investigators say the man lives clesly. firefighters tried to save the driver of the car, already engulfed in flames. according to neighbors he was seen driving very fast. a witness says the man stopped when slamming into this house on 32 avenue and el camino del mar. >> high rate of speed and i heard impact down the road. >> he was driving very fast? >> yes. excess of 50 miles per hour. >> the driver described as an older man. investigators aren't sure why he was speeding. the area was closed and treated as a crime scene, the body, still inside. >> we have confirmation there was a driver, an elderly male. i don't have further information other than that. >> the house caught on fire and

being called down at jones and mcallister streets. officers negotiated with a man who is said to be suicidal and told police he didn't want to go to prison. in 30 minutes, police chief explained why it lasted so long. >> for human life, we would have stayed out here and were going to give him as much time as he needed and we needed to make sure we did not have to resort to lethal force unless we absolutely had to. >> the chief says no shots were fired during the incident but flash bangs were used to get the man to surrender. he's been taken to sf general for injuries from those projectiles. it looks like a quiet neighborhood, but this is is being called one of the biggest san jose marijuana busts in recent history. truck loads of pot plants are now confiscated.
