week. these are people that we interact with every day of our lives. our law enforcement has done a wonderful job, the orlando police department, and sheriff, and the f.b.i. did a wonderful job of getting the bodies removed from pulse and the medical examiner did a great job of identifying the bodies. this is a wonderful community we live in. a wonderful state. we are th bell melting pot in the world with 20 million people living here and over 100 million visiting here because it is a wonderful place to live and to visit. wen to work hard to take care of the families and make sure we try to get this community back as quickly as we can. right now it is time to grieve for each family member that lost a of whod one or who has someone in the hospital injured. i turn it over to orlando chef. >> good morning. i want to provide more

information about our initial response and citizen rescue of many, many people. again, we had an extra duty off duty officer working for pulse nightclub in full police unit finish. at 2:00, he responded to "shots fires," he engaged in a gun battle with the suspect near one of the entrances. shortly after that, additional officers responded. those additional officers made entry while the suspect was shooting and engaged in another gun battle with the suspect, forced him to stop shooting and retreat to the bathroom where we believe he had several hostages. at that time we were able to save and rescue dozens of injured and not injured and get them out of the club. it stabilized based on

statements made by the suspect about explosives about possible bomb vests. we secured everything and called swat and we did set up for an explosive breach on the bathroom wall where we knew there were approximately 15 people in open posing bath will radios. based on statements made bit suspect, based on information we received from the suspect and from the hostages and people inside, we believed further loss of hive was imminent. i made the decision to commence the rescueation and do the explosive breach. the explosive breach did not penetrate the wall completely. we used our armored vehicle to punch a hole in the wall and there is a hole in the wall 2' off the round and 2' or 3' wide

very briefly about what our primary mission for all of us today is, the identification of the victims and the notification of the family. as you heard from the mayor we have confirmed the identity of 48 of the 49 victims. the last identity confirmation is pending right new so we anticipate having that name shortly. a number of those, as you heard from the mayor, we have notified their next of kin. that is our 100% priority mission today. as you are aware the city of orlando is advertising the names of the victims as we make notification to the family member. i will explain briefly how that is going. we have teams of agents, orlando police department and file agent we are deploy as we identify the victims throughout the state and throughout the nation to identify the family members to let them know their halved one is deceased the when we have con filled that, we will post that

department of law enforcement, the orlando police department, the on county sheriff, and the men and women of the averages have been working tirelessly over the last day and a half. on before of the federal government i would like to thank the governor and the other elects official whose have been here today for their help, their interest in what is going on here. we are working very closely at the united states attorney office with our department at natural security division and with the f.b.i., of court, and with a.t.f an amazing amount has been done in over 24 hours. as has been explained almost all of the victims have been identified and the notification process is ongoing. we have been collecting a great amount of electronic and

physical evidence there is an ongoing criminal investigation that is in early statements. we do not know in anyone else will be charged in connection with the crime. we have no reason to believe that anyone connected to this crime is placing the public in imminent danger at this time. but this is an investigation of other persons. we are working diligently as we can on that with teams of prosecutors and tombs of agents working around-the-clock getting search warrants and court orders. in anyone else was involved in this crime they will be prosecuteed. i now turn it over to the a.t.f. i now turn it over to the a.t.f. special agent in charge, >> good morning. first i would like to extend

f.b.i. and our state and local partners today. we have a team of people here that are able to provide we can to this vex. i would like to now turn it over to the f.b.i. special agent in charge. >> good morning, i am special agent in charge of the any fay field office in tampa including the orlando resident agency. yesterday you heard from special agent in charge, ron hopper who did a commendable job as the commander for the f.b.i. something to tack away from this is the event such as this as we learned in listen lend -- in 9/11 brings the community together including law enforcement. you can see everyone is represented and we all work together from the beginning from the time at 2:00 in the morning, when the shooting began everyone rallied to work the case as one force. we have a joint terrorism task force which all of the agencies represented spoke and are

represented on the joint terrorism task force so we work cases side-by-side and a last investigation so far has been disclosed to you. the main thing we looked at in the beginning is the victims. as you heard there are 49 that are deceased and 48 have been identified and 24 families have been identified and we brought down 34 victims and witness specialists who will work with the familiars it get the resources they need, has property resources from the family field office, atlanta field office, jacksonville field office and quantico, virginia, the laboratory superintendent down shooting reconstructionist and as of last night all the victims were removed from the

certainly touched by this. many of them saw carnage they would never see in any other location. if you think about it this is not a war zone. this is a civilized society and we had to deal with something unthinkable which 50 people or 49 victims and an individual died yesterday. many of the law enforcement officers had to go in and observe that. now it is about putting our community and our nation back together and at the same time ensuring those individuals would had to deal with what they saw yesterday are able to come back to work and do their job. i am working with all of our pans to make sure we take care of the brave souls who responded. we are turning it over to the we are turning it over to the attorney general.

[ inaudible ] >> we had a team of crisis negotiators. they talked to the suspect. they were trying to get as muchness as possible. they focused what we could do to resolve the situation. >> you made the unemployment estimate decision... [ inaudible ] let me say i am unidea by a great team of people from the orlando police department but the sheriff and our federal partners and the information i received from my team is that loss of life was imminent so we had to make that decision, it was a hard decision to make but i wasn't alone and i had a team of people advise me. we all knew it was the right

[ inaudible ] >> i have not heard there. >> was this surveillance video in the club? >> video surveillance? i am not sure. >> why was there a three hour delay? >> there was a barricaded hostage situation. we were negotiating with him. there was talk of bombs and explosives. when the talk became a crisis when we knew there would be imminent loss of life and we had to make that decision. he was not asking for a lot and we were doing the asking. >> what is it like to make decision with people injured in the club that you want rescue personnel to help them and maybe save their life but you have to

make another decision to wait to prevent more loss of life what was it like to make that decision knowing people...could be losing their live because they could not get medical attention and you neededded to wait? >> it was a hard decision but it was the right decision. our number priority is say lives so it was the right decision to make. it was a tough decision knowing people's lives would be placed in danger and our officer's lives would be placed in danger by the entry but we train for that. we have some of the most heroic and greatest swat team member around and they did a fabulous job and save manies many lives. >> did you recover explosives? >> i don't know about any explosives recovered. >> was eight suicide -- was

eight suicide conversation? >> we could not determine it by connections we had.
