now at 11:00, somber remembrances coast to coast, family and friends and strangers in orlando, here in the bay area and across the country gather together to pause, reflect and stand in solidarity with the victims of the worst mass shooting in u.s. history. good evening, i'm dan ashley. >> and i'm ama dietz. the fbi is going through items taken through a raid from killer omar mateen, they are trying to figure out how he became radicalized, as he pledged his life to isis. >> mateen's wife said he considered disney world as an alternate location for the attack, a spokesperson declined to comment on the threat. president obama will be in orlando to pay his respects. and coming up, kate marzullo

was there where others were at the vigil. >> reporter: ama, dan, it was a massive, emotional and symbolic vigil here tonight. you can see what remains, balloons, flowers, candles. so many people who needed to come together to feel strength and support in the wake of terror. thousands of people that you could hear a pin drop as the church bell tolled 49 times, one for each victim of the nightclub shooting. >> our message from our friend, they would have the same answer, they haven't heard from him. they know he was at the club. >> reporter: rodolfo's family and friends had the hardest wait. he was the last victim. >> i sort of felt in my heart he was gone. >> reporter: heartbreak at this vigil, despite the bright colors and candle light.

not everybody knew a victim, but everybody is touched by the tragedy. >> we came out to see everyone all the time. always the same place, people, even though you don't know them you have been introduced and see them around. >> reporter: this event, a chance for a community to get closer. >> it feels right, feels better. >> reporter: a wounded community vowing to be strong. friends, remembering the one they lost. >> he had no bad bone in his body. and he loved to dance. we're sure that he is dancing up there right now. >> reporter: as for the survivors, orlando regional medical center is treating 29 patients tonight. i was there earlier and talked with a cousin of the man who was shot twice in the stomach in the club. she said brian was just coming out of his second surgery in critical condition but she has since texted me that he is now stable. live in orlando, kate marzullo,

abc 7 news. abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington continues our team coverage. >> she is live in walnut creek with the show of support happening there tonight, alyssa. >> reporter: dan and ama, i'm told this is the only gay bar where there was a candlelight vigil here. the latest names were put on the board, of those killed in the orlando shooting. there is a huge output of support, where people are leaving flowers and standing in solidarity with people all over the world, fighting hate with love. outside walnut creek's oldest gay bar, where they pay tribute to the shooting victims. >> luis vielma, 22.

>> reporter: outside, mourners held candles and flags vowing not to be destroyed by hate. >> organizers wanted to gather here, because club 1220 was one of the first gay establishments in contra costa county. >> our only choice to go to a place to bring with one of our own kind was san francisco. so when we did open here i think we were all blown away how many people lived out here, and how many people would come to the bar. but we did have to create a very safe environment. >> reporter: in orlando, the gunman invaded that safe haven. >> they are increasing security. >> no more backpacks, inspecting purses, we're all tuning up our own innocenceme. we're in a different world now. >> reporter: people say no matter what, love will trump

hate. and coming up at 11:13, we'll take you to san francisco's castro district for the spontaneous tribute now in place to honor the victims. as we showed you earlier a moment of silence took place during the warriors and cavs game. >> yeah, the dubs were just a game away from scoring a championship, but as you know they couldn't seal the deal. let's talk to abc 7 news sports director larry beil, live at oracle arena. >> reporter: lebron james and the cavs kept the champagne on ice with a 112-97 win over the warriors in game five of the nba. everything started out fine for the warriors, this was quite the shootout, no draymond green, no

problem. klay thompson, and lebron jame very aggressive not worried at all about being defended by draymond because of the suspension, he had 41, kyrie irving, also 41, first time in history the two teammates went the same in the game. 112-97 the final. >> it sucks that it happened tonight with the opportunity we had had tonight to close out a series at home in front of our home fans. it's a tough feeling but we'll be ready. come out with confidence and get the job done. >> we had a mindset that we wanted to come out here and extend our period and have another opportunity to fight for another day. that was our main concern. and we were able to do that. >> so the warriors will take a three-games to two lead with them back to cleveland. game six is thursday night. back in cleveland, remember they beat the cavs in six last year and certainly would be hoping at this point to repeat the feat as

to the entire lgbt community. lady gaga called the crime an attack on humanity. people in san francisco are finding comfort grieving together for the victims of the orlando shooting, and many are flocking to the castro. >> and that is where we heard more on the story. >> reporter: dan and ama, people continue to drop off flowers at this morning at 18th and castro, and just up the street, another display honoring the victims. under the rainbow flag at harvey milk plaza, memories of the victims in chalk. this man said adding each name was really important. >> to really articulate that these people are just in the beginning of life, becoming an did you live, living in a world today where we think that coming out is not a big deal. >> reporter: others were asked if they wanted to talk. at one point she had four people in her circle.

bouncer. she had gone to orlando to take care of her 85-year-old grandmother. star shelton says that she and morris remained best of friends besides living thousands of miles apart. they spoke every day. >> i sent her a text message, she said i miss you, her last words were i miss you too. and i'm thankful that i have that and i am glad she knowsñi missed her and loved her a lot. >> star says she is glad her friend didn't die in vain. you can get more on push alerts and instant updates. and in san francisco, a good samaritan jumped into a runaway suv and stopped it from running into a lot of people. the driver just crashed at 17th and guerrero, forcing the car to

stop, officers caught the southbound suspect a short time later. one person killed and three others rescued from a burning two-story building in los angeles tonight. the building was supposed to be vacant. a person of interest is being interviewed by investigators. the fire crew quickly as you see there, 145 firefighters who responded to the scene had to quickly transition to defensive mode. it is now under control. all right, let's move now and talk more about the weather forecast, a little cooler out there today, quite lovely. >> meteorologist sandy patel has more. >> we'll continue to see the temperatures coming down in the next few days, cool enough to make you wonder if it is really june. take a look at live doppler hd, clouds passing through with temperatures in the 50s and 60s. a live look from the east bay hills camera. you can still see that the camera is bouncing around, with

copa america continued tonight at levy stadium. shutting out jamaica, 3-0, last game for either team as neither will advance to the next round. also tonight, mexico and venezuela tied at one. the u.s. won their group and advanced to the finals, not bad, they will play ecuador in seattle. all right, well speaking of sports we have larry out at oracle. >> yeah, the nba finals not over yet, sadly. >> dan you keep doing scores and standings like that, we may draft you into the sports. >> i know put me in there. >> the warriors not ready, had a chance to capture the nba title, lebron james had other

of the warriors? we saw it vividly tonight in his absence, because with draymond serving his one-game suspension, the cavs beat the dubs in the final. draymond green was away at the coliseum complex sitting and watching the tv screen, along with the gm and bob lynch. they were great, giving james grief all night long. klay thompson, fantastic early on, 63six three's in the first half, the dubs and the cavs just went at it. klay finishing with 37 points, pretty much everybody in the golden state uniform went stone cold in the second half. lebron james, tied at 61 at the break, things really get bad for the warriors here with andrew
