safety requirements. 10 vehicles were placed out of ises for violations, 6.6% higher than the national average. the severe violation, worn down tires. the driver attempted to put the flames out. >> wasn't able to extinguish the fire. >> you can see firefighters hosing down the bus. the records show the company had no fire extinguisher. the past june, and november, and january of 2015. this is the second bus fire in the last year and a half. chp confirms this 1998 coach caught fire on highway 101 in march of 2015.

with passengers on their way to a casino in another bus. >> two little girls died this morning when their mother's car plunged into the petaluma river. the highway patrol says the mother didn't have a driver's license. the mother escaped from the chevy impala just after 8:00 this morning but couldn't get to her daughters. eight police officers dove into the water. and both died after being rushed to the hospital. investigators bloef a safety seat may have made a difference. >> younger one should be in a booster seat. we have no faster seats for the

vehicle. >> you can see they were offered counselling after the tragedy. last tuesday, there was a similar tragedy. two youngsters died when their mother's truck went off highway 1 and into the russian river near jenner, she was able to get out safely. the chp describes her -- it as a tragic accident. some officers had to divert to respond to today's crash scene. firefighters put out this vegetation fire near capital expressway and center road. sky 7 was over the flames this afternoon. no houses or other buildings burned and no one was hurt, but you can see the fire got close to homes. investigators are looking into what caused the fire. the fire on the side of westbound interstate 580 slowed traffic this afternoon. take a look at the flames. grass and eucalyptus trees went up in flames.

sky 7 got there as firefighters were dousing water on the fire as we take you up top for a look. the celeron ramp was closed as crews put out the flames. loud, screeching noise you hear when riding bart could be a thing of the past. the transit agency is incorporating new technology aimed at making your ride smoother. chris? the changes are coming. bart officials are confident about the plans to reduce the noise. they're asking for a little patience. many of us dealt with the loud sounds of bart. >> there is a lot of screeching and clater. >> the sounds are just too much.

and if you're trying to talk to someone. it's bad, then. >> reporter: the levels can reach higher than 90 decibels. engineers will begin changing the wing profile, switching it from the original to a modified, tapered version. the result? possibly a 50% reduction in noise. >> when the current wheels go out of the tracks. >> work starts in three months but could take up to two years to finish. the modifications will be done in house with existing equipment meaning more money can be saved. >> more people are going to use bart because there is so much traffic on highways and accidents. i would brief to go to bart. >> the changes come after a study in connection to the new fleet that bart is phasing in.

warrant. the illegal searches were caught on surveillance camera. the video shows him falsifying reports about that incident. >> fremont police are looking for help to identify a robbery gang they say has invaded two homes and terrorized residents at gun point. the video shows them in action and could lead to identifying them, that is the hope. >> surveillance cameras on the outside of the home, we're going to show you video of armed invaders, and the video taken inside of the home. fremont police are hopeful that you'll recognize the suspect's face, and clothing. >> it's scary and unlike anything i have seen here. >> here they are in action

we're going to arizona. okay? thank you. this will be a little bit different. this won't be a rally speech. instead i'm going to deliver a detailed policy address on one of the greatest challenges facing our country today, illegal immigration. i've just landed, having returned from a very-important and special meeting with the president of mexico, a man i like and respect very much. and mexico. just as i am a man who loves my country, the united states.

we agree on the importance of ending the illegal flow of drugs, cash, guns, and people across our border and to put the cart cartels out of business. we discussed the great contributions of mexican american citizens to our countries. my love for the people of mexico and leadership and friendship that we have between mexico and the united states. it was a thoughtful conversation and will go on for a while and in the end we're all going to win. both countries. this is the first of what i expect will be many, many

conversations and we're going to go about creating a new relationship between our two countries. but it's going to be a fair relationship. we want fairness. to fix our immigration system we must change our leadership in washington and we must change it quickly. there is no other way. our immigration system is worse than anyone ever realized but the facts are known because the media won't report on them. the politicians won't talk about them and special interests spend a lot of money trying to cover them up because they're making an absolute fortune. that is the way it is.

today on a complicated and very difficult subject, you will get the truth. the fundamental problem with the immigration system in our country is that it serves the needs of wealthy donors and powerful politicians. that is all you can do. thank you. thank you. let me tell you who it does not serve. it does not serve you, the american people. doesn't serve you. when politicians talk about immigration reform, they usually mean the following. amnesty. open borders. lower wages, immigration reform

should mean something else entirely. should mean improvements to laws and policies to make life better for american if we're going to make our immigration system work then we have to be prepared to talk honestly and without fear about these important and sensitive issues. we have to listen to the concerns that working people, our forgotten working people have over the record pace of immigration and impact on jobs, wakes, schools, tax bills and general living conditions. these are valid concerns expressed by decent and patriotic citizens from all back grounds, all over.

turning brown. >> this forest is in the tahoe district. for most of the trees it's probably too late. that is why logging companies want to focus on thinning forests that are still green before bugs arrive. >> the level needs to be increased. >> forests are in trouble because we've been putting out naturally-occurring fires for decades. now, that puts them at high risk for fires. >> we're talking about thinning in areas that will have the most beneficial impact on the health of our forests.
