patients survive a deadly form of cancer. the goal is to locate leftover cells that could allow the disease to return. >> it's been a stressful journey for shauna since being diagnosed with melanoma to her left arm. after surgery to remove it, she hopes the rest is behind her. >> they have gotten everything out of my arm but going back in to do the margin of error. >> reporter: to narrow that margin of error, the doctors are injecting shauna with radioactive particles engineered to attach themselves to livermore nodes where radioactive cancer cells could be hiding. >> the goal is to take out every cemetery centimeter of a lymph node. >> they can actually see the activity attached to the nodes. >> we're seeing a collection of dots in the background.

fans of bacon will be disappo t disappointed to hear a popular labor day festival in san jose has just been postponed and organizers are blaming lack of police protection. matt keller has the details. >> reporter: there's a beef full of bacon in the city of san jose. originally scheduled for labor day weekend has been postponed along with the breakfast on the holiday monday. >> we got a letter about 2 1/2 weeks before our event saying there wasn't enough resources to put it together. we looked into it and found out it was a police issue. >> reporter: ryan sebastian is on thor of movable feast and said they were forced move it to mid-october after a person with the city he did not want to identify, told him the police department did not have enough resources to provide officers over the holiday weekend. that would make sense since san

jose police are facing a major officer shortage and thinking of moving dozens of detectives back to patrol. they said it was not true and the plans were sent in 20 days late and the denial was due to time constraints not officer shortage, however he shows this application sent to an event coordinator july 8th and his application form signed june 25th. he said it's obvious why the bacon festival was postponed. >> you talk to the average person who lives in the neighborhood in san jose and ask them if they had enough resources to cover burglaries, i think you would say no. the city is considering an emergency declaration. that speaks for itself. >> reporter: organizers were expecting 10 to 15,000 people over the labor day weekend. if you bought tickets for that event, you can use them in october or turn them in for a refund. matt keller, abc7 news.

good evening. >> this case has a lot of people angry and very upset. let's go straight to "abc news" reporter, david louie live at san jose at the santa clara jail. >> reporter: a lot of people don't see trauma or potential child abuse. it wasn't until this six week old girl suffered from hrnyak distress she was taken to the valley medical center where evidence surfaced she was suffering from some serious trauma. an ambulance was called to this apartment in the burbank neighborhood of unincorporated santa clara county. a 6 weekend gi-- 6 week old gir was admitted. >> they learned there were over 14 frarktures. sheriff's detectives, homicide detectives and crime scene were sent to the scene. >> reporter: the father was charged with felony child abuse

and felony domestic violence. this case has similarities to one six years ago one he entered no contest to felony child abuse, the victim then his 4-year-old daurblgghter. the girl sustained a high impact blow to the side of the head causing internal contusion and bleeding. he was ordered to 52 weeks of child abuse prevention classes. a neighbor gloria recently spoke to him and asked we shield her identity. >> a couple weeks ago i asked how the baby was doing. he shared her name and she was doing well with the mom. >> reporter: no one was home when we knocked at the apartment that dis-bala a bal zabala and girl share. >> a baby, it's never right to do
