big island of hawaii. neighbors are already dealing with wet and windy weather. let's start with sandhya patel and live doppler 7. >> sandhya: let's lack at both of those systems. we have madeline that has egg whattenned quite a bit. that was weakened quite a bit. as we take you closer we are seeing the rain bands intensifying across the big island. it has been coming in for hours now and they are getting good rain. they have tropical storm warnings up through saturday evening for not just the big island but maui county as well. if you have personal investments in that area flooding is the biggest concern with madeline as heavy rains pound the area along with the high surf. the bigger problem is the surf. you notice madeline is passing south of the big island and will continue on that track.

thursday 2:00 p.m. hawaiian time, lester this upcoming friday will be a category 1. so much weaker than it is now. it is passing north of the hawaiian islands, but it will bring big surf with it. as you look at the atlantic, we have another system -- we have two systems. the depression is not a problem. the gulf of mexico will have a hurricane and it will pound the florida coastline. eventually working its way up across the southeastern united states. it is bringing them the storm surge and an isolated tornado is possible. we are into the peak of the hurricane season, so it is not unheard of to see all of this activity. dan and ama? >> dan: sandhya, thank you. a lot of people coming and going from hawaii. let's continue our team coverage with reporter lilian kim live at sfo with the impact on travelers tonight. lilian? >> reporter: whether they are going for a special event or family vacation people we talk to plan to stick it out and

police say burglarized a north san jose home. the homeowners don't want to be identified. but they talked us through what happened about 4:00 a.m. on june 7th as they and their two children slept. >> they broke this window and then they lift the door and then they sneak under the door. >> the man went through the garage and cut a lock on the side gate and then cut power to the house. from there he stole $10,000 worth of tools belonging to a contractor working on the house and a mountain bike belonging to the homeowner's 13-year-old son. the material losses are not the worst part. their 9-year-old daughter was traumatized. >> it took a couple days for my daughter to settle back to normal. she was scared to go into the garage after that and not to go in any rooms by herself. >> it has been a hard time for the family. >> i don't know what we will do. >> police say the man appears to be in his mid30s and 5-8 and about 180 pounds. if you recognize him call
