i'm larry beil. >> and i'm ama daetz. and the heat is on. the temperatures hitting triple-digits and prompting another clear the air day for tomorrow. >> and in east bay hills, where the temperatures were the highest. and our mt. tam, it looks like over 100. 102 in the east bay. we have team coverage starting with ouroñ m spencer christian our update. >> it has been hot. triple-digits around the area. sunny skies and a little hit of developing coastal fog and high temperatures so far. 102 at cloverdale and livermore, 101 at fairfield and concord. although there are several different readings from antioch, the one we rely on says 109. around the bay, a high of 88 the fremont, but look at the coast,

wind-driven fire burned through several of our communities, destroying currently we have documented 200 single-family dwellings. >> the fire has burned more than 70 square miles and just 40% contained. tonight, city leaders in daly city will decide whether to close a fire station in order to save money. closing station 95 at edge mont drive near lincoln would save a million dollars a year. the firefighters union is fighting the closure and they say response time could be delayed by several minutes with fewer engines having to cover the same area. if approved, the fire station would close on july 1st. a tanker carrying gas caught fire at vallejo at 2:30 this morning. the smoldering semi was on the side of the road and didn't impact traffic. investigators say while the tanker was damaged, no gas leaked from it. it is still unclear what caused the fire that started near the

truck's rear wheels. now to the north beach tenant with a 400% rent hike we told but on friday. neal hutchinson. >> he is being evicted because he can't afford to pay the $8,000 rent and today he and his attorney are fighting it and so is one of the city's supervisors. abc 7 news reporter vic lee is in the newsroom with a follow-up. >> reporter: since we aired the report on friday, the story has gone absolutely viral. a lot of outrage, disbelief. now the laws surrounding rent control in san francisco are complicated and there is state law that may apply. but one thern -- one thing is c, the tenant is determined to stay. we told but this apartment building on friday on thefr of columbus and scotland. it has movie cred. the dead pool was shot here. and in apartment 25 where this tenant lives, has a killer view.

and he also has a killer rent hike. >> i basically have been hit with a rent increase of 400%. i don't know where i'm going to go if i have to leave. >> reporter: his landlord raised the rent june 1st from $1,800 to a whopping $8,000 a month. he is also demanding a security deposit of $16,000. hutchinson has appealed to the san francisco rent board. but suddenly the landlord served an eviction notice, a catch-22. suchinson now has to be out by july 21st, weeks before the rent board decides on the rent hike. supervisor sharon heskin said he is on this case. >> we are trying to work with the rent board to get that decision out more quickly. >> reporter: the rent hike letter states that $8,000 is the current fair market rental value. huskin, whose district includes north beach, calls it preposterous. >> there is nothing of that type that rents for $8,000 a month in north beach.

cell phone video of what happened along marina boulevard. he hit a zip car with a large bicycle walk in august of last year. i[$e returns to court to be sentenced next month. members of a neo-nazi group vow to return to rally at the state capitol following violent clashes like this one at an event there yesterday. a white supremacist group called traditionalist worker party had a permit for the rally. fight broke out with counter protesters leaving ten people injured and many of them suffering stab wounds. it is unclear how the violence started. so far police have not made arrests. a big clean-up under way following pride festivities. we are at delores park where you could see the mountains of trash left behind from over the weekend. the recreation and parks department said it took 13 workers a total of 86 hours to clean up the park. there is no word on just how much that clean-up will cost taxpayers. right now, crews trying to save a blue whale trapped in

and a cooler pattern in all areas by week's end. low temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. away from the coast. on the coast we'll see a little bit of fog there, with lows in the low 50s. tomorrow's highs, look for 102 at cloverdale, 101 at fairfield and 101 at livermore and 103 at antioch and 96 at morgan hill and we'll see numerous mid-80s around the bay, but only about 60 to 62 or so on the coast tomorrow. so once again, it will be relatively cool on the coast and very warm inland. by friday, we'll be looking at warm conditions still in our inland areas but cool at the coast. highs by friday inland around 90 to 92 degrees in most inland locations. it will cool down a bit inland on saturday with highs reaching only into the low to mid-80s. but temperatures begin to rise inland again on sunday. a warmer afternoon on sunday with highs in the upper 80s. it looks like we'll be approaching 90 again inland on sunday and perhaps into monday

an iconic bar in new york city is part of the national monument to gay rights. politicians and members of the lgbt community attended a dedication ceremony today of the stonewall inn. it is symbolic in the struggle for gay rights since 1969 when riots erupted as gay patrons of the bar fought back against a

the fourth of july is one week away and today public safety officials in the south bay asked everyone celebrating to be safe. abc 7 news was at the lake county pa park in los gatos where fire officials talked about the consequences of using illegal fireworks. despite warnings, 10,000 people nationwide are injured each year by fireworks on the fourth of july. and because of the warm weather, the illegal fireworks are

thousand guns that belonged to law enforcement in california disappeared. with many still unaccounted for. >> a thousand. that is the alarming finding of an investigation by the mercury news. abc 7 news reporter matt keller has the story. >> reporter: on july 1st, 2015, kate was shot and killed on pier 14 in san francisco. police say the gun used was stolen from a federal agent's car. in oakland, artist ramos was killed by a man by a gun stolen from an i.c.e. car in san francisco. this shows the worst case for a law enforcement weapon but having their gun stolen is not isolated a. cording to an in depth report to the mercury news. since 2010, 944 guns have disappeared from the bay area and state and federal agents across california with 717 still unaccounted for. 192 were confirmed stolen. oakland police has lost track of

378 weapons since 2011. san jose police department is missing 327 guns. the mercury news said they fail to track whether they took them when they they retired. and some guns were missing and all stolen out of a vehicle. >> we are developing policy for private vehicles and our unmarked vehicles, we are installing safes and in our marked vehicles, the guns are locked and secured. >> san francisco police and the alameda county sheriff have the highest number of stolen guns since 2010 with 10 each. those departments prohibts officers from keeping guns in vehicles overnight. the sheri#9 deputies about securing weapons while in the academy. >> we make sure the deputies are aware not to keep guns in vehicles and take them inside and lock them in saves. >> reporter: state senator jerry

san francisco'ãc iconic coit tower they might see change. despite changes, a refreshment stand could be on the way. carolyn tyler joins us with the story. >> reporter: well, ama, there used to be a concession cart here for many years but after the tower underwent a major makeover a couple of years ago, that was eliminated. well now a new and improvedjvy version could be coming later this summer. half a million people visit coit tower each year. they could look at the recently-restored depression era murals and take an elevator ride for a million-dollar view but they can't buy water or snacks. that may end a small kiosk selling refreshments is on the drawing board. erin peskin, the district supervisor, supports it. 4 as long as it is removabl we'll give it a shot and help
