deadly stabbing spree in the heart of england prompts new fears of terrorism. tonight the attacker is under arrest as authorities zero in on a motive. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. this happened around 10:30 local time in london. >> cornell bernard is monitoring developments and is here with more. cornell? >> it is an area packed with hotels and tourists and the suspect's mental health is being looked at, but terrorism remains a possible motive. the brutal mass stabbing attack happened in central london. one woman in her 60s was killed when police say a 19-year-old mangan attack -- man began attacking people near the museum. phil black was there. >> it happened after 10:00 in the evening in london on a thursday night and in a station that is -- in an area that is in east central london. it is busy. it is a social night in london. you can expect people to be in this area. they are not huge crowds.

the north bay have arrested a drug and alcohol councilor accused of drugging and sexually assaulting a teenage girl. investigators say the 38 -year-old met the girl through a social media app. katie is live at the police department with the latest on this investigation. katie? >> dan, they say it started on a social media app and that the two communicated on-line for a couple days and then agreed to meet at his petaluma apartment. they went to police with allegations of sexual assault. >> it is troubling. it really is. >> this woman didn't want to be identified. she has daughters and lives down the street from brett's petaluma apartment. >> i was frightened. i called my mom and said make sure you are home with my girls. >> the 38-year-old faces charges of drugging and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl he met through a social media app. police arrested him tuesday after searching his apartment. >> not only found evidence,

but also admissions to the crime. >> he works at muir wood adolescent and family services as the lead recovery counselor. he has extensive experience helping adolescents and he worked with foster children. the facility's executive director said he has been suspended pending the investigation. in a statement thisy say "all of our employees are thoroughly vetted and undergo a pre employment screening process that includes fingerprinting called live scan. police are taking this opportunity to remind families about on-line safety. >> i encourage the parents of minors to know what their children are doing on-line and they are not accessing applications that will make them the victims of predators. >> in petaluma, abc7 news. a northern california man is making a heart felt plea after someone vandalized his infant son's grave. john o'donnell noticed two statues were missing from the grave in lake county.

o'donnell provided abc7 news with foe owes of these statues, a praying angel and a lion. he is willing to help the thief as long as he gets the statues back. >> bring them back. let's just talk. let's go out here and you can help me water my son's tree and we can talk about it. whatever you are going through. >> o'donnell is offering a $250 reward. he posted his plea on facebook and has had 27,000 views. new at 11:00, four earthquakes rattled rural town in northeastern california. the shots happened not far from jamesville about an hour ago. they were 2.8 to 4.5 and no reports of damage. slow and steady progress of a fire on the edge of napa county. the so-called cold fire started on the montecello dam near lake berry yeses saw. it was just in the last few

hours the fire grew to 4600 acres. you can see the flames being fueled. the fire is now 10% con intad. a wildfire grew to 73 square miles today. massive fire. higher humidity and lower temperatures are expected to help the fire crews tomorrow. containment is now at 25%. flames have burned 57 homes north of big sur and an illegal campfire sparked the wildfire nine days ago. tonight an urgent bulletin is going out to law enforcement about attacks on officers in streets and prisons. >> it is called black august. the eye team reveals the potential danger facing officers. . >> the federal bureau of prison and sacramento intelligence units and the national gang intelligence center issued this bull law 10 to law enforcement warning of ineggs coulded risk for violence during black august. the black gorilla family or

novato, oakland, sunnyvale and all of the bay area, this is abc7 news. in the race for the white house, statements may be starting to hit the polls. on the campaign trail in florida trump spoke about unity and largely ignored the controversies that have rocked the campaign in the last few days.

>> the campaign is doing really well. it has never been so well united. right now it is the best in materials of being united that it has been since we began. >> in colorado today hillary clinton slammed trump for his disparaging remarks directed at the family of a muslim-american soldier killed in iraq. 50 years -- more than 50 years after president kennedy challenged the nation to go to the moon a bay area start up is taking on a new mission to the lunar surface. abc7 news reporter alyssa harrington says this type of space exploration has never been done before. >> the landmark decision by the government will send a company to space for the first time. until now only governments have taken missions to the moon. these are pictures of what the silicon valley start up plans to do. no humans would go on this mission. just an unmanned spacecraft. i spoke with the co-founder and ceo via skype. he is in cape canaveral where they are now based.

bay and brentwood, you will see the bright skies, but you will have to wait until early afternoon. that's why the temperatures are going down along the coast. it will never clear for your thursday. here are your temperatures, 59 in half moon bay and 62 san francisco. breezy with the clouds lingering. 75 napa and 78 santa rosa. concord and livermore and 75 in palo alto and 59 in half -- half moon bay. 88 is the average high and you are well below normal for a few days. and then the recovery happens on monday and tuesday when you are back above average and in the 90s. i do want to turn your attention to the tropics. we have hurricane earl who just made landfall near belize city, belize. it is a category 1 with 80 mile an hour wind. expected to dump eight to 12 incheses across the area. isolated winds could pick up 16 inches in honduras and belize and guatemala.
