live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> her smile, her smile is infectious. she loved that school bus and she traveled it like a champ. >> friends and loved ones remember a bus driver who died in a shooting in austin, texas. good evening. i'm eric thomas. she was murdered a short distance away from the texas state capital. abc7 news reporter lonnie rivera is live outside the redwood city busyard where she picked up and dropped off her bus every day. many who knew her gathered there . >> she is being remembered as a stellar employee and a very, very good human being. >> she loved that school bus. she drove it like a champ. >> co-workers and friends came to this school busyard in

redwood city tonight. they placed flowers on bus number 1402 and they turned on the lights to remember the remarkable woman who loved being behind this wheel. >> tame k ka was very caring. she loved special ed kids. >> she spent much of her adult life as a bus driver. she absolutely loved her job. this weekend, she traveled to austin, texas to visit her fiancee's family. while hanging out in a popular, crowded entertainment district she was shot and killed. austin police tonight released a picture of a person of interest. they want to question a connection with a deadly shooting that killed multry and injured five others. >> close friend and fellow bus driver talked to her fiancee. >> she was distraught and she cooperate say much of anything except for friends.

>> and a massive wildfire near big is you grew again to cover 62 square miles. it was the size of the city of san francisco. the fire has been burning in monterey county for 10 nights now. today the money monterey county sheriff's office evacuated a new neighborhood and put another on warning. the fire is now 18% contained and that's up from 15% earlier today. two men find themselves in trouble with the law tonight after being accused of climbing a cable on the new eastern span of the bay bridge. highway patrol officers ordered them to climb down to the bike path at around 3:00 this afternoon. the chp will likely ask the prosecutors to charming the pair with trespassing. i saw it as i came into work. in south san jose, part of a tree slammed into the two homes forcing those families out for the night. abc7 news was on fullerton drive where the large oak tree branches came down. the man who lives there ran

out of his bedroom as soon as he heard it falling. it crashed through his bedroom window just missing him and it took out a wall and part of the frame of his home. >> it sounded like a 747 taking off landing in your backyard. it was one noise you will never forget and one noise i will never want to hear again. >> no one was hurt. the tree was more than 200 years old and considered a heritage tree. engineers are inspecting the house to make sure it is safe for those two families to return. in berkeley, the east bay mud crews expected to finish repairs on a broken watermain by early morning. the iron pipe bursted around 12:30 sending water gushing into the street and a 200-pound manhole into the air. abc7 news was at cornell and gilman as they worked to fix it tonight. about 50 customers were without water for all or part of the day. 30 are still without service tonight. >> i can't under score enough how important it is to have emergency water supplies at

hours. gloria riveara has the story from the hard hit town. >> reporter: deadly flash floods ripping through the town and the rushing water sweeping the driver into danger. one man tries to help her. then a human chain forms as the woman crawls out of her car finally pulled to safety. >> there is people in the water. >> some were clinging to vehicles swept away by the floods. >> one city turned into a massive river swallowing up cars and crashing them into one another. the aftermath cars are stacked on top of each other. this suv flipped nose first into a canal. >> what made this dangerous is so much of the city is built on top of the river. a lot is simply washed away.

>> buildings, roads and power lines suffered damage. >> we have roads into the foundation. they were completely washed away. >> the community members are desperate to get into their businesses to assess the extent of the damage. officials say it is not safe enough to go in. >> this seemed like the cars flipped and smashed into each other. search and rescue are on the job 24 hours a day. they say they will stay on the job and they have never seen anything like this. abc news, maryland. >> drew joins us now. and this is really rare. it is something they will not see again in their lifetime. let's take a look at the rainfall and they picked up six and a half inches of rain. that in and of itself is impressive. it is truly jaw dropping. the majority of the rain came in a two-hour window. that's something that only happens once in a millenium.

8. let's get you out the door. first thing is a lot of clouds and coastal drizzle. by 9:00, very typical pattern setting up. you start to see the sunshine breaking out in the temperatures. we will go hour by hour. it gets you closer to street level. san jose, fremont, east palo alto and low clouds and san francisco into the north bay and even into the inland communities. you will have some gray skies. it pulled back as it usually does this time of year. and away from the coast we have a lot of sunshine with those hazy skies. i just want to pot that out. if you have respiratory issues that is smoke that will be in the atmosphere. 84 in san jose and 80 sunnyvale. along the peninsula, afternoon sunshine and a nice day. 77 in redwood city. 60 for pacifica. down down san francisco is 64

live from the kgo-tv broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> good evening. i'm eric thomas. in tonight's headlines, police in austin, texas have warrants out for a man accused of shooting and killing a woman from the bay area. she was visiting her fiancee's family in texas when she was shot early this morning in the city's entertainment district. the 30-year-old was a school bus driver on the peninsula and she lived in san carlos. tonight donald trump is snot backing down after the -- is not backing down after the gold star -- fallen god star
