live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc 7 news. this reported stolen pickup truck smashed right into a san jose home this morning and a dangerous situation began unfolding for this entire neighborhood. i'm reggie aqui. >> it prompted a shelter in place where everyone was close by. matt keller is live at the scene on grady drive. matt? >> reporter: good morning, natasha, the pickup truck was towed about an hour ago. they've got a jackhammer working here by pg&e crews.

thankfully for the neighborhood, the danger from the gas leak has passed. you think a pickup truck slamming into the side of a home was the most dangerous thing to happen this morning at rowley drive and piedmont road. but it wasn't. live to this. >> i hear this huge volume of gas coming out here and the hole fills full of gas here. we said, let's get out of the house real quick. that's what we did. >> reporter: the homeowner, problem brown, didn't want his face on camera. he was the first to notice his gas meter severed. firefighters were concerned the gas could ignite and cause an explosion. they evacuated three homes and had other residents shelter in place. >> gas makes me nervous, electricity. because it is something that we train on and we get familiar with, but ultimately, you don't know exactly where it's had an opportunity to get to. >> reporter: it took pg&e grew crews about 1 hour and 45

minutes to cap the leak. at that time everybody was let back into their homes. the driver of the pickup didn't stick around to talk to police. >> he split. they couldn't catch up to him here. and then the police informed me that the truck was stolen. >> reporter: the homeowner told me he has insurance. the biggest issues for his family is getting that wall fixed and getting gas turned back on in the home. reporting live in san jose, matt keller. >> what a crazy morning for the neighborhood. oakland police are investigating a shooting and fire that happened overnight. two people were killed. we're live outside and she spoke with a neighbor and has new information. el, issa. >> reporter: that neighbor heard the gunshots and said he's sick of violence in the city. we saw one police officer on the scene and one speed off in his car, but at this point they've made no arrests. this video shows the fiery scene around 1:45 in the morning on empire road in east oakland.

flames engulf a car. the neighbor says two people were found inside. >> it's very close to home. it's like death ended up right on my doorstep. >> reporter: when police arrived they found three people with gunshot wounds. two died, another taken to the hospital in critical condition. he heard the gunshots. >> i did wake up in the middle of the night. i live with my grandmother, and she asked me about it. but i heard like 30 shots last night like 2:00 in the morning. >> reporter: he thinks he knows the victim. he says they moved to the neighborhood not too long ago. we saw police running down the street. homicide investigators are try to pin down a motive and are looking into the circumstances around these deaths. police have not released the names of the victims. anyone with information is being asked to contact the homicide department. live in oakland elisa harrington, abc 7 news. happening now all northbound 101 lanes in novato will reopen

after a crash left a 16-year-old driver hurt along with his two little brothers. it happened north of atherton avenue at 9:30 last night. the car went off the highway, down an embankment and hit a power pole. crews worked through the night to get power back on in that area. the teen driver and his 13 and 5-year-old brothers were taken to the hospital. all are expect to be okay. the chp believes that drowsy driving was a factor. also happening now, delta is looking to get back on track after an overnight computer glitch grounded flights worldwide. abc 7 news was at san jose mineta airport this afternoon as delta agents worked with passengers who were impacted. sky 7 hd was overhead sfo as delta flights thankfully started to take off. so far more than 400 flights have been canceled, and you are looking at delays throughout the day. elizabeth hur is in new york with more on the story. >> reporter: delta flights

resuming but frustration still mounting for travelers around the world. from new york to d.c., chicago, germany and london, take a look at these long lines at airports and the stranded passengers blowing up social media, venting and wondering what was going on. >> no indications. i tried to call delta, and they told me that i'd have a three-hour hold. >> i asked them what time do the flights start boarding, and they told me they couldn't check me because they have something wrong with the system. they couldn't tell me what time. >> reporter: according to dealt tarks a global computer outage at around 2:30 this morning meant every flight that wasn't already in the air could not take off. a passenger in sacramento sharing with abc news how the pilot explained the entire situation. >> back in our operations control center in atlanta, a huge room. the center of the whole operation. now, their computers are down. and if you've been trying to call and get rebooked or call

the diamond desk or anything, it looks like everybody is in the same boat. >> reporter: then just before 9:00 a.m., the computer system came back online, but the damage already done. at this time, delta is not saying exactly what caused their system to go down, but did announce they are waiving fees for passengers who want to reschedule through friday. elizabeth hur, abc news, new york. the southwest airlines employees are walking the picket lines across the country today. this is video from sky 7 hd over oakland international airport about an hour ago. the union representing flight attendants, pilots and technicians are currently lobbying southwest for a contract. the airline issued a statement saying they value their employees and continue to make progress in discussions. there doesn't seem to be a disruption to flights at this time. court employees are continuing their strike now in its fourth straight day.

the union is trying to bargain for a new contract. court officials say they can't afford the raises workers are demanding. san francisco police are hoping you can help them find the shooter who killed a man playing pokemon go. calvin riley was playing the game at aquatic park, a popular spot. riley's friend said that a gunman appeared out of nowhere, shot him in the back, then took off. there was no confrontation. he graduated from sera high school in the san joaquin valley. in a statement the athletic director at serra said that riley was a kind, respectful and thoughtful person. baseball was his passion. he really loved the game. a go fund me page has been set up to help pay for riley's funeral. you can see it's already exce exceeded the goal at 41,800 about now. we do have this link on our website, abc7news.com.

police are still looking for the person who shot and killed a 17-year-old boy in hayward. someone shot the teen several times on muir street saturday night. a second 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were wounded in that shooting and both of them are expected to survive. three children remain in the hospital this morning recovering from eating what may have been drug-laced candy at a party. in all 19 people got sick at a quinceanera saturday night. investigators say it was some kind of gummy candy without any marking to show where it came from. new details in the search for a north bay man who disappeared in the oregon wilderness. the sheriff's office says they've called off the search for riley zickel after exhausting all available leads. the 21-year-old last seen july 27th by another hiker on the pacific crest trail. he's a graduate of the high school in sebastopol. his family headed to oregon to

. los altos, antioch, petaluma and all the bay area, this is abc 7 news. happening now can hundreds of firefighters are battling a monster fire in san bernardino national forest. it is now just 5% contained. fire officials say the vegetation is incredibly dry because of our drought. it only takes one spark for it to move rapidly. and that's what happened yesterday. the fire just chewed through dry brush forcing dozens of people to evacuate. >> firefighters are making progress against the cold fire burning on the edge of napa and yolo counties. it is 70% contained. cal fire says firefighters are

getting a more accurate idea of the fire's perimeter now. they're continuing to patrol and reinforce containment lines. the largest fire in the state is actually burning in monterey county near big sur. right now the fire is 45% contained. burned 64,000 acres. that's more than half the size of the city of san jose. calfire says activity remained moderate overnight with some uphill runs and interior burning. evacuation orders have been lifted for several areas. governor brown has declared a state of emergency. the cooler weather over the weekend certainly must have helped the firefighters. is that going to continue? >> unfortunately, it's not. it's going to get a little bit warmer er ier in both of those. we'll get back to seasonal temperatures. it won't get extreme but it definitely won't help them. what's going on in the lower elevations, temperatures 60, winds are light. up at the higher elevations around the cold fire 74 degrees

and 42% humidity. unfortunately, the winds will pick up a little bit as we head into the latter parts of the evening hours. gusting to 22 miles per hour at times. but that takes the smoke away from us. down at the soberanes fire, it's 81 degrees with 29% humidity. winds will switch and get gusty this afternoon keeping all the smoke away from us. for us, we didn't have to have any haze. have a beautiful sunrise here you can see from the east bay hills camera this morning. the marine layer out to 1800 feet just enough to touch our inland east bay neighborhoods. now you can see plenty of sunshine everywhere but the coast. and most of us are good to moderate and the forecast for later today, moderate amounts of air pollution. nothing unhealthy for anybody. the streak of summer to start the week, good news, cool and we'll have a few clouds at night, especially along the coast in the central bay. if you're going to be on the
