and san francisco also looking for chiefs. abc7 news was at saint mary's cathedral as people talked about the qualities they would like to see in their next chief. the police commissioners listened. they will decide who will be the permanent chief. >> we are looking for folks who have an advanced degree and are elevated and connected to the community. we are hearing qualities of honesty and integrity and an understanding of the san francisco environment. >> the academic qualifications are being cute myselfed -- being scrutinized. he is declining to do that citing pry saw so reasons. >> the oakland mayor launch had her city's nationwide search for a new police chief today. the city leaders plan to hold community forums next month. that includes listening to young people about what they want in oakland's next chief. the mayor intends to post the job announcement in 10 days and start interviewing
