special message for her counterparts in cleveland. >> lebron is a cry baby, and i'm from oaktown. i'm just keeping it real and calling it like i call it. >> reporter: go dubs. in oakland, eric thomas, abc 7 news. >> well, the fans are concerned should the warriors be worried? >> it's a little tense but it is exciting. abc 7 news sports director larry biel is here with that perspective and what happened last night. what happened? >> it all went bad. i want to pay the guy who paid $49,000 for the ticker and see what he does and see if he needs an assistant. history is actually on the warriors side here. home teams are 15-3 all-time in game sevens of the finals. the road team hasn't won since 1978. the problem is the warriors look extremely vulnerable the last couple of games partly because of injuries partly because lebron james looked very much like the king. he scored 41 points in back-to-back finals games with the cavs facing elimination.

4:00 and 4:30 abc's coverage of game seven begins with the warriors and cavs in oakland. tip-off at 5:00 p.m. following the game join abc 7 news sports director larry biel and sports anchor mike shum been for "after the game" with analysis from adonal foyle. >> now to the business of basketball, a judge heard from both supporters and opponents of a new warriors arena planned for san francisco's mission bay. attorneys for the city and the warriors urged that the project should go forward during today's one-day trial. the mission bay alliance argued that the arena would cause hardships for patients and employees at ucsf's new medical center along third street. there's no jury involved. a judge will likely issue a ruling within the next month or so. today pro toasters in oakland rallied outside police headquarters calling for all officers who knew about a police sex scandal to be disciplined. drivers passing by honked in support. the protesters said they want to

know all the names of officers involved in the scandal. two protesters climbed flag piles and hanged a sign that said "opd guilty of human trafficking and statutory raep." a sexual misconduct investigation is looking into at least five officers who may have had sex with a teenager sometimes in exchange for telling her about prostitution stings. a family of a man killed by san francisco police officers is officers shot and killed luis in the mission district in april. police say gone gore ra ran at officers with a knife. according to john burris, the family's attorney, witnesses say gone garr ra was not acting aggressive lly with the knife when police arrived. claim is the first step toward filing a civil lawsuit. the trial date for the man accused of killing morgan hill teen aimger sierra lamar is set for august. the ruling was made inside a san jose courtroom this morning. again-year-old sierra lamar was last seen in 2012 while walking to a school bus stop.

her body has never been found. prosecutors say sierra's dna was found in torres' car. the case has been delayed multiple times in the past. torres who remains in jail could face the death penalty if convicted. a man was rescued in the ocean off san francisco this morning thanks to some alert swirms. swimmers off china beach spotted somebody kicking and sinking in the water. an off-duty lifeguard helped the man to shore where the swimmers performed cpr until rescue crews got there. the man in his 50s was wearing clothes and a jacket. there's no indication how he ended up in the ocean. the man was still unconscious when he was rushed to the hospital. moving on to the weather now, not exactly a great day heading into father's day weekend. >> this a live picture from our camera in emeryville looking back toward the bay. lots of clouds and sprinkles. kind of east coast like. >> especially for mid-june. a little muggy today. abc 7 meteorologist drew tuma is here with a look at what's going on. drew, even some raindrops. >> dan and kristen, june gloom

is certainly living up toity name today. a stubborn cold front off the coast has kept the clouds intact and has brought a couple of drops into the bay area. so going in a little tighter, live doppler 7 hd, we love to track some rain, love to track it in june. we have a little bit of light rain moving into the north bay over the past hour, half hour. a little light shower through mill valley down to san rafael. so limited in terms of coverage but we will be be dealing with a couple of drops of the next hour or soxt the reason why? there's the cold front offshore. that's going to slowly move onshore the next 12 hours or so. so the clouds are going to be with us this evening. rainfall we're wr it has fallen it's very light in general. we do notice future weather hour by hour, we start off with clouds on your saturday. we will end that saturday on a sunny note. it will be a cool start to the weekend but a warm finish on sunday. we'll track all the changes in the next 48 hours coming up in that full accuweather forecast. kristen? >> thank you, drew. it's more than 100 miles way

from here, but the so-called sherpa fire in southern california could impact your father's day weekend travel plans. the fire is burning 20 miles north of santa barbara. it has periodically forced the closure of highway 101. abc 7 news reporter rob hayes joins us live from that area with the latest on the fire battle. rob? >> reporter: well, we've been up on this hillside for the past five hours just watching a steady stream of air tankers and helicopters attack the sherpa fire from the sky. just a few minutes ago, flames came close to cresting that ridge, but crews are working hard to keep the flames from spreading into this canyon and beyond. this was the scene last night and early this morning practically a carbon copy of what happened had when the sherpa fire started on wednesday. the sun went down, the sundowner winds picked up and the fire exploded. >> those 50-mile-an-hour winds

kick up and all our firefighters and aircraft have to get grounded and we have to go into defensive mode and just because of the safety only. and we end up losing a lot more acrea acreage. >> reporter: more than 4,000 acres have already burned, more than 1200 personnel battling the flames. thousand fire officials are bracing for a serious heat wave with triple digits by monday and possibly not easing up for a while. >> we're still looking at above-normal temperatures potentially through the end of the month. so this could be a long fight to get over this current fire. >> reporter: throughout the day, crews have been hitting this fire from the air. this dc-10 dropping the retardant designed to keep fires from spreading. it leaves a pink mess behind, but pink is better than scorched. the forecast tonight calling for even more of those strong sundowner winds. the good news is, no injuries have been reported and only one

structure an outbuilding has burned. reporting live, rob hayes, abc 7 news. >> rob, thanks very much. a wildfire meantime burning dangerously close to homes and buildings in napa county has been contained. the fire started northeast of st. helena around noon today, quickly spread to 12 acres fueled bury dry brush. firefighters hit it from the ground and the air keeping it from reaching any buildings. no one was hurt. firefighters will stay on the scene throughout the evening to put out any hot spots. >> a brush fire has forced people to evacuate homes northeast of stockton. this blaze here has scorched 60 acres along comanche parkway. several structures have already burned. the fire is only 10% contained. in the aftermath of the orlando shootings, gun sales are booming and now stricter gun control bills are winding their way through the political process. vic lee is live in san mateo with the story. vic, we see both of these consequences after mass

shootings. >> reporter: that's correct. it's a phenomenon that happens after mass shootings. now, perhaps in fact, dan, you can hear sporadic gun fire from the shooting range we are told lots of people are booking classes to learn how to shoot. now, one gun store on the peninsula we're told had lines out the door on monday after that mass shooting in orlando. >> well, you should come in here and do your trading before. this way you know what kind of a gun is appropriate for you. >> reporter: the phones just won't stop ringing at bay area firearms in burlingame. one of the largest training businesses of its kind in the bay area. this while new shipments of firearms continue to arrive. owner scott jackson says they train on average 250 people a month and business he says has gone through the roof since the mass shootings in orlando. on monday, jackson says he sold 50,000 rounds of ammunition and his classroom bookings are skyrocketing a phenomenon that seems to happen after mass shootings.

are concerned that what happened here a week ago could be repeated somewhere else by the same person, and that's why they want you to see this surveillance video. it happened a week ago around 1:00 in the morning in front of dirty nellie's on the 2300 block of irving street. a customer stepped out to text someone when this man, a stranger, stabbed him in the back as he walked past him. there had been no altercation and the victim was not robbed. police say they can't find a motive. >> it was completely unprovoked. this person didn't know who he was. the suspect wasn't a patron in the barment he was just walking randomly. he saw a victim and took advantage and stabbed him and continued to walk away. >> reporter: the surveillance video shows an asian man, 5'6", about 150 pounds weari$150 poun prescription glass and holding a sharp object in his left hand twirling it. the victim described as a white male didn't see him coming.

construction site. >> a sign of peace on the streets where violence has occurred. >> couch seen here following her arrest faces murder and mayhem charges. she and another man arrested have also been linked to another stabbing in san francisco in may. a family narrowly avoided a tragedy when a traffic signal pole came crashing into their home. san francisco police believe a drunk driver is to blame. matt keller has more. >> reporter: what a crazy scene on lafayette and lewis streets in santa clara. police say a bmw suv went through a red light just after 10:30 last night, hit another car, sheared off a traffic signal pole, and crashed into this home. >> it was like a bomb went off right outside. all we knew is our window was flying at us. >> patrick paul was in the living room with his wife, son and friend. >> when we went back in, we saw that the couch had moved away from the wall because where the pole came in was like exactly where i was sitting.

so we came back in and like that was me where this light pole came into the building. >> reporter: matt and patrick both went to the hospital with minor injuries to get patched up after they were cut by blass. matt's wife and his son are okay. the man police say was behind the wheel of the bmw, 21-year-old santa clara resident francisco cortez cruz was caught by officers walking away from the scene. he was arrested on suspicion of felony dui and felony hit-and-run. a passenger in cortez-cruz's car was also arrested on a drunk in public charge. >> i'm upset about the fact that this could have ended in a fatality tonight. that would have been just horrif horrific. >> reporter: the paul family say something like this has never happened before but they were warned when they moved in that cars have crashed into the yard. that's why they don't let their son play out front. >> hopefully this is our once in a million thing that kind of happens to you. >> reporter: the patrick family says they'll stay with their friend matt until everything here can be cleaned up.

future weather, hour by hour for you, you wake up tomorrow morning with those clouds. that cold front is going to sweep through here first thing in the morning so that means by the afternoon it's going to wipe out those clouds but that cold front is going to leave us with cooler than normal temperatures once again. so you see 60s on the coast, 70s around the bay. we'll call it mildish inland in the low 80s, but as we go into father's day temperatures are going to take off once again as a lot of sunshine, very high uv index, and by 4:00 in the afternoon, yeah, inland we're back in the 90s, lots of 80s around the bay, 60s on the coast as we welcome summer on monday, we'll continue to warm. so we will see numbers increase as we go into the early part of next week. accuweather seven day forecast tomorrow we start with clouds, end with sunshine. nice sunday. monday the summer solstice as we welcome the official summer. then we stay in the 90s tuesday and wednesday before temperatures slowly start to

opening statements began today in the criminal trial against pg&e about the san bruno gas explosion. they're accused of on strkt the investigation. pg&e faces a $500 million fine if convicted on all 13 counts. the 2010 blast killed eight people and leveled a san bruno neighborhood. despite increasing pressure in the wake of the orlando nightclub shooting don't expect current restrictions on blood donations by gay and bisexual men to be relaxed anytime soon.

an executive with blood systems research institute in san francisco says any change in the fda's policy is still years away. the fda says there's still not enough scientific evidence to remove the restrictions. current rules require gay and bisexual men wait 12 months after their last sexual encounter before donating blood. that rule replaced a lifetime ban enacted during the height of the aids crisis in the 1980s. the cdc says fewer high schoolers are smoking but officials are concerned about what they're doing instead. the report says nearly 11% of high school kids smoke cigarettes that's the lowest you number in 24 years. but instead of smoking the cdc study says that 24% of high schoolers are using e-cigarettes you now. it's a trend that seems to be growing. in 2011 the number was less than 5%. cdc's director calls these numbers worrisome. when abc 7 news at 5 continues, we'll take you to yosemite two hours and counting
