live from the kgo-tv broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> a police pursuit ends in a residential neighborhood. security video shows the moment a patrol car was hit by fellow officers suv and the suv burst into flames. good evening. i'm eric thomas. the suspect being chased was caught close by at foothill boulevard. lilian kim joins us with more. >> this is the second day in a row that a police vehicle goes up in flames while pursuing a suspect. >> this oakland police suv went up in flames. it was moments after it collided with another oakland vehicle. a security camera captured the collision on video. it shows the patrol car heading west on 38th avenue pursuing a suspect

vehicle when it is broadsided by the suv. >> we have a 9-1-1 officer. >> neighbors rushed out as soon as they heard the crash. he was taken to the hospital and conscious when taken away by paramedics. they brought out hoses and fire distinguishers. they told them to stay away for their own safety. >> we were told there is a fire in the engine. before we know it the fire was bigger and bigger. >> nay are pours -- neighbors heard two explosions bringing the flames to an end. the suspect crashed and was taken into custody at 28th avenue and foothill boulevard. people live on this street. please stop the oakland police chases. this is the second straight day a suspect pursuit ended in a fiery crash. another opd suv caught fire on 580 near the high street exit after the officer crashed into a pole pursuing a carjacker. at least in this latest case,

neighbors wonder if the officers knew what they were doing. >> i don't know if that's the protocol saying i am going this way and that guy was going that way. there were four of them and two hit. >> as for the injured officer we have yet to get official word from oakland police on not only today's crash, but yesterday's as well. lilian kim, abc7 news. >> thanks, lilian. now to kern county where a wildfire is growing. p two people have died in the erskin wildfire. the fire has now burned an area nearly twice the size of redwood city. the fire is only 40% contained, but that's up from 10% earlier today. 250 homes burned to the ground including one woman's first hop. >> this is the first time it happened to me. it is like, wow. in is the house that is hard.

>> animals had to be evacuated quickly ahead of the flames. this dash camera video shows a pick up driver guiding a couple of horses out of harm's way. that's the day the erskin fire started. there were several reports of abandoned and loose animals. the county set up an animal shelter for owners to come and pick them up. a couple on their way to san francisco pride celebrations this weekend is not happy with uber. the men say a driver canceled their ride after a simple kiss. abc7 news reporter has their story tonight. >> this couple says they were told to get out of an uber car for doing this. they say they haled an uber car to head into the castro. >> we can't take you guys anymore. we can't take you. we said what are you talking about? we are not going to be able to go. i glanced over to his dashboard.

>> their friends were also in the car. the four started protesting to the driver about his behavior. >> he said how homophobic it is and told us we are going to hell as we leave the car. >> he said nothing is going to happen president. >> yes, he said nothing is going to happen. >> the driver then canceled the ride and told them to get out. this pride season uber has been promoted a lot with special hash tags on social media. the uber app has rainbow flags on the uber cars and the pair complained to uber, but haven't been told what will happen. we contacted the company and got this response. uber does not tolerate discrimination and we are looking into it. >> i never had an awful experience like last night. that was the first time i felt discriminated against. >> they said they are not going to use uber again.

abc7 news. >> thousands of people had to pass through airport-style checkpoints before entering this weekend's pride festival. many people didn't mind the extra security in the wake of the terrorist attack in orlando. police reported no major problems. last night officers made eight arrests, three for fell neas and they cited 11 people suspected of being drunk in public. more than a million people lined the parade route. this year had an emotional feel as they honored those killed in orlando. cornell bernard has some of the highlights. >> san francisco's pride was showing in a big way. massive crowds lining market street to celebrate and remember. >> i just really wanted to be a part of everyone mourning the loss and showing that we are still here. >> this group with a moving tribute showing the victims of the orlando shooting.

violent clash between protesters at the state capitol. at least 10 people, nine men and one woman, were hurt in the violence that included two stabbings outside the capitol building. a small group of demonstrators from the right wing worker party, a white supremecist group was met by a larger group of protesters. injuries were reported on both sides. >> they are not welcome. if they trip and fall, good. they need to go. >> they are filled with anger. they don't like dissent from their political views. >> no one was arrested. a hundred police officers used pepper spray to control the crowds. >> the current head of oakland's police department joined members marching in the pride parade. the acting assistant chief is the fourth person to leave the office since chief sean went resigned on june 9th. more information emerged about sexual misconduct allegations. downing will lead the

install safety features only on abc7 news at 11:00. drew is off tonight and lisa argen joins us now with a look at the accu-weather forecast. lisa? >> hi, eric. a lot going on starting now with the heat that is going to be with us through the first half of the upcoming workweek. live doppler 7hd is detecting a little fog offshore. but not much is going to regroup around pacifica and half moon bay. we widen the perspective and you can see this huge dome of high pressure over the western third of the nation. this ridge is going to stay in place for the next several days. it looks like by wednesday night it will begin to slide to the east and that's when we get changes. between now and then it is dry and hot. relative humidity by 4:00 in the afternoon 12 to 14%. right now in san francisco it is cool. 56, oakland 61 and mountain view 65. it is 67 in san jose. 72 in morgan hill and half

moon bay. nice vantage point from the sutro tower camera. could see fog lasting for a couple hours. 61 santa rosa and novato is 57. looking at the delta, 71. these areas right here, fairfield, concord, livermore, all up at 100 or 101 today. gilroy as well. so already in the thick of the warming trend and this heat spell. it really is in the east bay valleys and spreading a little closer to the bay tomorrow, but nonetheless we have a heat alert in affect for monday and tuesday, meaning we will see the temperatures at or above 100 degrees. close to that on wednesday and the coastal fog is a shallow marine layer. it is keeping it cool and you may need a jacket if you are headed there tomorrow. as for the rest of the week, cooler and we'll see clouds by the end of the week and even

monsoonal moisture and showers and thunderstorms in the sierra nevada. we are clear and mild in the inland east bay in the 60s. we'll look for patchy fog from santa cruz to half moon bay. 55 in san francisco. tomorrow morning at 8:00, you will wake up at 68 degrees on the peninsula. 70 by livermore. 81 in antioch and then by 11:00 we are looking at temperatures about 90 in father field and -- 90 in fairfield and san francisco will be approaching 70 degrees. 1:00 in the afternoon and it is still warm with numbers in the 90s. head to the beach. this is where we will see the cool conditions. 64 half moon bay. and then in the south bay, up to 90 in san jose. the peninsula numbers are almost as warm. we are 90 in redwood city and 89 in mourn -- mountain view. 76 south city and look for 92 novato and near east bay, 80 in oakland and 86 in fremont.

a new device developed in the bay area is designed to change that. >> depending on where you live, work or travel, it is no secret that the air quality around you can range from very good to very bad. now a bay area start up has come up with a system they say will allow you to spot the danger and filter it away. >> it is the smallest particulate air particle detector in the world. >> it is a tiny air pollution tracker that alerts users to heavy concentrations and even sending warnings in the cell phone app. >> it is the air quality from the tracker and used for people who want clean air because of allergens and germs when they travel or industrial pollution. >> the tracker communicates directly with a portable air filtration device about the size of a water bottle. although it is small, engineers say a specialized filter can eliminate large and

was a big surprise. the 45-year-old veteran had not won in three years. he missed the season's first eight races because of back surgery. but his dramatic last lap at sonoma may have changed his entire season. stewart was passed by hamlin on the seventh turn. on the 11th and final turn he went wide and stewart got underneath. just to make sure, stewart knocked him into the wall. he apologized afterwards. hamlin said don't worry about it. stewart might race for the title in his final season. >> this could be what makes or breaks us. you have seen the last two years what kind of drama is in the chase. you can imagine what a guy like me is his last chance and what kind of chances i would take. i am glad it is an area where he didn't take him out of the race and he could finish second. when he got to the window i told him, i am proud of you. i honestly thought i had
