>> 36 people and three suicide bombers died in a terror attack in the istanbul airport. >> all indications point to isis. >> good evening. i'm larry beil. >> i'm ama daetz. >> three terrorists arrived at the airport and opened fire on security. adrian has the latest developments. >> reporter: good evening, larry and ama. we are told the british prime minister said there was no security lapse and that the foreign nationals and police were among the wounded. it is the fifth major attack in turkey's largest city in the past month. gunfire and explosions are rocking the istanbul airport's international terminal. in what appears to be the airport surveillance video that landed on-line a fireball flashes on the screen as one of the attackers detonates

himself in the building. they say another suicide bomber ran outside. >> the injured are being rushed to the area hospitals in ambulances and vans and taxis. >> i saw people falling when i was coming down the steps. there was blood and it shook every single thing. >> the violence erupted at 10:00 p.m. it was a busy team for one of the most popular travel hubs. officials say the attackers arrived by taxi and then opened fire with assault rifles. it detonated suicide belts. >> people were shooting and we all ran the other way and then the bombs went off. people started running the other way and there was more shooting. >> inside the airport confusion. people looking for cover. some holding children and others on their phones. back in march terrorists linked to isis launched deadly assaults at the brussels

airport and a metro station and dozens died. abc news has learned the three attackers were detected by police at security just before entering the main part of the terminal which means it likely saved many more lives. in new york, adrian bankard, abc news. larry and ama, back to you. surveillance cameras captured one of the suicide bombers running through the hallway. he fell to the ground and after several moments people around him started to run away and then suddenly the bomb explodes. at one point flights between the u.s. and istanbul were put on hold and it was -- it had waiting passengers on edge. sergio is live for us. >> and there were passengers who arrived here this afternoon with the sense of relief that they got from istanbul safely. for those who were already on a plane and headed there, it was a little bit of a

different story. >> turkish airlines flight 80 took off headed to istanbul. >> i didn't know until i left him five minutes ago. >> he said his friend is flying through istanbul and to egypt. they learned about the triple bombings when they got to sfo this afternoon. some passengers changed travel plans. >> i wanted to reroute my flights and i went to the turkish air. >> those arriving were still in the air when they learned about the bombings. >> we were discussing about our country. >> i was in disbelief because we were just there a few hours ago. i was like if we missed our flight we would have been there. >> people were learning the news and pictures of his family hours before it was hit

already clear its deputies. dan noyes has the story. >> four alameda county sheriff deputies admit having sex with the 18-year-old, but the department has concluded they did nothing illegal or unethical and they made the decision without interviewing the young woman. 18-year-old celeste called me from internal affairs at the contra costa sheriff's office this afternoon. they are questioning her about a deputy celeste says had sex with her when she was underage. there are three other cases of possible statutory rape at the oakland pd. it has spread to four bay area counties. >> how many law enforcement officers or higher ups did you sleep with do you think? >> in oakland? >> in general all of them. >> about 30. >> celeste tells me she met the majority of the officers after she turned 18 last august. six departments are investigating if their officerses broke laws or

policies. >> i didn't want this to happen. >> you didn't want it to happen? meaning the controversy, people losing their jobs you mean? >> the alameda county sheriff's department has cleared its deputies even though they did not speak with celeste. >> there was one time we did it in the car and he had his k9 watching us from the backseat. >> four alameda county deputies including a k9 handler admit having sex with celeste, but say it was consensual and she was 18 and they didn't pay. they told the eye team it was a personal and private matter for their officers and their conduct was not illegal or unethical. >> i don't know what they are looking to to reach that conclusion. it would violate the standards of conduct we expect of our police officers. >> i got perspective from abc7 legal analysts. >> should we count on them to investigate themselves.

santa rosa, becomely, san jose -- berkeley and all of the buy area, this is abc7 news. >> two bay area families are trying to cope with devastating losses tonight. >> two moms and four children died in a fiery wreck near l.a. abc7 news reporter katie is with the latest jievment they are from san francisco and daly city. the chp believes thisy were vacationing in southern california. the dads escaped the wreck, but couldn't save their wives and children. we learned the children were ages 2, 3, 4 and 5. >> the van went up in flames quickly. >> they were the first authorities on the scene. it was 3:30 in the morning on interstate 5. the mini-van carrying the families and a bmw were in a minor crash and the mini-van was sticking out in the right

lane. the men were outside of the van looking at the damage when a semitruck rear-ended it. the van burst into flames with the women and children inside. >> it was very horrific trying to see them get the families out and us trying to get the families out. >> the fire was too intense and ultimately the officers had to hold back the men each a father of two. >> they have burns on their arms and on their faces trying to get their families out. abc7 news. in developing news cal fire reports a drone is impacting aerial efforts to impact a wildfire. they have forced evacuations. the fire started around 3:30 and threatened 400 homes. cal fire posted these pictures earlier tonight. the fire has charred 300 acres. a fire shutdown the old

faithful guyser attraction in cal lis stow gaw. the fire burned a storage building and then started a grassfire and burnt eight acres. several power poles burned. so far no word on the cause. residents in the south bay may notice a dirt-like smell coming from their tap water. not to worry, the santa clara valley water district says the odor is not a concern. it is a compound produced by algae found in the sacramento and san juaquin delta. that's where the district gets more than half of the water for the county. >> so our water is still safe. it is still healthy and if they do detect odor and taste they can chill their water and it will help mitigate it. >> the water district doesn't know how long the stink will last. >> it will be up to the voters to decide whether recreational marijuana is legal in california. the measure will be on the november 8th ballot. it would allow people 21 and older to possess, transport

and use up to an ounce of marijuana for recreational use. people could grow as many as six plants for personal use. four other states already allow recreational use of marijuana. >> you're gonna have to be very patient if you are driving to the east bay tonight coming out of san francisco. especially because the giants and a's game ended only a few minutes ago. construction on the bay bridge is causing nightly massive back ups as you can see on the sky way. the first three on-ramps are closed until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. coco crisp the a's outfielder tweeted this last night. the game's been over an hour and a half and still haven't made it on to the 80. might not make it home until 2:00 a.m. it will be a long -- i don't know if i can even attempt to try the bay bridge tonight. i may stay at hotel patel.

i heard the breakfast at hotel patel is outstanding, sandhya. >> oh yeah, nice try. i'll serve up toast and cereal. take a look at the skycam. i want to show you the natural ac that was coming in this afternoon as you look toward the sutro tower. the coast and the bay started to cool down. but it didn't reach all areas. inland spots were on the hotspot. it will be making its way locally inland by morning. so the coastal spots were in the 60s because of the fog. we did have the triple digits inland today. around the bay we are pleasant. we are expecting the triple digits to be long gone. we will only be in the 90s. here is a look at the numbers. a nice sea breeze cooling you down. 50s and 60s for most areas. antioch is on the warm side at 79 degrees. from the east bay hills camera, a shaky camera

and nice breeze. gradual cooling into the weekend and we are looking at near average highs for the fourth of july. here is what will happen overnight. the fog will fill in not just near the coast, but it will push in toward the east bay. tomorrow morning's commute will include gray skies and low visibility in spots due to dense patches. just allow the extra time for the commute. by noontime the fog is sitting right near the coast, but it has pld out of the bayside communities. it will be on the warm to hot side. tomorrow morning the temperatures are beginning in the 50s for most of you except for cloverdale and antioch in the 60s. and then in the afternoon here is how it is going to look. in the south bay, 93 and gilroy, 83 san jose. still warm, but not as hot as it has been 6789. 81 in sunnyvale. peninsula is upper 70s for redwood city, palo alto. 74 san mateo and pacifica and half moon bay low 60s with fog around. daly city 60 degrees.

you will have a nice sea breeze coming through. north bay is out of the 90s in santa rosa tomorrow. 80 in vallejo. 60s along the coastline in the east bay. 70 berkeley and 72 oakland. 79 castro valley. inland areas, still the hot summer weather we expect, but notice there are no 100's on the bored. 94 livermore and 97 antioch. 91 in concord and 90 in walnut creek. the bay bridge series continues at the oakland coliseum. if you're going as they host the giants it is 63 degrees. it is going to be sunny by 10:00. it is dropping to 57 as the sun goes down. it will get a little breezy so you might want to pack a sweatshirt. looking at the seven-day forecast, we will feature low 60s and the temperatures are slightly higher thursday inland, but notice they come back down again and for the weekend it is going to get cooler. low 90s on saturday and upper 80s on sunday.
