7. there are many questions associated with what we're learning tonight. a report was filed in october so what happened to that investigation, or, was there any? and what about the school district? >> the teacher, a 40-year-old heather butts was arrested last week. officers found butts with a 15-year-old girl in a parked car here in san bruno. abc7 news is not releasing the girl's name or where she went to school. she apparently had a long relationship with a girl. what is more disturbing, abc7 news learned that a parent went to millbrae police as far as

last october, 10 months ago, to file a report after he discovered the elicit relationship. police interviewed the parent, his child, and other students. during that interview, police got screen shots of text messages and exchanges on social media sites between the teacher and student and the parent told us police assured him that this would be turned over to the school district. the parent said that in february, he went to the school's dean of students about butts' inappropriate behavior. he said the administrator told him the district was aware of the report. we asked three educators what they thought. >> immediately, act on it. you know? teacher should have been removed from the classroom. >> they should have jumped on it as soon as it was reported. something is going on. they're covering it up. >> the sheriff told us they

found the reports and they don't know why they weren't completed in a timely fashion. they've launched a probe as a result of our inquiries. police are investigating the shooting of a woman in her early 20s in an east bay mall. officers were investigating and someone alerted them to a shoplifting incident nearby. new at 6:00 late this afternoon, the clayton fire 100% contained. the fire burned two weeks south of laura lake. 189 homes burned to the ground with more than 100 businesses and other structures, burning six square miles which is almost four times the size of golden

gate park. a six week old girl named mila died from severe abuse she suffered during her brief life, including broken bones and a crushed skull. her father is charged with murder in the death. the judge set bail at $1 million. he told detectives he was sometimes too rough with the baby. last sunday, he said he grabbed her head into a carrying handle. six years ago, he was arrested for abusing his older child. i don't know if it's a breakdown in the system. i think them are charged with child abuse and still have minor children in the home chlts. >> he faces life in prison if convicted. and if you know someone that needs help with child care, click on the story for more

information. a month to month, 18 months since san francisco police officers shot and killed lopez. the investigation is still ongoing. >> you can see the crowd behind me here. the folks are part of the community. they have signs in hand. and they're standing just inches from where he was shot more than a year and a half ago and they're calling for justice as they prepare for the march. >> us, in the community have been in court. >> the clear and direct message belongs to the state attorney

general. the 21-year-old immigrant, 18 months ago, perez-lopez was gunned down by two san francisco police officers in the mission district. >> these eye witnesses did step forward but there are others out there who are still afraid. >> an autopsy shows six shots hit the 21-year-old man from behind and san francisco district attorney says it's important to get it right and he expects that will happen, soon. >> we'll make it public. >> the community is calling for justice. smith says he's been pressured not totem the officers. >> the law enforcement community is pressuring him not to file

charges. >> the system he says needs an outside investigator to review and bring justice. and these people are planning to take the march from here to the police headquarters here in the mission district and the family filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the chief of police, the city of san francisco and county of san francisco. that is the latest. reporting live, lonny riviera, abc7 news. >> thank you. >> to an update from the abc7 news i team. a police sergeant drove a 19-year-old to the airport. a victims' fund is paying for treatment. she told the i-team she had sex with 30 officers, several when

she was underway. investigations are underway and dan noyes says she's excited and nervous about the months in rehab. a violent crash on tuesday stopped traffic on san francisco's market street that through plenty of bystanders and rubber neckers and a lot of them started taking pictures and videos. what is unexpected is for that to result in a physical brawl on the sidewalk. we're live with more on this fight. melanie? >> reporter: this is what many of us do is what peter muller was doing here, he was taking a picture and three people nearby didn't like that for some reason. now, those three people could be facing misdemeanor battery charges. when a cab driver jumped a

curve, peter muller went to see what happened. >> i wanted to go check it out. >> he was one of dozens taking pictures and veryo. he says a man began yelling at him. >> he said i should be concerned with the feelings of the victims. >> police responded and another incident is beginning. muller says he walked away from the woman, and returned. you can see a heated verbal argument. a man pulls the women back until muller said one last sentence before turning away, again. >> get his girlfriend out of my face. >> the man punched the back of his head. >> at what point does it become okay to attack someone for taking a photo? >> one woman continued to attack muller as he pinned the man to the ground. police arrived, the person taking this video went down stairs. >> i heard someone say i have a video.

i'm like, thank you. >> he took this picture of the three people, cuffed. police say they were sighted and released. muller has scrapes and he said he has prescription sunglasses he was wearing. >> someone took a rido he ended up helping me. but the root stems from someone taking a video or a photo of something that happened. >> in san francisco, abc7 news. police are asking for the public's help identifying thee people involved in a robbery at usf. they say two men and one woman stole a lap top last month. police showed the three walking through the halls of the university building. police say two students were punched in the face and robbed of a backpack and cell phone in another building. the two then took off. help is coming from renters who are challenging evictions in

california. it could put you on a list that can ruin your credit. and make it almost impossible to rent a new place. >> attorney denise barton was lucky to find this home. it's affordable with plenty of space for her twin daughters but she misses her old apartment in the outer richmond in san francisco. the neighbor had character and was much closer to work. unfortunately, last year she was evicted. >> i have been a landlord before. i never knew this existed. >> she didn't know, but found out, she could sue to block the eviction she had weeks, not months to reach a resolution, or else. >> if i didn't in 60 days, my name would go on a black list, i would be barred from renting again or my credit would be destroyed for seven years. >> in california you can challenge the eviction, but if there is no resolution in 60 days, your name goes on a list

called the registry. land lords often scour these lists and often refuse to rent to the people on them. >> our bill says your name can't be placed on the list until the end of a resolution of the case. >> the bill squeaked through by one vote and is now on the governor's desk. land lords are lobbying hard for a veto. the president of the small property owners sent us an e-mail saying in part, many of us have one rental and we need to be able to access school information as any other business but for denise, the experience has been so painful, she's moving out of the bay area. >> eric thomas, abc7 news. a situation in oakland is being called a dishonor to set trans. >> the solutions that have been tried but haven't fixed this

here. >> one resident says to process. >> this is san joes yeahs '34th homicide of 2016. a nearly 6% jump from last year. >> second guessing whether this is a safe place to live at nowadays. >> anyone that can help is urged to call san jose police. golden gate bridge users may see a change in the way they pay tolls. bridge officials are considering a new collection structure. kristin zee is here to show us how it would work. >> reporter: this is how drivers pay tolls on the golden gate bridge. here at the toll plaza, this is

what bridge officials are considering now. and lights, cameras, lasers along the platform, hanging above the roadway. >> they're going up around the nation. they're the way the selection is starting to be done more and fore and in the future. >> bridge officials say with the new technology, drivers will not crash. let's show you on google earth where the gantre was located. right there. and so right about there, this plan has to go through a environmental process. earliest would be the end of 2018. and this is regarding the golden gate bridge. >> let's take a look at the bridge now. you're going to notice cars on the northbound lanes on the right are not moving.

that is not just because of traffic. there is an accident at vista point blocking those lanes so you'll want to avoid leaving for some time. >> just gave you a good view of the golden gate bridge. you can see it's gobbling up portions of the coastline now. and making a nightly push over the bay. it will push well inland tonight, bringing with it spotty drizzle. taking a look at current conditions here is a live view downtown san francisco showing you lots of blue skies over this portion of the bay. and becoming partly cloudy now. 67 in morgan hill. this is the view, clouds coming in from our camera looking west to gray skies.

and 75 in livermore. blue skies and patches of low clouds and fog beginning to push over the bay. clouds, fog, and spotty drizzle overnight. sunny skies over the bay and inland that we'll have below average temperatures. talking to you about the smoke from the sobranes fire, air quality will be moderate. inland east bay and coast and up in the north bay. let's take a look at overnight conditions. we'll go to winds that may be helpful. mixing up smoke and improving air quality. gusts at 35 miles per hour fairfield and other locations are experiencing breezy conditions as well. so this will help provide good air quality. overnight, low clouds, fog will cover the bay area and coastal, spotty drizzle and maybe some around the bay.

low temperatures in the upper 50s and mild overnight. and this is our forecast animation showing the surge of low clouds and fog across the bay. so foggy tomorrow morning is not usually a big commuter day. and by morning, mainly sunny skies by mid day over the bay and inland. and there are patches of low clouds and fog lingering near the coastline. mainly mid to upper 70s. low 80s in morgan hill and gilroy. low to mid-70s. and 74 mountain view. 61 half moon bay. and north bay, mainly low 70s to sonoma and napa. east bay upper 60s to low 70s and inland highs in low to mid-80s.

transformative progress. in the olympics, the u.s. women won more medals than men and a woman may be elected as our next president. strides in sports, politics at home and office. but the distance is is a mile marker of how far we have to go. women face discrimination in the work place, often paid less than male counter parts for the same work, and constantly objectified in movies and magazines and too many women live in fear and violence at home. on this womens' equality day we should celebrate the strides but resolve to make more. we shall remember that when we talk of women's rights, what matters is that we're talking about our others, our wives, our daughters and friends.
