making news in america this morning, donald trump is heading south today all the way to mexico city. breaking overnight, he says he'll meet with mexico's president hours before his long awaited speech on immigration. hillary clinton's campaign is criticizing that trip as it braces for potential bad news about her e-mails. with tropical weather on the move, millions in the southeast are hoping for the best as another rainmaker closes in. the forecast track coming up as well as powerful weather across the pacific. look at that eye. and singer chris brown is out of jail overnight and facing assault charges, this after being arrested after an hour's long ordeal at his home. we'll hear from his accuser for the first time. and part of a gas station goes up in flames with two children in a car nearby.

the dramatic ending to this situation caught on camera. and good morning. we begin with a major announcement overnight from the donald trump campaign. >> the republican nominee is taking his campaign south of the border planning to meet with the head of the nation that was really front and center in his tough immigration talk. >> trump accepted an invitation to sit down with the president of mexico. the meeting comes just hours before a major immigration speech and is already being criticized by the clinton campaign. abc's kenneth moton has the details live from washington. kenneth. >> reporter: diane and kendis, mexico's president extended the invite to donald trump last week to sit down for a meeting. well, late yesterday trump confirmed in a tweet he's going to mexico city. this morning donald trump is heading south of the border, the same one where he plans to build that wall. >> we are also going to secure our border. >> reporter: overnight trump rallied in washington state, but today the man who climbed to the top of the gop ladder on a plan

of mass deportations of mexicans -- >> they're bringing crime. they're rapists. >> reporter: -- will meet privately with mexican president enrique pena nieto. nieto has been critical of trump comparing him to hitler and that promise to make mexico pay for the wall riled up mexican leaders like former president vicente fox on fusion. >> i'm not going to pay for that [ bleep ] wall. >> reporter: trump's visit is happening just hours before he travels to arizona to clarify his stance on immigration, a plan trump's son told cnn is not shifting or softening. >> his policy has been the same for the last, you know, six, seven, eight months. >> reporter: the hillary clinton campaign response, "what ultimately matters is what donald trump says to voters in arizona, not mexico, and whether he remains committed to the splitting up of families and deportation of millions." clinton raked in $12 million on a three-day fund-raising swing in the hamptons. now more e-mail fallout. the state department says about 30 e-mails related to benghazi attacks were recovered during the fbi's investigation into the

former secretary of state's private e-mail server. clinton may have turned over some or all of those e-mails initially, but the state department says it still needs time to review them. like trump, clinton was also invited to meet with mexico's president. her campaign says she looks forward to it at the appropriate time. kendis and diane. >> all of these developments as the polls appear to be tightening. kenneth moton for us in d.c., thank you. results from various primary elections have also come in overnight. arizona senator john mccain held off three contenders to keep his hopes alive for a sixth consecutive term. the 80-year-old republican now faces democratic congresswoman ann kirkpatrick in november. and former gop presidential hopeful marco rubio made a late decision to try to keep his florida senate seat but still managed to beat millionaire developer carlos beruff. next up a november battle with democratic congressman patrick murphy. and also in florida losing her spot as the chair of the democratic national committee apparently did not hurt debbie

wasserman schultz. she is expected to win her seventh term in the house after holding off a primary challenge by a law professor backed by bernie sanders. breaking overnight, a hurricane watch is now in effect for parts of the florida gulf coast. >> tropical depression 9 is there churning in the gulf and it's expected to sweep across north florida sometime tomorrow. let's get more on that and some trouble for hawaii from accuweather's paul williams. paul, good morning. >> good morning, kendis, diane. we're tracking this tropical depression which won't stay a tropical depression for long expected to strengthen quickly because of the very warm waters in the gulf, and then it's going to target gainesville, jacksonville, and it's going to get stronger, so we're expecting it to get a little more oomph to it. now, what's going to happen, localized flash flooding, windy, rough surf, coastal flooding, isolated tornadoes in tampa, daytona beach. tracking madeline, although doing some weakening, it's expected to be the first hurricane to hit the big island of hawaii. we've had a couple of tropical storms, but this will be the first time a hurricane hits

actually bringing with it flash flooding, mudslides, strong winds and very high surf. take a look at the tracking. expected to be downgraded to a category 1 just to the south of hilo then downgraded to a tropical storm as it moves further out into the water. but please keep in mind, we have another hurricane lester right behind it. diane, kendis. >> well, let's get back to madeline there for a moment because this is a look at the radar, latest radar that we're getting, and this image from outer space shows how huge that eye wall is. at one point 50 miles across. as you can understand, people are preparing for the storm there in hawaii, but the president apparently is continuing on with plans. overnight the white house says they're keeping a close watch on the storm's track because the president is scheduled to speak there later tonight in honolulu, but he's still planning to be there. and also in the pacific a typhoon proved deadly in japan killing at least ten people. nine bodies were found at a nursing home this morning. thousands of people have been ordered to evacuate, and trains and some flights have been

canceled. one of the most wanted terrorists in the world has reportedly been killed. isis claims its top spokesman abu mohammad al adnani was killed in aleppo, syria. the pentagon has confirmed that al adnani was targeted in coalition air strikes, but the results have yet to be determined. the state department had a $5 million bounty on al adnani. severe turbulence forced a flight from houston to make an emergency landing this morning. united flight 880 was headed to london but diverted to ireland. 16 people on board have been taken to the hospital while the airline is said to be providing care and support to all passengers. again, more than a dozen injured on a flight from the u.s., much more on "gma." well, this is a big day. the first regularly scheduled commercial flight from the u.s. to cuba in more than half a century takes off this morning. >> the jetblue flight is set to depart from ft. lauderdale with the u.s. secretary of transportation on board. a pilot and co-pilot whose parents were born in cuba will

be at the controls. american airlines begins scheduled service next week, and there will eventually be 90 daily round trip flights to nine different cuban cities. well, coming up, what's being called a serious threat to the future of coffee. news on java no lover wants to hear. plus, men stranded with the tide coming in and time running out. see who finally came to their rescue. and tom brady getting ready to start his deflategate suspension. so, why wasn't he getting cut some slack after speaking with reporters. the answer, we might say, is a head. today there is only one park for every 14,000 americans. connection to nature is a right that the trust for public land is fighting to preserve. from boulevards to ball fields and ponds to playgrounds, together we have saved over 3 million acres of land. a park is a gift that is worth protecting.

pulled to safety after they were hit by a commuter ferry. most of those rescued suffered only minor injuries, but an instructor for the kayak company lost part of his arm. >> his bone was exposed. he had lost a lot of blood, and he was lapsing in and out of consciousness. >> he was lying on top of the kayak, and there was just a pool of blood. >> there were like a lot of helicopters and search boats, and when they got the guy, i know the team came and got him really fast, but he couldn't move or feel anything. >> wow. authorities are looking into whether sun glare may have been a factor in that accident. and that wasn't the only rescue off the waters in new york. two men who got stuck on a jetty by the rising tide had to be air-lifted to safety. they were stranded out there for more than an hour before a police helicopter pulled them in. the waters were too rough for a rescue boat. the chicago police department has formally moved to fire five officers in the fatal shooting of laquan mcdonald.

those officers include jason van dyke, who fired at the teen 16 times, and four other officers who allegedly lied about what happened. police dash cam of the incident touched off weeks of protests. the president cut short the sentences of 111 inmates, most of them convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. he has now commuted the sentences of 673 prisoners, more than the previous ten presidents combined. president obama has long called for prison reform and the phasing out of strict sentences for drug convictions. google is reportedly challenging uber, the ride sharing service would be available through its waze app and would link passengers with drivers headed in the same direction, but unlike uber, it's not really a ploy to make money as a driver, more a carpool service. >> yes, so i guess this is a dream come true for couch potatoes. a new papa john's app lets you order pizza directly from apple tv, and there's even a 25% discount just to give you an enticement.

in kansas city, miami and detroit. breaking overnight, chris brown is out on bail following an arrest for assault with a deadly weapon. >> the arrest followed a day of negotiations with police outside his los angeles area home. now, during those negotiations brown took to social media to air his frustrations. >> y'all going to stop playing with me like i'm the villain out here like i'm going crazy. good luck. when you get the warrant or whatever you need to do, you're going to walk right up in here you're going to see nothing. you idiots. >> so the woman who triggered the police response is now speaking out, as well. baylee curran says she went to the singer's house to see if she could be in his next video, but she began to feel her life was in danger. >> i thought he was going to shoot me. he took the gun out like this, put it in my face and said get the "f" out. i was getting a lot of hate mail from the fans, very, very hurtful saying, kill yourself. you're a snitch. you're a snake.

>> brown's attorney said overnight that the allegations against him are demonstrably false. brown has faced a string of legal trouble since he was convicted of assaulting his then girlfriend rihanna back in 2009. the director of the cdc says most of the money provided to fight the zika virus has already been spent. as of last week, only about 30 million of the more than $200 million allotted remains. meanwhile, congress departed from the summer recess without approving additional funds. health officials say the money is urgently needed, especially since florida is now trying to contain the virus. now to connecticut and new surveillance video of a frightening crash and fire at a gas station. a driver accidentally backed into a gas pump, which sparked a fire that engulfed two cars. a woman on the other side of the pump quickly rescued two children who were in the backseat of that second vehicle. that driver mistook the gas pedal for the brakes. tim tebow is trying to go from the gridiron to the diamond. >> so, he's won the heisman and an nfl playoff game.

close call. matt? >> good morning, this is one of the places where you can be picked up and taken to the graton casino from san jose to sonoma county. the people who were on the tour bus had a scary situation. look at this video shot by san jose firefighters and posted on twitter. it shows smoke coming from the bus at 880. fire started in the back of the bus. more pictures from twitter show the view from someone driving on 880. 16 passengers were on board. all are okay. [ inaudible ] >> the tour bus company got another bus to the scene and the passengers boarded on the way to the casino. only one lane of 880
