oakland city council member will see a big surprise meeting ending at 1:20 this morning in order to pass the rent control measures. they heard from dozen of people, the proposal would require landlords to get permission from landlords to get permission from the rent board of the measure. >> time for all of us to come together the oakland tenants from landlords and developer loss do not have their best interests at home. it is not perfect solution but a step in the right direction. housing is a human right and that right is in danger in oakland. >> the proposal does not apply to owner occupied units. it will now go to the november ballot for a city-wide vote.

the oakland city council heard from nearly 100 residents about a proposal to credit a citizen police commission that would have the power to fire the police chief. this is in response to the scandals involving the police department including several officers being placed on leave for involvement with a young prostitute. the commission would have the power to investigate and discipline officers. the city council is expected to vote next week. in approved the vote goes on the november ballot. >> two sufferedded serious injuries after crashing a car theyally was stolen in san francisco. last night the owner of a silver saw two people breaking into the car calling police who responded. the alleged thieves made it five blocks before crashing and overturning at 43rd. >> it is called the most unorthodox, unimaginable and unbelievable presidential campaign in recent history. now donald trump is officially the republican nominee. after day one speech plague e controversy, day 2012 the republican national convention ended with his official
