at 3:30. then the abc7 news warriors pregame show at 4:00. then at 4:30abc's coverage of game 7 begins right here on abc7 with the warriors and the cavs in oakland. tip-off at 5:00 p.m. if you are not headed to oracle, abc7 is the only place to see game seven. after that join abc7 news sports director larry beil and sports anchor mike shumann for "after the game" with analysis from warriors ambassador adonal foyle. we have developing news out of the east bay. fire crews are keeping an eye out for hotspots after a three-alarm fire damaged three buildings in oakland. it started 7:15 last night on walnut street. that's near foothill boulevard. there was a fire in a nearby warehouse that spread quickly to buildings on foothill. a church and a realty office were burned. investigators are working to figure out how that fire

started. in contra costa county a two-alarm fire has destroyed a single-story home. this video is from contra costa fire. it happened around 10:00 last night in bay point on beach drive. no one was hurt, but the family dog has minor burns on his paws. firefighters say that the home is a total loss with $135,000 in damage. nearby downed powerlines may have started the blaze, but the cause is still under investigation. the impact of that devastating five-alarm fire in san francisco will be felt for some time. flames spread through several buildings. while there are no serious injuries, more than three dozen people cannot return home. abc7 news reporter lisa amin gulezian told us it took four hours to contain the fire.

>> reporter: thick smoke hung over bernal heights for hours. as fire ripped through six buildings at mission and 29th streets. early indications are the fire started near the rear of cole's hardware store. >> we do have products with chemicals, and we don't really know how it started. but unfortunately that might have helped spread it across the whole building. >> this was an aggressive fire. firefighters had a hard time with it. at one point firefighters had to get out of the building and fight it from the outside. >> within the hardware build we may be dealing with flammables. i believe the prevailing winds come outs of the west, flowing west to east, when the windows in the rear of the building broke, it added wind and oxygen to the fire that caused it to increase in intensity. >> the intense flames created so much smoke that a shelter in place area was issued for everyone within five blocks of the area. the owner of this restaurant

at 29th and mission watched the chaos around him. >> my biggest concern is the neighborhood and the people who live in the building, number one, and the safety of everybody around. >> so he opened up his kitchen to firefighters and volunteers. because doing something made accepting this a little easier. down the street a man started sandbagging a neighbor's business. in this neighborhood every little bit helps. in san francisco, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. >> as we said, no one was seriously hurt, but what's next for those who lost their homes? abc7 news reporter sergio quintana spoke to some who are staying at a temporary shelter. >> reporter: as the fire raged in the distance, residents trickled into the park lot. kids, adults, seniors. all without a home and some in shock. >> what was it like leaving home? >> stressful, scary. >> i was scared to death. >> i woke up to a fire alarm, and i thought maybe somebody was

playing with it so i went out to see what was going on and the police and fire department said get out! you can't go back in! >> and to see how much they can preserve as much of their life as possible against the mayor said he will work on helping them transition. crisis in the mission, an issue in how fires destroy. that's really my concern. >> the residents will have a temporary shelter for several nights. they will get timely updates when they can retrieve their belongings, if any survive the fire. this is also the first fire since the new good samaritan ordinance. >> we need folks to step up and provide an affordable place. under the new law landlord can provide a home with the same rent control price residents lost in a fire for two years and then rent controls would be lifted for that landlord. >> in san francisco, abc7 news. we want to thank all of the viewers who sent in pictures and videos of the mission district fire.

game 7. the if you are wondering who is going to referee, the nba says danny crawford, nike callaghan and monte mccutchen will be officiating game seven. >> turmoil in the oakland police department. the department had their third chief in just nine days while a sex scandal swirls and another involving racist texts unfolds. leslie brinkley has the story. >> it is embarrassing. >> reporter: city leaders are shaking their heads in disbelief over a growing sex scandal in the oakland police department. at least 14 officers may have had an inappropriate relationship with a teenager. she goes by the name celeste. more are implicated. and another scandal involving the homicide sergeant for allowing his mistress to help write police reports. he could face charges.

a clearly disgusted oakland mayor put a fourth person, city administrator, in charge for now. >> i'm here to run a police department, not a frat house. >> this city council member is ready to have federal regulators take over running opd. >> too many years with that negative behavior and now i'm supposed to accept it, pay your salary and continue to do that and violate my children and families? absolutely not. >> young people volunteering on the streets say that the scandals are a breach of trust. >> young people volunteering said the unfolding scandals are a breach of trust. >> i'm really sad about it. >> this outreach coordinator for sex trafficking victims is appalled. >> even if an officer approached them, then they may get accused of messing around. it's kind of weird right now. the position that the cops are in dealing with the prostitutes. >> not only will oakland have to recruit a new chief, but they will have to look long and hard at how they are recruiting police officers. i'm leslie brinkley, abc7 news.

[bells tolling] >> today marks one week since 49 lives were lost in the orlando nightclub shooting. the st. james cathedral church in downtown orlando remembered those victims. the bells rang 49 times at 2:02 this morning. that is the time the shooting began. each chime representing and honoring the people killed. family, friends, even total strangers said their final good-byes to some of the 49 people murdered during last week's nightclub massacre. you are looking now at mourners packing a church to remember 21-year-old corey conell. he wanted to serve his community by becoming a firefighter. and yesterday local first responders honored him and his family in a special way.

>> corey is the kind of guy you want to work side by side with. thousand dollars that he is now a firefighter somewhere. >> a traffic accident marred one funeral. a driver collided with two sheriff's deputies escorting a funeral procession. both are in stable condition this morning. 494-year-old woman was ticketed for failure to yield burks she has not been criminalally charged. the major league soccer san jose earthquakes played in orlando last night for the first sporting event in that area since the attack. >> ladies and gentlemen, please join us in a moment of silence to honor the 49 victims who lost their lives and 53 injured during last weekend's tragic event. >> players for the quake and orlando united stopped playing when the game reached the had 49th minute. fans also paused in silence for one minute. >> an artist has donated her

time and money to raise money for the orlando victims. abc7 news was there at 16th and market streets when the artist, named deb, started creating a painting that will be auctioned off. she's friends with the owners of the lookout bar. >> i just wanted to do something to help. i was sickened and upset. i just felt ill. the lookout bar has already been really supportive to this horrible event. they were the first people i thought of that i asked if i could do this. >> deb is hoping to finish her mural today. if you stop by the lookout bar, you can bid on her work. it is down to the wire for >> cruz now have the 78900 sherpa fire 45% contained. it's near santa barbara. strong winds that usually sweep down mountains in the area did

not materialize last night. no homes have burned, but hundreds of people have been forced to get out. and in amador county a 210-acre wildfire is 85% contained. it destroyed three structures. crews expect full containment by this afternoon. and cal fire tweeted out these pictures of a nearly 240-acre wildfire burning in san bernardino county. the king fire is 80% contained. it's damaged four structures. and with the heat we are getting, we have to worry about high fire danger here. >> that's right. today in los angeles, 99 degrees. 105 in pasadena. we won't break any records here, but temperatures have jumped considerably since yesterday. even at this early hour. that's due to the dry air mass. here's live doppler 7hd. you have to widen out pretty far to get the cloud cover. overall it's a pick dome of high

pressure dominating the weather for the week ahead. here is sfo. temperatures warm. 67 san francisco. that's comfortable. 69 oakland. look at the 70s. at the coast 66 degrees. from the east bay hills camera it's a warm one in the valleys. novato 73. 74 by the delta. 71 concord, and 70 livermore. just about a thousand feet we will have a light offshore flow and that will allow temperatures to heat up quickly. at the beach a sea breeze. anywhere from 10 to 20 miles an hour will prevail. much warmer for dad today. warm to hot inland this week. warmest days look to be wednesday and thursday. so if we check out tomorrow, the first day of summer, it arrives at 3:44. notice a few more 90s from

of the drift's omar mateen's wife providing more details about the challenges of her youth. in an exclusive interview, susan, who asked us not to use her last name or show her face, said she had learning difficulties and was in all special education classes. >> not only difficulty with retention, she had difficulty with conceptualizing, understanding. she tried hard and was very sweet. >> she believes she would not be capable of helping her plot the attack. >> i thought she was incapable of being an accomplice. absolutely accomplice. i think she doesn't realize consequences of her actions. >> her family denying that she had any involvement in the shooting. over the phone they are telling us she's completely innocent and unaware of the attacks and confirming that she was a special education student who does not understands cause and effect.
