>> damage left behind in what is the latest, more than 120 b.b. gun attacks in the east bay. a search is underway for this jeep grand cherokee. investigators say someone inside fired a b.b. gun, hit a woman in head and targeted a business. lonnie is live with new details. >> reporter: alameda county sheriff's deputies are keeping mum about the attacks. they're giving us a vehicle description. but residents and business managers are very concerned and would like to see someone

caught. it's boarded up with broken pieces of glass but this san leandro domino's pizza shop is open. it's the latest target in a slew of businesses fired upon by b.b. gun vandals. store manager is filling in for another supervisor. >> came in this morning and it was just like that. i'm not sure what happened. >> investigators say the first b.b. shooting attack happened thursday night, further down east 14th street. then a few minutes later, the b.b. vandals fired at domino's here at east 14th and 163rd 163rd avenue. the attack has patino and others on alert, taking every precaution possible. >> make sure we don't open the door, the inside door. just as we open, but not the inside. >> reporter: police say since december there have been 125 b.b. gun shootings in san lee an row and nearby cities. earlier this year, detectives say vandals used b.b. guns to

shoot at four parked cars in this industrial section of san leandro. for patino, all seems to senseless. >> people i guess are not caring about others. >> as for leads, the sheriff's detectives are looking for the driver of this jeep grand cherokee. the sheriff's office released pictures of the general captured on surveillance camera. >> now to developing news on the east coast, police in new york city are searching for a gunman who shot and called a leader of a mosque and another man. the imam and the man were leaving a prayer service when they were shot in the back of the head. one of the worshipers blames the shooting on political anti-muslim rhetoric. a woman from san carlos who died at the hands of a gunman in austin, texas, was fondly remembered by those who knew her

best. last month she was visiting her fiancee in austin when was was shot and killed. she was a long-time bus driver for the sequoia union high school district. austin police have made an arrest and the woman was not the intended victim. crews are conditioning trees in a san francisco park after a 100-pound tree limb fell on a wok, critically injuring her. we were over washington square park in the city's north beach neighborhood. the victim was inside the park with her two children yesterday afternoon when that branch fell. the 36-year-old woman suffered a serious head wound. san francisco's recreation and parks department tells us they'll have crews on the scene next week to determine there if have been any changes to the condition of the tree and will review all trees there. the department says crews last assessed them in 2010, and the one in question was in good condition. firefighters spent another day trying to keep a wildfire from growing in the hills west

of morgan hill. helicopters and airplanes attack the flames. crews also dealt with steep, rugged terrain. the fire is 75% contained. you can see on the map where the fire broke out in a remote area yesterday afternoon. slow and steady progress reported today by fire crews battling the soberanes fire in monterey county. the fire is now 60% contained, up from 55% yesterday morning. it has now burned nearly 72,000 acres, or more than 112 square miles. an illegal campfire is blamed for igniting the fire three weeks ago. the man blamed for causing last year's devastating valley fire now claims a witness saw a suspicious vehicle in the area just before the flames broke out. the santa rosa press democrat reports the man filed legal papers demanding that calfire

turn over evidence seized from his property. investigation found an out of cord electrical connection caused the fire. to developing news in louisiana. rescue crews have saved more than 1,000 people frommed in waters. a storm system dumped the equivalent of four months monthf rain in one day. two people have died. here's the latest from louisiana. >> reporter: the rain just keeps coming. >> it's certainly not over. >> reporter: the flood waters keep rising. >> there are houses, everything in there, is destroyed. >> reporter: louisiana under siege, hundreds of rescues as emergency crews rush to bring everyone to safety. >> we have record levels of flooding along rivers and creeks. and because these are record floods, we don't know how wide the water is going to get in those areas. >> reporter: the governor calling in the national guard to help.

emergency declarations are now in effect across portions of the state. as police and fire departments struggle to get people trapped in their homes or vehicles. >> our helicopters are primarily an active search and rescue right now. they're trying to coordinate with the officials on the ground to make sure we get to the critical areas. >> reporter: this family in baton rouge had to leave their flooded home on foot, carrying a baby through rushing water. the sheriff jumped in to help. >> the sheriff has the infant. >> reporter: officials can't get to everyone. in this case a good samaritan helped pull man from his sinking vehicle. >> i told hill, don't panic, i'll get you out. >> reporter: but people pushing past warning notices and driving into danger is frustrating for law enforcement, putting more people at risk. >> the sign says road closed, it's there for a reasonñãand we know what it means. don't cross it. >> i would stay home. >> reporter: abc news,

louisiana. >> we wanted to share with you this video of a man in louisiana risking his life to save his dog and his neighbor's puppies. the man left his home as the water rose inside two inches high. he returned for the dogs and says the water three feet deep. one animal shelter is building temporary housing for animals. >> words of warning from house democratic leader nancy pelosi following a cyber security breach the u.s. capital. the issued a letter saying she has received scores of obscene and sick calls, voice mails and text messages following yesterday's breach. a hacker posted personal cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses of democratic house members online. pelosi says there is an ongoing threat assessment by capitol police. the campaign arm of the party has hired a cyber security firm to investigate. the race for the white house

directions. mountain view police posted photos on twitter. during the incident a power transformer was knocked out. the gas line was capped and the road re-opened at 11:00 this morning. eight years ago an artist gained worldwide fame for posters showing then presidential candidate barack obama along with the word "hope'" now has a new project in san francisco. his latest work rises before al bama and 20th street. it's based on a photograph taken of the united farmworkers cofounder cesar chavez in 1964. he hopes it encourages young people to vote. volunteers teamed up today to feed hungry people on the peninsula and overseas. we were at san mateo's hillsdale high school where groups packaged 45,000 meals. a private company called dream dinners and a nonprofit organized the event. >> helping children in san mateo county who are food insecure and

you're looking at something rarely captured on video. this is a fire toward or a fire-nado. firefighters captured the video near portland, oregon. fire-nados develop when wildfires develop their own winds and the winds generate a spinning vortex of flames. firefighters put out the fire-nado and nobody was hurt. a group of swimmers braved called water, powerful currents and encountering sharks. swimmers finished the 24th 24th alcatraz sharkfest. the journey poses many challenges for elite swimmers. when alcatraz was a prison, only one prisoner successfully escaped and made it to san francisco, only to be caught. three others tried and were never heard from again. we made drew tuma stand right there to give you the weather forecast. >> ie#8ez francisco, we're

coming up at 6:00ment an horrific north bay crash leaves a woman impaled. details on the driver who ran away. >> this animal needed help after being stuck for hours. an emu with attitude gave morgan hill police a reason to have also fun on social media. the department posted these pictures twitter after officers chased and caught up with an emu who escaped from a farm. if you think catching the big bird would be easy, emus can run up to 31-miles-an-hour. need a please car to chase that down. that does it for us at 5:00. thank you for your time.
