a tug-of-war with supporters. >> they were just pauking by, go back to your country, get out of here. >> reporter: san jose police have now made seven arrests in connection to last week's lalry. in the last 24 hours police released these pickets of three individuals who are believed to have assaulted others near the san jose convention center. yesterday the log cabin republicans held an event at city hall in support of a member who said he was repeatedly punched by protesters. detectives are actively pursuing leads looking at videos and social media all with the goal of finding anyone who was responsible for injuring others. jesus balaneltran was there ands people need to keep their cool regardless of what side of the political aisle they fall on. >> these rallies kind of give pex an excuse to behave a way they normally aren't supposed to, right? you wouldn't go down the street and do that to somebody.

>> announcer: san ramon. san mateo and all the bay area. this is abc 7 news. we are learning tonight what led authorities to the arrest of three people in the murder of a millbrae man. keith green's ex-girlfriend and two others are being held in connection with his death. vic lee is in the newsroom with the story you'll see only on abc 7 news. >> dan, abc 7 news has learned that san mateo sheriffs forensic units went to the hill borough home of green's ex-girlfriend twice to look for dna evidence

in the murder. the second time just last week. sources with knowledge of the probe have also told us the sequence of events that led to the arrests. three people have been arrested, tiffany li and two others. they're charged with the murder of keith green, li's ex-boyfriend and father of their two young children. his body was found in mid-may in a field in smoem na county with a single gunshot wound to the neck. a week and a half later on may 20th, sheriff's deputies went to this apartment building in burlingame and arrested olivier adella. early the next morning, a s.w.a.t. team raided this mansion and arrested two more. several sources tell us that afr investigators identify green's body they began looking at li and buy yacht. their probe also led to adella who ran a limo business. investigators found he had sold his mercedes shortly after green

went missing. they found the new owner and checked the car. sources say that by using lum afollow, a chemical that detects blood that's been clean they found blood traces in the trunk that turned out to be green's. investigators also found evidence that led he them to believe adella was a flight risk. they quickly took him into custody at his apartment. rick smith a former fbi agent now in private security believes the arrest yielded critical information. >> there's a likelihood when you're talking about a life sentence or a long sentence that somebody will talk. >> reporter: now armed with a search warrant, the s.w.a.t. team went to li's home. they ended up taking her and buy yacht into custody. >> they you knew what they were looking for and evidently found it, which allowed them to get the arrest warrant. >> sources tell us investigators believe green was killed in the garage or at this apartment where li also lived during her separation from green. vic lee, abc 7 news. an alert if you take highway

4 to or from work. for the next three weeks, construction crews will be using powder charges to drive spikes into the steel framing for the b.a.r.t. station near railroad avenue. police warn it may sound like gun fire but don't worry it won't be. officers are advising drivers who may be on edge after recent shootings along highway 4 along that corridor. b.a.r.t. is turning to voters to help its aging infrastructure. today they vote to put a $3.5 million bond on the november ballot. the money will be used to replace tract r tracks repair tunnels and 81 grade the system on the 44-year-old public transit system. the measure would increase property taxes by up to $55 a year for property owners in san francisco alameda and contra costa county. an east bay school district is inviting kids back to school during the summer but not to take classes. today abc 7 news was in richmond as the west contra costa county unified school district kicked off its summer meals program. the district will have 70 sites
