to china for years. the naturalized citizen has top security clearance and is facing a plea deal of about two years in prison. and a large construction crane was being blown around today by strong typhoon winds in hong kong. the storm packed heavy rain and maximum gusts over 80 miles per hour. it's weakening as it moves inland. no reports of deaths or destruction. those are some of the top stories on this tuesday, august 2nd. >> from abc news, this is "world news now." >> we begin this half hour with the growing fears about the zika virus. more than 14 people have now been infected in the wynwood section of miami. that's prompted the first ever domestic travel warning from the government. pregnant women and couples planning to have children soon should stay away. >> aerial spraying against the

mosquitoes that carry zika is not effective. they have to be sprayed by workers on the ground. miami is adding 20 more workers today. let's get more on the outbreak. >> reporter: zika is in the sunshine state. and the latest outbreak is worryingly different because these patients contracted it from local mosquitos. >> one square-mile radius where there's on occurrence of local transmission of zika virus. >> reporter: in addition to the four cases, there are now ten new cases of local transmission, those concentrated in miami. for the first time, people in the u.s. have contracted zika right at home, not by traveling to some distant lands but in the continental united states. governor rick scott is vowing to move all resources to stem the spread. >> we've asked the cdc to send an emergency response team. >> reporter: meanwhile, health responders are going door to

door spraying pesticides and testing floridians. >> i have the test. my test is good. my daughter's test is good. but my father, he have the zika virus. >> reporter: the cdc issuing a travel warning to all pregnant women, telling them to avoid travel to the hot zone. >> no time in recent history has cdc told people within the united states not to go to the other parts of the united states for health reasons. that's historic. >> reporter: the governor offering up the top four suggestions for eliminating zika. >> no standing water. no standing water. and then no standing water and then no standing water. >> reporter: health authorities have been actively testing all the mosquitoes within that one-mile radius. so far none have come back with a case of the zika virus. >> thank you. the u.s. carried out a military strike against an isis stronghold in libya. the air strike hit isis vehicles in a coastal city. president obama approved the

military action at the request of the u.n.-backed libyan government. more strikes are expected, but no u.s. dproops are involved. an ohio man could face 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to an isis inspired plot to attack the u.s. capitol during the state of the union address. christopher cornell pled guilty to three federal charges yesterday. prosecutors say he did research online on how to build bombs. he also purchased two semiautomatic weapons and 600 rounds of ammunition. donald trump is lashing out at hillary clinton as she enjoys a post convention bounce in the polls leading him 52 to 43. trump recently alluded to clinton being the devil. at a rally in pennsylvania last night he said it point-blank while slamming bernie sanders for negotiating with the clinton camp. >> he would have been a hero, but he made a deal with the devil. she's the devil.

>> reporter: not long after taking home the title on saturday, karlie hay coming under fire after a series of racist tweets from her social media account came back to haunt her. the tweets dating back to 2013 show hay using the "n" word repeatedly while brighting to friends on twitter. the former miss texas teen taking to social media admitting she's used the language publicly in the past. and it's something she's not proud of, and there's no excuse for. citing personal struggles as the cause. the tweets causing an online firestor many expressing their outrage. former miss teen usa cammy crawford called out hay, questioning why she left the tweets up knowing she was competing for the crown. crawford tweeting, if you win any pageant, first things first, clean up your page. if you're under 21, you

and we have more from miami. >> reporter: workers are spraying in the heart of ground zero where that zika outbreak is growing. >> on top of the four cases on friday, we have ten more cases. >> reporter: leading to the unprecedented travel advisory. the cdc recommending pregnant women avoid this popular area of miami, wynwood. impossible for mercedes cabrera who lives a block from the trouble zone. she knows zika can cause severe birth defect. >> scary. really scary. >> reporter: the cdc telling women who visited the area not to get pregnant for eight weeks. health officials seen going door to door testing hundreds of residents and handing out pamphlets. this man learned he has zika virus. six of the cases here are people without symptoms like most who get the virus. and now new concerns mosquitos in the area could be resistant to pesticides. >> mosquito control efforts

sent quickly. overseas where the u.s. has become more deeply involved in the battle against isis in libya. american forces launched two air strikes on the coastal city targeting isis tanks and vehicles. the military action comes amid growing fears europe that the isis stronghold in north africa could inspire more attacks. more u.s. air strikes are expected in the coming weeks. a long-time fbi employee admits to acting as an agent for china and sending its sensitive information about the u.s. the 46-year-old worked as an electronics technician at the fbi's new york office. the naturalized u.s. citizen had top-secret security clearance. under a plea deal, he's likely to get a prison sentence of about two years. in the race for the white house, hillary clinton is enjoying a healthy bounce in support following last week's convention in philadelphia.
