this is abc 7 news. it is saturday, june 25th, good morning, thank you so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. hi, francis. >> hi, chris. good morning, everyone. it is so mild out here i already took out my jacket already. take you out the door already. temperatures ra s range at the and san francisco, 53. oakland 64, but warm in antioch at 75 degrees. here's how the day plays out. warm conditions by this afternoon, even near 90 in antioch and already 80 in san jose, but notice that the coast temperatures stay in the 60s and

then this afternoon it will be climbing to the upper 90s inland. a very warm day ahead with things starting to cool down by 7:00 this evening for inland areas. especially if you're heading to stanford for the soccer game tonight. a hot weather seven-day forecast coming up and i'll let you know more in my next report. sheriff deputies in contra costa county looking for the suspect in another highway shooting. it happened around 9:00 last night on westbound highway 4. the driver of a pickup truck got off the highway and pulled over after hearing a pop and found a hole in the back window. a woman was hit by the broken glass and taken to the hospital as a precaution. the chp says there have been 28 shootings on highways in the east bay since november of last year. four people were killed and at least a dozen were injuredp. now to our other top story, appears the european union is ready to move on from britain. they're ready to start exit

negotiations immediately. 50% voted to leave the eu ke concerned with the immigration policies. david cameron announced yesterday he would step down and it could take months to replace him. he wants the next prime minister to negotiate the full withdrawal. yesterday president obama talked with mr. cameron about how it will affect. >> stay focused on ensuring economic growth and financial stability. >> the transition out of the eu could take until 2020. many brits traveling to the bay area on vacation were shocked by the vote. dan ashley has more. >> these brits arriving at sfo just found out the result before hopping on their long flight to california. susan baits decided to stay.

remain pretty steady hopefully, the real question is when businesses try to go to europe, what does that mean from the choice of location from the headquarters. >> reporter: dan ashley, nbc 7 news. >> while the uk is attractive for businesses now, it remains to be seen whether that will change and whether businesses will consider other countries still in the european union. 8:04 is our time. more than 30,000 acres are burning in an out of control wildfire that started thursday afternoon. the fire is being blamed for two deaths and the lost of at least 100 structures. it is only 5% contained. >> reporter: piles of ash are all that is left of these homes. the burned out frames of cars is among the only recognizable thing among the rubble. dozens of homes up in flames. >> i really underestimated how fast and how bad that fire was.

>> reporter: david's home on radiant way is a total loss. he says he received a reverse 911 call to evacuate and less than half an hour later, the fire was dangerously close. he left with only his medication. >> i jumped in my truck and everybody was running by that time. >> reporter: he is one of roughly 125 residents now staying at an evacuation center in kernville. >> i wanted to make sure my animals got out safely. >> reporter: they were forced to evacuate the community of welden. >> the house caddy corner from me was up in flames. i have the lord on my side. if he decides to take my home, i will get another one. >> reporter: in squirrel valley the fire claimed two lives. an elderly couple who had medical problems did not escape the fire. >> a deputy was going door to door and came across a burned

property and he located the two bodies. >> reporter: it has charred 30,000 acres and destroyed 80 homes. some personal belongings can't be replaced like david's vw thing he wanted to give to his granddaughter. >> that's irreplaceable because i'm not going to build another engine and they're very rare and very hard to find. >> reporter: we're in the front yard of david's home. the only things that survived the fire was a sign out in front and most everything else is charred. he already talked to his insurance agent about rebuilding his life. the names of the two people who have died in the fire have not been repoliced. i'm melissa mcbride for nbc 7 news. teams from the bay area have arrived to help with the firefighting efforts. santa clara county engines assembling before they went south. the city of san mateo also sent

crews. the iteam has learned two more sheriff deputies are on paid administrative leave. they're accused of assault in an incident that happened a year ago. the guards reportedly punched and kicked an inmate even though the sources says they told them to stop. three guards were arrested on charges of beating to death michael tyree and last months two guards were criminally charged with beating an inmate and breaking his jaw. we reached out to the sheriff's office for information on this latest case and they say they cannot comment on personnel issues. protesters rallied last night demanding justs for a man who died two years ago in police custody. >> what do we want? >> justice. >> the rally was held on behalf of james greer after being tazed during a traffic stop. an officer's body camera

captured the may 24th incident. 8:07 is our time. san francisco police are looking for two burglars who broke into a union square jewelry store and made off with what the owner says is at least $2 million in diamonds and gold chains. surveillance video obtained by abc 7 news shows one of the men breaking into grace jewelry thursday morning. the owner tells us, a call from his alarm company woke him up. then he watched in real time as the thief wiped out his cases going straight for the most expensive jewelry. >> all the items were either a lot of gold or all diamonds. so, the other items that don't have much gold just totally ignore them. >> police believe the men escaped in this ford sedan that had been parked in the nearby street garage. santa cruz police are search prognosis the thieves that took off with an atm from a mini mart. dramatic surveillance video

right now, the pink triangle in san francisco for pride week. the installation goes up every year symbolic of a pink triangle used by the nazis in world war ii but now a symbol of pride. also, as part of pride weekend the mission of the march is to bring the communities together to celebrate unity. there will be plenty of activities before the march, including live music and food. the march starts at 6:00 tonight. as mentioned, pride weekend is under way this morning in san francisco. the transgender march last night kicked off the festivities and tight security is expected at b.a.r.t. throughout the weekend. abc news reporter.

podcast of mercury sports news writer and said our nation's fonders would not have included automatic weapons in the bill of rights. his dad was shot to death in lebanon in 18984. he said we need to vote out lawmakers who are frightened of the nra. the west nile rivirus has bn detected here in the bay area. a bird has tested positive in san rafael. the dead bird was found and mosquitos that feed on an infected animal can transmit west nile to humans. symptoms include fever, headache and nauza. no human cases have been reported so far this year in california. police are warning beachgoers about a great white shark spotted in pacifica. the beach is a popular surf spot usually packed on sunny days like yesterday, however, surfers weren't too worried. >> i was debating whether or not

compared to yesterday at this time. we're quite a bit warmer in many locations. in hayward 9 degrees warmer than yesterday. oakland 7 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time. mount tam looking south, again today. going to be sunny and breezy. there's a heat alert for early next week because we could see triple digit temperatures in some inland areas. also, with the warm weather and gusty winds this afternoon, a red flag warning will be in effect until 6:00 with the low humidity and increased fire danger for areas of solano county. if you're heading to the beach, be careful. look out for those sharks, as chris mentioned. north bay and monterey bay a beach hazard in effect through tonight. strong rip currents and large breakers. highs today range, as well. breezy conditions and 66 in half moon bay and oakland 79 and then

antioch, that will hit near 100 and 98 degrees. san jose at 88 degrees. a lot of folks heading to the pride weekend in san francisco. look for breezy conditions this afternoon and sunny, as well. today and tomorrow with temperatures mainly in the low 70s. also, if you're heading to the sonoma raceway. you're definitely going to need your hat and sunglasses and sun screen and maybe a nice big drink because temperatures will be in the 90s today and tomorrow dropping down to the mid up toer 5 upper 50s overnight. giants game breezy this evening with temperatures cooling off to 72 degrees by the time the game starts and then cooling down to up thor 50s by the time the game ends and sunset is at 8:36 this evening. and here's a look at the week ahead. this is why we want to warn you of these really hot temperatures we can expect. monday and tuesday is when we can see some really or close to triple-digit heat in some inland

there's a fee for just about everything these days. but when a bay area woman saw a charge that added 43 cents to the price of her gas she did a double take. >> silvia has been gassing up at this chevron in martinez for years. never has she seen a bill like the one she saw earlier this month. >> i come once a week, i never had this issue. >> reporter: but there it was on her gas receipt. a labor charge of $6.54 for a gas purchase of $15.01.

>> it's regular unleaded gas for $299 a gallon and i'm being charged almost 50% extra to pump my own gas. >> reporter: the gas station attendant refused to remove the charge, despite being unable to explain it. instead the clerk urged silvia to file a complaint with her credit card company. >> no, that's not my job to do. i'm not paying a labor fee to pump my own gas. >> reporter: the large placard says nothing about a labor charge. neither do any other signs that we saw. silvia said the credit card terminal at the gas pump wasn't working, so she went into the store to prepay for $20 of gas. she pumped just $50 worth but the total charges came to $22.11. silvia contacted me and we took her complaint to chevron. >> our investigation showed this was a one off issue and it was a coding error in the system.

>> reporter: silvia had purchased cat food in the store and that was mislabeled on the receipt as a labor charge. she said she mistakenly believed her cat food had been rung up separately. she was also charged sales tax for that cat food. >> she was assured she was not overcharged and being charmed for the items in store. >> reporter: for her trouble she received a $20 gift card from chevron despite the gas station being independently owned. >> i was very surprised. >> reporter: we went back to the gas station and did not find anyone else who saw a labor charge on their receipt. i'm michael finney, 7 on your side. the jornl lucas museum will come to california instead of chicago. bring it back to california, but didn't say where. the delays from a lawsuit followed by a parks group forced his hand. lucas previously tried to get

accuweather seven-day forecast. breaking news out of texas where investigators are investigating a shooting that left two people dead. it happened outside a nonprofit dance studio around 2:50 this morning. the studio's owner said a group having a party on the property was not authorized to be there. when police arrived one person was found dead outside the studio and another person died at the hospital. the other victims are still being treated. no word yet on any suspects. new this morning, president obama is in seattle talking about the importance of preserving and sharing the stonewall inn as a significant part of the american story. yesterday, the president designated the stonewall inn as the first national monument to lgbt rights. patrons fought back. that launched a week's long protest and sparked the modern lgbt right's movement. the new york city monument will be added to the city's national

detectors tomorrow. the city has activated its emergency operation center to coordinate resources for pride events. today will be pink. the huge street party which co insides with the start of pride week in san francisco had been canceled after no one wanted to host it. but now it's back. it won't happen in the castro like it used to. in the south of market district will be the new location for pink saturday. inside this parking lot across the street from sf eagle bar. the event hosted by the sisters of perpetual indullgence was always held in the castro. >> we wanted to be really based in the community and run by the community that is going to be smaller and safer. >> reporter: for nearly 25 years, the sisters of perpetual indullgence have hosted one of the biggest parties. one that in recent years also became the biggest headache for residents and businesses in the castro. the hast pink saturday held in

2014 was marred by violence. the sisters, a nonprofit organization, decided it was unmanageable and while last year another organization held a pink party, this year, there were no takers until the sisters had a change of heart. >> we're taking the name back, absolutely. pink saturday is ours and will always be ours. >> reporter: most businesses in the castro hope the crowds will end up at pink saturday 1.5 miles away. >> it kind of makes sense to scale it down and take a step back. i mean, at this bar we want people to be safe, you know. >> reporter: this time a $10 entrance free. part of the money will pay for security and the rest of the proceeds will go to the victims and families of the orlando shooting. one of the owners says he doesn't want this event to disappear like halloween in the castro did several years ago. >> no need for another big party that community to disappear just because of violence.

>> reporter: pink saturday runs from 3:00 to 10:00 in the eveni evening. with huge crowds expected for the proud celebration this weekend, a lot of road closures in san francisco. the area around civic center will be closed both today and tomorrow and market street from beal to eighth will be closed tomorrow for the pride parade. muni will reroute buses away from the closure. the agency is asking people to take muni, metro or b.a.r.t. to get around the closure. we're using the bay area instagram feed to celebrate lgbt community where you live. aids walk san francisco. abc 7 proudly has been the broadcast sponsor for the organization 30-year history. this year's event is july 17th at golden gate park. you can learn more on our abc 7 news bay area instagram feed. the department of public health will be on the look out for street vendors selling food

i pay my rent on time. >> reporter: but, aapparently, that wasn't enough to satisfy his landlord. he raised his rent from $1,800 a month to a whopping $8,000 a month. no reason given. >> i have basically been hit with a rent increase of 400%. >> reporter: scott weaver is with the san francisco tenants' union. he spot a lot of huge rent increases. >> i don't know if there had been one that large. there could have been but i don't remember one. >> reporter: the rent hike went into effect in the beginning of this month. he filed an appeal with the san francisco rent board. they'll decide in early august or so. but suddenly, the landlord served an eviction notice. hutchinson now has to get out by july 21st, weeks before that decision comes. >> i could be evicted before that decision even comes through. i honestly don't know what i'm going to do. i'm struggling here. >> reporter: hutchinson's lawyer

already reaching 81 degrees. it's 81 in antioch. fairfield is 70. 58 in san francisco for the pride runners getting ready and golden gate park. it's already getting pretty warm there and at san jose at 66 degrees. half moon bay still at 55 degrees. compared to yesterday at this time, we're off to a much milder start in many areas we're much warmer even seven degrees warmer compared to yesterday in oakland and 9 degrees warmer yesterday at this time. here's a look looking south towards san francisco. it's sunny and breezy today. a heat alert for early next week because some triple-digits are expected for a few inland locations. and i'll show you that with the accuweather seven-day forecast. red flag warning in effect until 6:00 tonight. winds gusting up to 25 miles per hour. and that combined with a low humidity means increased fire danger for the areas highlighted in red, which includes parts of

solano county. also, if you're headed to the beach, be extra careful with beach hazards in effect tonight, as well. strong rip currents possible and large breakers especially along the north bay coast and the monterey bay coast, as well. and here's what you can expect for today, we're going it be warming up to 95 in gilroy. san jose hitting 88 degrees today. look for temperatures to be 85 by this afternoon in palo alto and then cooling down to 75 degrees tonight if you're headed to this game at the stanford area for the soccer game and downtown san francisco, 71. notice at the coast with the low clouds, daly city will only hit 74 degrees. breezy as well through parts of the north bay and welcome that breeze with temperatures hitting the low 90s in santa rosa and sonoma and napa. more comfortable in the east bay with berkeley at 78. and fremont 83 degrees. so, hot and sunny inland. our warmest number will be in
