of the remaining members of the department who under extraordinary circumstances protect and serve the city with great honor. >> reporter: we spoke to the san jose mayor following the officer's arrest. >> as soon as it was discovered, a first indication that there was a police officer who was involved in this crime, we did everything we could to ensure he was immediately taken off the force. >> reporter: police in cooperation with the santa clara district attorney and drug enforcement and the fbi carried out the investigation. resulting in a toll of 34 search warrants being served yesterday in santa clara county, southern california and the state of louisiana. among the items that were seized, handguns, vehicles, illegal gambling machines and more than $200,000 in u.s. currency. investigators also recovered more than 4,000 extacy pills and 600 pounds of marijuana, xanax and molly and steroids and also taken into evidence was an alligator. the suspects, many of whom are

vietnamese, range from 19 to 52 and booked in the santa clara county jail. six people remain at large. in san jose, chris nguyen, abc 7 news. meantime, a south bay city council man is out on bail after arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. campbell police arrested the councilman jeffrey christina yesterday and investigators say a woman showed up at the police department and told officers she was involved in a domestic violence incident with him, who is her fiancee. christina posted the $20,000 bail and was released yesterday afternoon. police in san francisco want to find a man who beat up a woman in pacific heights so badly she needs to have surgery. just let me warn you here, the video you are about to see is very disturbing and violent and sickening. surveillance captured the attack on saturday evening. watch what this guy does.

you see a man ran up to the victim and continuing to punch her and it continues like this for 30 seconds. the woman did not fight back. it happened across the tree from lay fayette park and the man had earlier approached the woman while walking in the park but she did not speak with him. the woman's nose was broke nen several places and police say the man got away and last seen on golf street. police in hayward need your help finding two men. today they released these steps of the suspects in a deadly stapping ten days ago on cottonwood and corkwood a week ago. the 42-year-old man died at the scene. witnesses saw the two men accused in the murder take off in a white vehicle. so the sketches are based on those witness descriptions. if you have seen either one of these men, police call hey pard police. the number of people killed from the magnitude 6.2 earthquake in central italy now is at 159 but that number is continuing to grow and expected to continue to do so.

a san francisco social network that allows residents to share information with neighbors is taking a big step toward ending racial profiling on the site. >> that is right. the change is triggered by complaints from oakland. eric thomas has the story. >> reporter: neighbors in oakland's diamond neighborhood helped get the ball rolling by airing concerns that some of the posts on the website next door were vague and even offensive.

who became famous for his obama hope poster in 2008. a woman accused in the torture and murder of a homeless man in golden gate park was arrested this week in arizona. police located the 19-year-old samantha rund strom in the town of flagstaff yesterday afternoon. san francisco police announced the arrest of 26-year-old michael grasso. he is the fourth person arrested in connection with the murder of the 66-year-old steven williams at alford lake on may 24th. court documents accused the suspects of attacking and beating the victim for more than three days before knocking him unconscious near the lake. two wildfires burning in monterey county are only 60 mile as apart, according to the cal fire chart. the hurst castle fire is now 39% contained up from 35% earlier today so there is progress and it has burned more than 63 square miles and destroyed 45

homes in san luis obispo and monterey county. 2400 people have been evacuated and the castle is still closed. the larger soberanes fire is 60% contained and that fire has been bushing for just over a -- burning over a month now south of carmel valley and 57 homes have been destroyed. local fire departments will get millions of dollars from sacramento to remove dead trees to reduce wildfire risks all across california. cal fire estimates there are about 70 million dead trees throughout the state. this year state budget includes $16 million in grants. local departments will decide which trees will get removed. >> we are most concerned over the dead trees near where people leave, near evacuation routes and power lines and infrastructure, that is our focus. we are not removing every dead free. our environmental benefits to these dead trees -- >> removing some dead trees will reduce greenhouse gases as well. a popular baby toy is under

recall because of a possible choking danger. >> the consumer product safety commission urges parents not to let kids play with them. >> michael finney is here with that story. >> this is a very popular toy, too, so people need to listen up. they are recalling 91,000 packages of building blocks for children. thankfully there are no reports of injuries, but 22 reports of detaching parts. the recall affects three toys including the alex toys baby builder blocks that come in a clear container with colorful plastic parts. the recall also affecting certain packages of first snaps building blocks and the first pops building toy, all have parts that could be pulled, snapped and twisted and they could detach and pose a choking hazard. i posted information on how to return them for a refund. you could find all of that information at abc7news.com. ford motor company is recalling 86,000 cars today because they could stall while

driving. ford said the fuel pumps could fail and that may prevent the cars from starting or they could stop while driving down the street. so far ford has no reports of injuries or accidents. it affects ford taurus, flex, lincoln marquee and mark s and all are from models years 2013 to 2015. ford of course is offering free repairs. if you have a headphone jack on your iphone and don't want apple to get rid of it, you have gained an in flewen shall ally. he is steve wozniak, who cofounded apple computer 40 years ago. he he said don't kill that jack. rumor has it apple wants to make the new iphone thinner so there might not be room for a headphone jack and users would have to use bluetooth headphones and he said it doesn't sound as good and he personally wouldn't use it. wozniak wouldn't use a apple
