disastrous game three loss. golden state responded lead by who else? the splash brothers. it was quite a game from the start. >> they made history in the process setting an nba record. he was four of five and steph and clay combined for 11. clay finished with 25 points. the warriors win it 108-97 and take a 3-1 series lead. >> we answered the bell especially in the first quarter controlling the pace of the game and not losing it like we did in game three. we got back to enjoying the process and the challenge of winning playoff games. >> we have to under that this series is not over. we came in and did what we wanted to do getting the split. game five will be extremely difficult. >> all right, the warriors can clinch their second consecutive nba title on monday night right here at oracle arena.

city leader is on the record saying he thinks the city's police chief was forced out. sean went e-mailed his resignation last night. the deputy chief will take over as interim chief. eric thomas has the details from oakland. >> the city released his letter of res sig mace and if you are looking for reasons for him leaving you won't see much. just that violent crime is down and it is time to look for other opportunities. others think it goes deeper than that. >> last night we received the resignation of our police chief effective today. >> that's how the mayor announced oakland was losing another police chief. why he is leaving is not completely clear. the oakland city councilman said he was shocked to find out the chief was leaving. he believes all sides point to a man being forced out. >> leaving in that fashion and in that way, i think other folks had a lot to do with him

leaving. >> the question was it at all related to a sex scandal regarding several opd officers and the young daughter of a police dispatcher. >> chief went has never been a subject of the investigation of sexual misconduct in this department. >> not a subject, but it happened on his watch. he says he may be taking the hit for it. >> that has something to do with it. thisy are supposed to be the ultimate role model. >> the mayor will launch a nationwide search for a replacement. meantime, the former oakland police, now a deputy chief will be account aing chief. one councilman says he has his work cut out. >> it made no sense to me or my colleagues why the chief would resign. >> eric thomas, abc7 news.

two people are under arrest tonight accused of fatally stabbing a construction worker in san francisco's south of market area. police say it started with an argument. witnesses say the female construction worker exchanged words with another woman who then pulled out a knife. the victim's co-workers say it was a typical work day until this happened. >> i drove in and i saw her right before i got to work. she was fine. >> a man seen hiding behind a car was also arrested. they found a six-inch knife in the female suspect's waist band. police in san jose are looking for two more men accused of attacking people outside last week's donald trump rally. the department tweeted out these pictures of the men and they hope someone will recognize them and give them a call. police arrested eight other people in connection with the violence last thursday outside the convention center. they are still looking for four others. residents of southern california were jolted awake by a moderate earthquake this morning.

the magnitude 5.2 quake had an epicenter 60 miles northeast of san diego. it hit at 1:00 a.m., middle of the night. a seismograph at a station in los angeles captured a solid minute of shaking. it was followed by three smaller aftershocks. geologists say shaking along the particular fault is not uncommon. >> the san jacinto is a long fault zone and the most active fault in southern california. we see small earthquakes on it every day. this particular zone of san -- san jacinto is the most active area of the fault. >> shaking was felt throughout southern california. no damage or injuries of any significance were reported. a special edition of abc7 news continues. a man armed with rocks goes on the attack. as you heard it ended with gunfire. new information tonight on this airport chaos. >> ali! ali!

emotional day with a private reception where up until a few minutes ago the fans were still stopping by to pay their respects. marcy gonzalez, abc7 news. dan and ama, back to you. >> thank you, marcy. the two people were killed when a single engine plane crashed into a two-story townhouse in the city of hawthorne in l.a. county. both of the victims were on the plane. the crash started a fire and the firefighters were able to put it out quickly. hawthorne is located south of l.a.x. airport, by the way. the ntsb is investigating the cause of the crash. cell phone video shows people scattering when gunfire erupted outside dallas' love field airport. [gunfire]. >> police say an officer shot a man while responding to a domestic disthank disturbance. the man was using rocks to attack a woman in a car, possibly the mother of his children. officials say the officer fired his weapon several times after the man rushed at him

twice. he is now in stable con dig at the hospital. a solemn ceremony marked the remains of a bay area marines he was killed in one of the bloodiest battles of world war ii. he was 20 years old when he died on an island in the south pacific in 1943. he was undiscovered for seven decades and his remains recently found. >> it has been something that my grandparents wanted to get him home and he is finally home. >> he will be berry read -- buried with full military honors. gawker media is up for auction. the media company filed for bankruptcy today. a $140 million judgment against gawker for publishing a sex tape made by former wrestler hulk hogan's associates motivated the decision. silicon valley billionaire

parts of the bay area. it is not going to feel as chilly. take a look at our time lapse from our south beach camera. this is from earlier this evening. a beautiful view of the high cloud that were passing through the bay area this around and this evening. the temperatures got into the low 60s to the low 80s for most areas. i'll tell you what. we will get you into the 90s inland. look at that pretty shot. live doppler 7hd is showing most of the clouds have passed through the bay area. they have actually decreased. 21 miles an hour out of the west at sfo. the fire danger will be on the rise and the wind will come out of the northeast and drying out the atmosphere and a red flag warning up 5:00 a.m. to sunday noon. they will run until 5:00 p.m. tomorrow. the gusty winds and low humidity will mean you will have to just be extra vigilant tomorrow going into sunday. from our abc7 news
