party as we count down to game six of the nba finals and i promise you it's going to be be just as loud ain here as it is in quicken loans arena tonight where the cavs are hoping they can stay alive and force game seven. ezeli is warming up early. warriors are hoping the next thing on their schedule will be be a victory parade next week. dan, ama, back to you. >> we're hopingor for that, too, larry. thank you so much. >> let's get on to some of the news tonight. the sex scandal involving oakland police and now other departments as well just expanded again today. >> abc 7 news has learned other prostitutes are now contacting at least one city leader to report they, too, have had relations with police officers. >> abc 7 news reporter vic lee is live in oakland police headquarter was the latest on this story. vic? >> reporter: well, dan, first ever all, about an hour ago, we saw mayor libby schaaf go into police headquarters over there, obviously to talk with police officials about this growing

scandal. this sordid story keeps taking more twists and turns. now the san francisco police department is reviewing a possible connection to the young victim. the sfpd will only say it's aware of an investigation to see if any members of its department had inappropriate contact with a young victim who goes by the name celeste. the review involved several officers who joined sfpd as laterals or officer whoz are members of another police force. in this case, we're told they are former members of the oak land police department. this on the heels of the announcement by oakland mayor libby schaaf that she fired the interim police chief ben farrow who she appointed only six days ago. reason? he reportedly had an extramarital affair more than a decade ago. this has rammped up an already astonishing chain of events in a department that's under federal

oversight. so far, five cops have been placed on leave while they're being investigated in connection with the sex scandal. investigations extend to the richmond police force and now the alameda county d.a.'s office has placed one of its investigators, former opd captain rick orozco on leave in connection with a case. >> for me, it's the most serious challenge right here is the violation of young girls. >> reporter: city councilman no noel says many are coming forward saying there's more to the story. >> but there are people now starting to talk that are engaged in prostitution and are coming forth to say, yes, you know, this happened, that happened at this place, that place. >> reporter: with officers? >> with officers. >> reporter: guy yoes says he's given the information to oakland police. vic lee, abc 7 news. abc 7 news was at san francisco city hall today as supervisor john auf alos upped

the ante on police department reform. he proposes withholding $200 million from the sfpd budget. the money would be released only if the department shows that it is implementing reforms regarding its use of force policy. >> we want to make sure that we have clear metrics about how to make sure that the reforms are in place about minimal use of force, about tdeescalation, identifying officers that could be problem officers. >> the police department would be required to publish quarterly reports on how it is implementing reforms before the board of supervisors could release those funds. now to the orlando shooting massacre. sources are telling abc news that investigators are considering at least two charges against the wife of gunman omar mateen na noor mateen used to live in rodeo in cost ra contra county. authorities are weighing whether there's evidence to charge her for failing to alert police about a crime and providing

false statements to the fbi. >> the first funerals of the victims from orlando took place today. they took place as president obama and vice president biden traveled to florida. they laid wreaths at a memorial with the victims and met with sur viers an family members. the president says their grief is, kwoeflt, beyond description. >> asked why does this keep happening, and they pleaded that we do more to stop the carnage. they don't care about the politics. neither do i. >> in honor of the massacre, 49 lights on the bay bridge will be dedicated to each of the people killed inside pulse nightclub. the first dedication will be to 20-year-old luis omar come poe. he was visiting orlando from cleveland. the remaining dedications will be posted throughout next week. a funeral for fallen san jose police officer will be held next week. >> earlier today, a procession escorted officer michael

katherman's body to a funeral home in los gatos. today we are learning from one of the good samaritans who tried to help the officer after his motorcycle was hit. >> abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen is live with the story. chris? >> reporter: good afternoon, a very somber day here in san j e jose. before we get to that good smair stan tan, we're live aft police headquarters. i want to show you the growing memorial in front of pd where a number of people have stopped by to drop by flowers, candles have been lit up in honor of the fallen officer. his procession today bringing out many people who just wanted to show their support. they came from all parts of the bay area and beyond. a gathering of law enforcement, grieving the loss of one of their own. at 10th and horning tuesday afternoon, san jose police officer michael katherman was on his motorcycle when a minivan turned in front of him. the 34-year-old crashed into it and later died at the hospital. >> he's bleeding bad.

he's hurt. not moving. >> reporter: cement driver dan sullivan was in the area when the accident happened and rushed to officer katherman's side. another good samaritan performed cpr as sullivan assisted. >> when you see a police officer down, not a pretty sight. anybody down but when you see a police officer in the line of duty, something i'll never forget. >> reporter: officer katherman was the 13th sjpd officer to die in the line of duty. >> when i saw the collision and saw the police officer bike d n down, i was out of my truck in two seconds. >> reporter: sky7 hd was overhead today as officer katherman, casket was transferred from the santa clara county medical exam innerer's office to his family to be taken to a funeral home in los gaut toesz. along the way, ire fighters and first responders paid their respects to a man who dedicated his life to serving others. at police headquarters, a

makeshift memorial continues to grow as community members come out to say good-bye. a fitting display, a heartfelt tribute. officer katherman loved his family, his community, and his job with the san jose police department. a public memorial will take place tuesday morning at the s.a.p. center. chris nguyen, abc 7 news. >> and that funeral for officer katherman, here are the details. it will be tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the s.a.p. center in san jose. and as soon as we get any more details, we will let you know. another san jose police officer was injured this morning while riding his motorcycle. the sergeant was traveling side by side with another patrol bike when the two made contact knocking over one of the bikes. the officer went to the hospital with moderate injuries. a palo alto high school teacher is in custody accused much prolefting one of his students. ran ne ferrell sent a 15-year-old girl a private message asking her to meet him inside his classroom last week where he allegedly groped her

right now wildlife officials are keeping an eye on a bear spotted in wine country. drivers saw it around noon walking along highway 128 just east healdsburg. chp shared a foet at tphoto of . wildlife officials say it's common to see bears in wine country. they're keeping an eye on this one to make sure it leaves on its own. medical mare 1 advocates protested in santa rosa today against a raid of a large land use to make hash oil. officials from care by design say yesterday's raid by the sonoma county sheriff was a mistake. the company says they operate legally and their product is used primarily for therapy and pain relief. the founder of the company was taken into custody. san rafael firefighters helped catch a juvenile believed to be be responsible for setting four small fires in the past two days. first fire was set tuesday. three more fires broke out

yesterday, all burning brush and dry grass around the city. firefighters who responded to one near san pedro school saw the suspect and held on to him for police. the juvenile will be charged with felony arson. there are big changes coming this year to how students are enrolled in math classes at san francisco's public high schools. beginning this fall, schools will place incoming ninth graders in varying levels of math classes based on their performance. previous performance placement tests and completed course work will allow some incoming freshmen to be placed into higher levels of math such as geometry. the district says it's the way to reduce inequality in math classes and give students a way to challenge themselves. >> we want students to find success in higher mathematics, algebra 2, calculus. >> a 2014 state law requires all public school districts to adopt similar math education policies. politics with a mix of comedy. the eighth grader who brought everyone at his graduation ceremony to their
