yesterday about the shortfall of funding because 9-1-1 system is vital in california to many local communities. the funding does come from the state. it is short. by $66 million. it is around $11 million in the state fund currently which is down from $77 million three years ago. this is according to the "los angeles times" while the state is in the process of upgrading to a new system which is next generation 9-1-1 better working with wireless callers. maintaining the two systems could cost more than $90 million. the state pays for 9-1-1s is through a tabs on phone bills conditionally, but the tell communications industry is pushing for that to change. asking lawmakers to take money from the general tax fund and from grants. when the new 9-1-1 system is in effect wireless users can send t and video and other electronic data but right now we have to pay for both suspects as the new
