. good afternoon, everyone. thanks for joining us. >> a missing 11 medal b-- 11 month old boy abducted by his grandmother has been found. a citizen who saw his amber alert called police. wayne has the story. >> reporter: good afternoon. confirmation came from the hall of justice a little more than an hour ago, 11 month old is safe but his grandmother is in custody. the family has been extremely upset and worried.

>> you hear me, you bring that baby home, right now! i mean it. >> reporter: stress and concern over a missing child in san francisco today from an aunt and great-grandmother. 11 month old disappeared last night. according to the great-grandmother, her daughter, phoebe haine haines remained in car while the mother shopped inside. >> when she went inside and came out, she noticed her mom and son were missing. >> reporter: it paid off in redwood city when a caller identified the car and called police. >> the baby was actually cleared medically at the scene and the child will be going back to the family in the near future. >> reporter: the district attorney's office tells us that phoebe haynes mein time is n ss route to san francisco.

facing. a mon accused of killing his 6 week old daughter. >> this family afraid for their lives after receiving death threats. joining us live with the story, david. >> three people walked up to me outside the courtroom this afternoon complaining of threats because of video aired last week of the last court appearance of matthew zabala. they were clearly in distress but unwilling to tell me who is the target of the threats. these are the three individuals who told me about the threats. we're not showing their face because it's not clear if they're the targets of the threats or others. zabala facing murder charges for the death of his 6 week old daughter is in custody at the main jail but our source is not aware of any threats inside the main jail. it was confirmed to me off camera there have been threats

but not say whether they are death threats saying the threats are being handle by the criminal justice system. the safety of the family and witnesses is important. at issue is zabala in court last week however a booking photo has been released by the sheriff's office. in the meantime, a go fund me page set up by the sheriff's office to pay for the funeral services has raised close to 12,0 $12,000. the vmc foundation will benefit from anything above funeral expenses going towards a special bed at the neonatal center. >> there are many things that bring us together sometimes a tragedy like this. the outpouring of support has done so many hearts good, mine included. >> reporter: matthew zabala was scheduled for a court hearing this often and now continued until mid-september and did not appear in court. the public defender says he expects a series of continuances

to device a defense strategy. david louie, abc7 news. >> thank you. a vegetation fire in morgan hill was brought quickly under control. it started just after 1:30, no injuries reported. florida is bracing for a big storm. hurricane hermine is gaining strength in the gulf of mexico. it's expected to make landfall overnight along florida's p panhand panhandle. let's take a live look from st. pete beach in florida. you can see how rough the surf is there now and the trees being blown. we have the latest. >> reporter: the drenching outer bands of hurricane hermine already flooding parts of florida. >> there's still about 4 1/2 inches of water inside that house. >> reporter: homes in largo under water. >> this is ridiculous. >> reporter: in cedar key, voluntary evacuation. >> it's strictly voluntary evacuation.

weekend. strong winds and waves pummeled the shorelines as the tropical storm passed through, madeline no longer a threat but another one might be. the eye of the storm is not expected to make landfall. lester is expected to slowly weaken as it blows by the state. >> let me update you with tropical systems on both sides of the country. we start with hurricane hermine about to make landfall in the florida panhandle in the area of mexico beach and the swuwannee area. this is the first time a hurricane has made landfall in 10 years since hurricane wilma or 365 days since the last land falling storm. it is expected to make landfall overnight and move through

southern georgia and weaken to a troll sto troll -- tropical storm and to the carolinas and tennessee. >> now to hawaii as hurricane lester is approaching, the storm is centered 600 miles away from hilo, moving directly towards the island. if it stays on the path it's on now it weakens to a category 2 and then 1. if it stays on that track, the biggest threat to the island is rough surf and looks like strong winds will not produce any damage for the hawaiian islands. >> i t-the 7.1 quake occurred i the pacific ocean and there were aftershocks but no reports of serious damage or injuries. to san francisco 49ers

quarterback colin kaepernick should expect rounds of boos tonight against the chargers and san diego and rightly so says hunter duncaduncan. he and other vets view kaepernick's refusal to stand during the national anthem as anti-military statement and said that would not be tolerated if it was with the chargers. and the protest today showing kaepernick wearing socks depi depicting police officers as pigs. he responded on instagram and twitter saying he has worn the socks in the past that rogue p cops put the community and cops with right intention put the community in danger of intense trust. chris will bring us live coverage tonight at 6:00 and

11:00. two people were hospitalized after a car crashed into a dental building in vallejo this morning. the driver of this car came off tennessee street near callahan lane and admiral at 9:00 a.m. the car struck a tree, flipped, crashed into the building and landed upside down. along with the driver, both men are in stable condition. men dumped a bunch of sand on the off-ramp this morning and then just took off. it took all day to clean up this mess on the eastbound route to treasured island. police are still looking for the company responsible for the spill. lake ann is closed temporarily again because of algae. lake anza. the lake was also closed last september for the same reason. coming up on abc7 news at

let's look at september for average rainfall. this is just over .2 of rain. santa rosa, .35. and looked like it was going to rain today. the clouds are part right now from the rooftop looking over embarcadero. the temperatures didn't pop up there. here's how it looks. clouds over the bay right there. we do have temperatures for you in this panel. 80 degrees in santa rosa, 70, napa. 75, novato and 82 at fairfield and 78, livermore. we see clearer skies looking down from a higher elevation. the forecast feature, one day warm-up tomorrow, cooler days this weekend and warmer pattern begins labor day, monday, continues much of most of next week. overnight, look for clear skies

it's cool clothing that could help save energy. stanford university engineers develop a material to keep the body cool in hot climates, al w allowing air-conditioning. it shows how it allows infrared radiation flaugs it and makes it feel 4 degrees cooler than if they wore cotton. >> it would chap the heat and chap to it your body. that does not cool you down effectively.

potentially deported prisoner in jail and otherwise be freed. >> we're talking about a deportation force. how feasible are trump's immigration proposals? >> reporter: "abc news" has been reporting on these proposals. trump said they would be arrested for any crime and pl e placed into immediate removal proceedings. a lawmaker representing folks in these groups says such a policy actually exists and one of her issues in her view is it sweeps in so many minor crimes, that's one of the problems and dhs secretary and nbc consultant taking issue with trump's desire to massively increase border patrol and i.c.e. enforcement saying it would take a long time to reach the numbers he's looking for or diverted from other issues like cyber crime and terrorism. those are one or two points

help out at local schools and will be an innovation fund at six middle schools where principals can use the money in areas that technology will be best served. >> the superintendent called it a game changer. >> we are seeing improvements in terms of graduation rates and improvements in suspensions. this will accelerate it. >> reporter: they have a partnership dating back to 2013 when i-pads were handed out. san francisco, a larger district, will see 6 million this year. >> this is something we have to share with oakland. because if oakland succeeds, san francisco succeeds, too. >> reporter: the money is not seen as donation but investment in bay area students. >> we want to make sure that you also get off to college and graduate and have a great career. we want you to come back here and make oakland and san francisco even better.

>> reporter: lian melendez. stolen, a massive brief at do n dozens of hotels. >> this is the second big one in the last month or so. this happened over a six month period at many of the hotels and restaurants run by a hotel chain. sir francis hotel was among those affected by the data breach and other hotels including new york, washington, miami, los angeles, hackers installed malware on the system months ago. it's still unclear how many accounts were stolen or compromised. the list of hotels affected by the breach are on my facebook page. check it out. if you stayed at one of these hotels in the last six months,
