61 in livermore. finally from our east bay hills camera, the air quality will come down again today. spare the air alert for the diablo range. temperatures climbing through the 90s today inland. cool at the coast. 70s around the bay. we'll let you know what the week ahead looks like in just a few minutes. a woman remains in critical condition this morning after a 100 pound tree limb fell on her in san francisco. she suffered a serious head wound if skieny 7 hd was at the scene shortly after it fell on her yesterday afternoon. as a city worker cut

>> the branch hit her on the head. >> she was sitting on the bench watching her two children on the playgrou playground. they were uninjured. she was bleeding from a head wound according to the fire department. a neighbor said she is horrified but not surprised. >> i think it it is always a matter of time and when. it just takes a windy day for a branch to come loose. >> just before the branch was cut up, we noticed they were taking measurements of the limb. it was 19 inches around. it has been six years since they were evaluated. >> would the drought have any effect on it's health? >> we don't think so, the tree itself has good moisture content and the wood is very healthy. >> this is not the first time a branch injured or killed someone in the still.

in 2008 a woman was killed in stern grove by a falling limb. as crews were cleaning up they noticed another broken branch on the same tree so they called in a cherry picker to cut it down. >> now to the wild fire that raced through the hills yesterday. crews in the air and on the ground rush to respond to the flames. it started in a report part of santa clara county just west of morgan hill. it burned 25 acres and is 10% contained. here is katie marzulo. >> from sky 7 hd you see the thick smoke riding from the hillside.

it was so powerful, it was like a fire tornado, it was crazy. >> she and her friends were having fun putting up party decorations, but the hood changed. >> we had leaves that were still on fire landing on us. >> it was a dramatic situation even from a distance, a viewer tweeted this photo of her view. cal fire tweeted out evacuations. >> aircraft were very quick into the area and helped slow the progression of the fire, but because of the steep and difficult terrain they made runs pack up the hi back up the hill. >> the electricity can make it's way through, if the fire destroyed the poll it's can compromise the lines and then we have energized lines around the

firefighters. >> they had to deenergize a line and cut power -- >> i was told we would be up and running by the time my party started. >> power poles are burned and will need to be repaired. firefighters are making progress on the sopranos fire. it is now 60% contained and has burned 70,000 acres. it started three weeks ago caused by an illegal campfire. >> the man blamed last year for the devastating campfire says a witness saw a suspicious vehicle in the area before the flames broke out. john flinch also demanded they turn over evidence from his property. they showed an out of code

cherokee fired a bebe gun out the window and hit someone in the head. another incident involving that same jeep happened just a few minutes later. the jeep has tinted windows and chrome wheels. the first number of it's license plate is 7. a millionaire tech mogul will appeal his domestic violence charge. he was once labelled america's most eligible bachelor. he plead guilty to beating his girlfriend three years ago. prosecutors say he attacked another woman just five months into his probation. domestic violence activists want

a tougher sentence. >> do we feel he is a public safety threat? yes, we do. striking court workers in santa clara county could be back on the job as early as monday. union workers reached a deal yesterday afternoon. hundreds of workers walked off of their job last week and demanded raises in a new contract. many people could not file routine forms because of the strike. mysterious rectangle blocks found in horse troughs were found to be mosquito pesticide. officials feared the blocks were rat poison that someone put in the troughs to harm horses. yesterday a test shows an organic pesticide used to

eliminate mosquito larva. a man destroyed a religious text in front of a group of six elders. now international media picked up this story because it is an incredibly offensive act that police say there is nothing they can do. katie has more. >> everybody, they are really upset. >> the community at union city is aghast. >> we didn't do anything to anyone, so why did they do this to snus. >> a man walked up with a copy of a holy text >> they respect the culture and their feelings are hurt. >> we tried to stop him.

popular netflix series has been reversed by a federal judge. the series "making of a murderer" captivated the nation after it was released last year. >> we want justice. inspired activism and protests. and in one man's very real fate. a federal judge in wisconsin over turned the conviction. he was found guilty of helping his hunkle steven avery rape and murder a photographer. the netflix documentary raised questions about whether the learning disabled teen was coerced in that confession. they questioned the 16-year-old four times in 48 hours.

a alert has gone out to merchants of a man who has gone to at least 14 businesses in the inner richmond to complain about food he says he bought. he then demands a refund or something necessary return. on tuesday, the suspect went to nourish cafe at 6th avenue and california street. >> the story was changing, the reason was changing. he said it was too dry, then there was a hair, and he was just making it up. >> at a local bake shop he complained about cup cakes that were not on the menu. he did get a few pieces of pizza after complaining about burnt pies. the pay area is known for traffic jams, but it is rare to

see one like this. >> right here you're looking at a tribe of goats blocking traffic on concord avenue. there was about 200 animals in all. the honging didn't make them move any fast ere. it took them about 15 minutes to get them back into their pen. the goats owner has since fixed that hole. >> happening today, it is time to limber up if you want to audition for a spot on the warrior's dance team this season. you're looking at scenes from last year's audition. there are two tryouts today. the audition process takes place over several days and finalists from today's auditions will dance once again on the 18th to try and make the team. >> this year's festival will

right now we're looking at low clouds and fog with half mile visibility. a live look outside, this is above the clouds in our central tower camera. you cannot see too much out there. a little overexposed, but there we go. 52 in half moon bay, 60 in mountain view. so everyone will get into the sunshine by about, i would say, 9:00 at the latest, and 8:00 for most of you. there is a finger of the fog through richardson bay. allowing temperatures to cool off. finally from our east bay hills camera, check it out, this is gorgeous. this usually happens when the atmosphere has particlates in it. a prettier sunrise and sunset.

so it is a hot pattern through next week. we will see minor fluctuations day today, and perhaps another spare the air day. poor air quality. it should get better tomorrow. this is tomorrow. low to mid 90s in the red, the oranges are comfortable, and look what happens on monday. it is all shifting west ward. so you can count on summer time sticking around throughout the week ahead. hottest day should be today 88 tomorrow, and tomorrow, you notice the cooler weather then it warms just back up again into the mid 80s.

summerlike warmth coming for the weekend, i'll let you know. >> today friends and family of a san carlos woman will hold a celebration of life in her memory. she was visiting her fiance in austin when she was killed. a graduate of woodside high school was a long-time bus driver from the sequoia union high school district. her celebration of life begins at noon. >> a 19 month hold boy who fell from a third story window in foster city died from his injuries. he went through a screen at an apartment complex and fell 20 feet to the ground on thursday morning. he died later that night at stanford medical scenter. authorities are calling this a tragic accident. >> more than two dozen people

need to find a place to live after damage from a traffic accident. it weakened part of a five unit building in chester city. a vehicle hit two parked vehicles and shoved them into the building yesterday around 2:15 in the morning. >> we cannot have them occupy them until they building is fixed. >> the driver of the car went to the hospital after getting hurt. the accident is now under investigation. >> for the second time in less than a month, smp has returned to a busy san jose street to cut down a row of trees. a total of 46 trees have been sliced with a clean cut to the trunk. environmentalists are appalled and a reward is now being

offered. the damage is now spread down both sides of meridian avenue. 23 threes were cut nearly a month ago on the left side, and now the matching 23 on the east side have been cut. >> this does not happen in a minute. it would take up to a half an hour to saw off of the trees. it is time and i know this is a busy street that has, even in the dead of night, there is traffic. >> it may be a busy street, but no one has reported seeing anything suspicious. a reward is being offered of $5,000. >> this mean vandal has set the city back from trying to beautify things. we will replant the trees and we will set up a camera. >> he funded it from his own office budget.

they were planted from the group our city forest. volunteers who came by to water them discovered the vandalism. they planted 80,000 trees in san jose. they say the chinese fringe and pines provide shade on the street and median strips and clean the air. destroying trees is baffling to them. >> i don't see how anyone can come in with the mind-set and take everything down. >> david louis, abc 7 news. turning now to the rio olympics. simone manuel has another shot at a medal today in the women's 50 meter free style. she made u.s. history earlier this month. manuel who goes to stanford became the first african-american woman to win a individual medal in swimming at the olympics.

sacramento is once again at disturbingly low water levels. tens of millions of gallons of water have been pumped from the lake. it is be e.g. delivered to farmlands and to save endangered fish. the lake was at 73% capacity thanks to a powerful el nino, but now it is at 43%. another lake is at an even more dire state. the san luis reservoir is only 10% full. that is the low test has been in 27 years. on april 1st, it peaked at 52%. they are facing similar challenges to folsom lake. water is being released to help endangered salmon.
