after a gas leak. sky 7 was over the station. a utility crew accidentally struck a line this afternoon. it remains closed from foss avenue to muir court. those nearby have been evacuated and others told to stay in their homes. no one was hurt. ardent fans of the pokemon go craze were searching the streets for monster this week. what they found wasn't pokemon but a bloody man lying on the street begging for help. vic has their story. >> reporter: it is still a mystery who this man is the one rescued by two good samaritans in sausalito or what caused his injuries. police and fire aren't much help to tell us because they're bound by medical privacy laws. i can tell you this. that man was awfully lucky to

have some poke angels hanging around that night. >> i'm getting close. >> reporter: corey mcdonnecdani mike roy were doing exactly this in sausalito, glued to their phones playing pokemon go, the game that's gone viral for pokemon critters that pop up on the screen blending the digital and real world together. it was about 9:45 tuesday night. they were walking along the d k docks on gate five road and colomo street. >> we hadn't caught them in that general direction. >> reporter: instead of digital creatures they found a man bloody and lifeless, more fri t frightening. >> his face was down. >> i honestly thought i was looking at a dead body. the whole left side of his face was covered in blood and his hair and it was everywhere. >> reporter: the two rushed over

to his side and called 911. mcdaniel said the dispatcher told them to try to talk to the man. >> i remembered him murmuring he wanted to go home. >> reporter: the two stayed with him until the police and medic arrived. the two explained why pokemon is so popular. >> it's based on a show and g e games we grew up playing. >> reporter: for them, the poke god obviously had another plan that night, one that saved a man's life. 14 people are suing the city of san jose because they say the police did not properly protect them outside a donald trump rally. the lawsuit claims san jose officers did nothing as trump supporters were punched and spit on and beaten with rocks by anti-trump protesters outside the state's convention center. the attorney, a state republican party leader filed the suit.

they held them back denying rights to free speech and one of her clients suffered a broken nose. >> i could have filed this lawsuit four weeks ago, i waited and waited and urged every one of those clients to contact the police and cooperate with the police. if they were satisfied with what the police had done to let it go. they didn't do anything to satisfy those clients. >> just minutes ago the response that he directed them to stand down was ludicrous and false and they made arrests at the rally and have warrants for more. donald trump has delayed announcing his running mate because of france. he chose indiana governor, mike pence and he voted against

president obama has just weighed in on that deadly attack in nice, france. in a statement, he condemned what appears to be a horrific terrorist attack. he offered his thoughts and prayers to the families and other loved ones of those killed. he said the united states stands in solidarity in partnership with france, our oldest ally as they respond to and from this attack. >> nice officials just confirmed 75 people have died, 15 people in critical condition right now and 50 others are injured. the driver of the truck that plowed through a bastille day celebration fired on the crowd before he was killed by police. the u.s. con sell latticewo latticeworking -- consulate is working with authorities to see if any u.s. citizens were injured in the attack. the city of oakland in conjunction with president obama's my brother's keeper alliance are trying to break a vicious circle of violence among

crash would not have occurred if it was on. and they responded for the "consumer reports" call to diackty vate it. >> this gets interesting. today's announcement comes after the national highway national safety administration launched investigations into a deadly crash back in may. the man died while in his tesla model s with the out to pilot on. tesla's aggressive rollout of self-driving technology and series of high profile crashes brought the automaker under intense scrutiny and "consumer reports" calling for it to disable its self-driving feature until it can be safer. it can automatically steer, change lanes for drivers and steer. they say the marketing gives drivers a false sense of security the car can drive on its own without the driver's full attention, even letting them take their hands off the

wheel. an overreliance on this technology has significant consequences for drivers. >> we feel tesla should disable automatic steering from vehicles until it can verify the hands are on the wheels. >> tesla said 130 million miles have been driven on out to pilot with one confirmed fatality. and they called for them to safely test all critical systems before sending them to the public and issue clear guidelines how the systems should be used. in an e-mail to abc7 news a tesla spokesperson said while we appreciate well-meaning advice from any individual or group we make our decisions on the basis of real world data, not speculation by media. "consumer reports" says calling the system out to pilot promotes a dangerous assumption teslas can drive themselves. tesla has no plans to change it and says the driver is still

in swroanta rosa, 73 in napa. the marine layer will get pushed from the coast to the bay, which is good news but we have to wait one more day before inland areas get relief. spare the air again tomorrow. one more day of inland heat and it will get much cooler this weekend. you can see some fog rolling in. air quality will be poor in the inland east bay tomorrow and moderate for the bay area and you're encouraged to use mass transit if you can. if you take b.a.r.t. or ferry, you will notice spots along the bay and coast tomorrow morning and will start out in the 50s and a few 60s in antioch. don't be surprised if you run into drizzly spots. 7:00 tonight, fog will advance over the east bay and by 5:00 p.m. we head to the afternoon a few high clouds will filter the sun around the bay area,

all the bay area, this is abc7 news. investigators are offering a 10,0$10,000 reward for informat in an emoryville apartment fire. it damaged and apartment complex under construction and nearby buildings last week. federal and local agencies spent days going through the evidence. there are reports of illegal fireworks going off in the area before the fire but no official cause has been determined. no one was injured. san jose firefighters responded in full force this morning this grass fire that threatened allen rock park.
