>> we have breaking news out of florida this morning where as many as 20 people have died at an orlando nightclub. police consider this a domestic terror incident. you are looking at a live picture outside the nightclub that catered to the gay and lesbian communities. officers say the suspect killed people inside the club. they are still trying to determine if anyone else was involved. the florida department of law enforcement said there are suggestions the shooter had radical islamic leanings. the shooting happened at 2:00 this morning in orlando, florida. police say there were about 320 people inside the club at the time of the shooting. at least 42 victims have been

taken to various hospitals. one officer has been injured. stay with abc7 news as we bring you updates to this story. good morning, i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, june 12th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist frances dinglasan, who is in this morning for lisa argen. >> hi, everyone. we have quiet and clear conditions around many parts of the bay area but there are clouds moving in from the coast. temperatures right now, quite a big range still. 48 degrees in novato but then it's as warm as 67 degrees in brentwood. out the door right now. this is a big change from yesterday because we had such warm highs. we are 11 degrees warmer than we were compared to yesterday at this time in half moon bay. even 9 degrees warmer in concord and 8 degrees warmer in livermore. but things are changing because we will see the stronger onshore flow. with that sea breeze, that's going to cool things down. so inland we are only going to

reach the 80s today. 70s around the bay, 60s at the coast. i'll have your neighborhood forecast coming up and the cooling trend as well. carolyn. >> thank you, be frances. happening today, some graduating seniors will be carrying signs at stanford's graduation. they are hoping to she their solidarity with survivors of sexual assault. students of angry with the six-month sentence to former stanford swimmer brock turner. they are hoping to change what they call rape culture. lilian kim has the details. >> stanford protects rapists. rape culture has deep roots. those are just a couple signs protesters will be carrying during the commencement procession known as the wacky walk. marilyn travis is among the graduating students who will be participating. >> at a time like this when we are about to graduate, it's important to keep in mind the

way the campus needs to continue to improve and the way college campuses across the nation should also continue to improve by taking rape culture seriously. >> stanford than thrust into the national spotlight the past week. the judge sparked outrage as he sentenced former stanford student brock turner to only six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman. >> people coming from all over the country aren't surprised. >> i think that's what stanford has taught these kids, is to speak up and have courage. i love that about this university. >> also on sunday a plane will fly over stanford with a banner that says the judge must go. the same signs will appear outside the stadium and on campus. he will be taking part in the protest, as well. >> throughout my four years at stanford, this has been the most important journey for me, realizing the extent of this issue on our campus and also my own understanding of how it impacts people.

>> and that's the goal among protesters, to get more people to understand the impact of sexual assault. at stanford, lilian kim, abc7 news. >> police in san francisco have arrested a woman after officers chased down on the bart tracks. the powell street station around 8:30 last night. the 26-year-old woman had a felony theft warrant. she ran into the station through an emergency stairwell and on to the track. authorities say she grabbed an officer's gun, broke his radio and bit him on the arm before he could arrest her. the officer has been treated for minor injuries. a driver escaped with minor injuries after his car plunged into a creek in oakland. you are looking at video tweeted by oakland firefighters yesterday evening. you can see a swimmer helping the man escape from his partially submerged s.u.v. the highway patrol said he drove

into the creek from a parking lot next to enter state 880 near the coliseum complex. he went to a hospital to get checked out. a driver crashed into a pool in sonoma yesterday. it happened yesterday just after 2:30 in a backyard pool and riverside are drive and petaluma avenue. a witness saw the crash and the car sinking, and then dove in to help the driver get out. the driver had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital t took a crew 45 minutes to pool -- to pull the car free. abc san francisco was in north bay after a tree fell down on to the roof of the bank america building. police shut down the sidewalk. the annual north beach festival was taking place nearby. there were no reports of injuries. pg&e was called out to inspect nearby powerlines. an outpouring of grief in south san francisco after two young people died in a car crash. police suspect another young person of vehicular

manslaughter, second degree murder and drunk driving. flowers and candles mark the spot utah spot where friday nights tragedy occurred along airport boulevard. putt can see how the force of the wreck be mangled the suspect's honda. officers believe the driver was going at least 80 miles an hour in a 35 miles per hour zone. the honda hit another car, overturned and struck at least two trees before the victims, ages 18 and 21, were ejected on to the pavement. san jose police have made another arrest in connection with the violence that erupted following a donald trump rally earlier this month. police have arrested 24-year-old anthony yi of san jose. yi was charged with robbery you, assault and battery in three separate incidents. police say they expect more arrests soon reap late today the rally outside the trump rally at the convention center. eight people have already been

arrested. presumptive republican presidential nominee donald trump has fired back at a high-profile critic within his own party. thousands attended a rally for trump in the key battleground state of florida yesterday. trump responded to comments made by mitt romney, the last gop candidate to win his party's nomination. >> principles that suggest racism or zanaphobia -- >> doesn't like trump because i said you can't give him a third chance. he lost the first time. he really lost the second time. >> on the democratic side, presumptive nominee hillary clinton did not have any campaign appearances yesterday. on friday, the former secretary of state met privately friday with one of capitol hill's top liberal voices, massachusetts senator elizabeth warren. a sex scandal involving oakland police has expanded. the daughter of an oakland police dispatcher, who admitted having sex with at least three

oakland police officers while she was underage, now tells investigators she also had sex with a contra costa county deputy. the scandal happened under oakland police chief's shawn wendt's term. he resigned last week. we don't know if it factored into his decision to step down. >> the organization was really beginning to tackle some very difficult, difficult issues. >> bart deputy chief ben farrell is now the interim police chief. >> a puppy stolen at gunpoint last week is back home, safe with her 14-year-old owner in the east bay. police are still searching for suspects be but were happy to reunite mia with her owner. his stolen puppy, mia, found safe.

>> happening today thousands of athletes from more than 50 countries will compete in the annual escape from alcatraz triathlon. it starts at alcatraz island where participants jump into the bay to swim to marina green and then they mount bikes for an 18-mile ride to crissy field and the presidio before an eight mile run. the race begins at 7:30 this morning. a 9-year-old boy from the central coast is coming to san francisco to try to break a world record. james savage wants to become the youngest person to swim to and from alcatraz. last year he swam one way, but this year he wants to make it a round trip. james has been training at the reservoir near his home several times a week. he will swim all the way out to alcatraz, touch it, and turn around and come back to shore. >> the length is three miles, but my record is going to be the world's youngest kid to do it. >> well, good luck, james. he will make that attempt tuesday morning. his coach will be swimming right beside him.

don't worry, his mother will be following them in a kayak. and in the north bay, deputies want to remind people headed to stinson beach for the 106th annual dipsy race today. the 7.5-mile footrace goes from mill valley to stinson beach. organizers say it is the oldest trail race in america. parking, of course, will be scarce, and there will be large crowds. the race starts at 8:30 this morning. frances, i think this is the kind of weather that runners like? >> yeah, it's great for runners. temperatures right now are mainly in the 50s. clear conditions around many parts of the bay area. but it is starting to get a little cloudier at the coast, along the peninsula coast. the clouds are coming in from the south near monterey bay a live look in san jose. we have clear skies there. temperatures are on the cool side works i is great for runners, as carolyn mentioned. san francisco is 56. oakland 56, as well.

mountain view is at 60 degrees. san jose currently at 59 degrees. morgan hill 55 and half moon bay at 55 degrees. over at sfo, nothing but blue and clear skies, as well. in santa rosa, it's 50 degrees. napa, though, milder at 57. novato only 48 degrees right now. near 630 fairfield. concord upper 350's, as well as livermore. here's a look from mt. tam. we are looking south. the difference today is we are seeing more of an onshore flow. the clouds are going to move in and the on shore breeze will help cool temperatures around the bay area. although we see a lot of sunshine, temperatures will be coming down. it will be cooler, still warm, though, inland. increasing clouds overnight because of that onshore flow. and then the cool-down continues through midweek. i'll show thaw with the accuweather seven-day forecast. so your high for today still nice and warm in san jose. 80 degrees, as well in as in morgan hill. and also along the peninsula we will find 77 in palo alto.

along the coast temperatures will be coming down, as well. 61 in half moon bay. downtown san francisco 66 degrees. and cloudier here along the coast. it will be breezy in some of the north bay valleys with temperatures in the upper 70s. petaluma at 77, as well as san rafael. napa is 77 degrees, as well. in the east bay, kind of t shorts and shirt weather with sunshine. oakland warming up to 73 degrees and union city 77. fremont 78. the warmest inland locations will only reach the mid-80s today. 86 in brentwood, 85 in antioch and 80 degrees in walnut creek. if you are evidence today the san mateo county fair, you will seed the sunglasses and sunscreen. cool start at 65 degrees although narrowly mild. then we will see mid-70s through the afternoon hours. starting to cool down near 70 after sunset at 8:32 this

while filling up at a gas station at a dallas-fort worth gas station in texas thursday. the thieves ran off 30 seconds after the crime started. their victim survived. now police and fbi agents want to know if this robbery is link today a deadly kidnapping in the same area. dramatic video shows just how far one driver went to get away from the police.
