down while chasing a speeding driver. the driver was caught yesterday. investigators are trying to figure out why the officer fell. we were over the big backup on i-80 as all eastbound lanes were closed for three hours. no other cars were involved. >> this affects so men of us, changes are in the works for the bay bridge to speed up the drive across the span. the bay area toll authority has hired a company to lead the effort to upgrade the bridge's metering light system. the system is old and dates back to 1974. the upgrade including a real time algorithm designed to reduce traffic to be completed by june. >> do you have road rage? you are not alone. a survey found 80% of drivers admit to angry and aggressive behavior the last year. the report said the most aggressive driver is young man 19-39 and everyone three times more likely than women to get out of the car and confront

little bit of fog right along the coast but a look from the our east bay hills camera it is gorgeous and sunny and mild and a heat alert inland today and tomorrow and we will see cooler days at end of the weekend. we are mild, at 55 in san francisco, a lost 60s around the bay and our warmest spot inland are holding in the mid-to-upper 60s and highs in our microclimate in the south bay upper 80's to lower 90s, 91 in san jose, along the peninsula, 84 in redwood city and 75, though, from millbrae. downtown san francisco, it will be warm, 71, and 62 in daly city and the north bay is 91 in novato and 92 in napa and oakland is up to 80, so, warm, 88 in castro valley and 87 is the high in fremont and inland, it will be hot, so we have the heat alert, 98 in concord and 100 in antioch and 102 brentwood. the heat alert today, a "spare the air" day is in affect, use mass transportation, otherwise, we will cool off as we head into the weekend.

on sierra road in a bit of a rural area, no houses are threatened, however. it is under control but they are making sure it does not spread further. >> new video from southern california shows a carjacking suspect leading deputy on a case through south los angeles, can the pickup throwing off sparks. a woman is behind the wheel. the los angeles county said she carjacked someone at gunpoint and deputies tried to stop her by placing a spike strip in the road but she drove right over it. she finally pulled over at a casino, got out of the truck and was arrested. >> mexico authorities are investigating how this ended up in the pacific ocean. 32 colorfully wrapped packages of what authorities are pretty sure is cocaine was pick up in the waters off the coast, with 2,000 pounds, a ton, spotted by the mexican navy. >> utah lawmakers are taking
