death of his sister after she collapsed on this san pablo street on monday night, shot in the chest. she was 7 months pregt with a baby girl who also died thxt morning after a long standoff at an apartment complex in vallejo, officers arrested a suspect. a 21-year-old, around 9:30 this morning, a man of interest turned himself into the police. >> we don't specifically want to get into the motives or the details behind what actually occurred. >> reporter: but family members tell us the men in custody are friends of the viekt who were called -- victim who were called to help after she got into an altercation after her ex-boyfriend's hope and more than one person opened fire. >> there was a report of disturbance but we want to make sure that we are categorizing

this appropriately. >> reporter: the commander said they have received more tips than usual about the case because she was pregnant. there was a special party planned for her this weekend. >> she was really excited about the baby shower. >> reporter: in san pablo, carolyn tyler, abc 7 news. a man was shot and killed this morning. sky 7 was above the the scene near 10th. the victim died after being shot around 5:30 this morning and after reports of shots being fired, the victims name has not been released. a dangerous sex offender arrested yesterday made his first court appearance. david russell was sought by officers after police say he twice tried grabbing women and dragging them to his car and both fought him off e. did not enter a plea to nine felonies, including an attempted kidnapping to commit sexual assault charge. he was arrested in north san jose after sitss provided police

with tips. he is due back in court september 14th. >> antioch police and contra costa firefighters are looking for an arsonist in a perpetrator of a hate crime that left a faum and including four children unharmed and badly shaken. >> laura anthony is live at headquarters. >> reporter: the children involved in this case are ages 4 to 14 and they and three adults got out safely. but investigators here are saying this is not only a hate crime, it was attempted murder. >> she woke me up and said, mom, the house is on fire. >> she owns the house the object of a hate crime this morning. williams and her family and grandchildren awoke to popping sounds and flames. >> and my son and my daughter, we all got the water hoses to put the fire out. >> they saw this, a swastika and

gammero after he is accused of setting a second floor hotel room on fire. his wife was staying in the room and when she left he started the fire. he later threatened them with a knife. nobody was injured in the incident. two men face criminal charges after going on a rampage at fish and chips of sausalito. he became araged when they were told the restaurant was closing and they to take food to go. one person spit on the em employee and and that was just the beginning. >> they broke the tv screen and cut my manager and one of them ran behind the counter and pushed one of my employees and broke his cell phone. >> reporter: the owner estimates the damage to be worth $4,000 and police arrested a 35-year-old and a 59-year-old

had a t has been a hot and hazy day and we'll see improvement in air quality tomorrow and cooler conditions but right now let's check on today's heat and here is live doppler 7 and you could see the low clouds and fog at the coast and and that means a warm-up. this is a 24-hour temperature change. it is eight degrees warmer in oakland than at this time yesterday and 9 degrees warmner napa and 7 degrees warmer in san francisco and palo alto and it is quite warm to hot. highs so far, not yet the official final highs. 77 at half moon bay and 82 here in san francisco and 99 in go gilroy and 95 so far as novato and santa rosa, fairfield and antioch and warm into the evening hours. here is your evening planner. you'll find warm conditions until 10:00 tonight.

finally temperatures drop below 80 by 10:00 p.m. but even at md, we'll have temperatures in the upper 60s. but the cool weather is coming and clearer air is on the way. i'll have the forecast coming up later. thank you so much, spencer. well californians are keeping up water conservation efforts despite the lifting of the restrictions, but not as much as it had been. down 11% from last year. officials stress people are still using significantly less water than at the start of the five-year drought. the governor presented his case to an integrate largest electricity grid with other states and delivered the key note address at a symposium hosted in sacramento this morning. last month the governor delayed his proposal to merge cal iso and he said such a move was necessary to produce energy reduction in the west.

low clouds trying to return to the coastline. but it is basically sunny from coast to inland right now and still quite warm as you will soon seen and here is a live view from the rooftop camera over the embarcadero and across the bay, under blue skies, it is warm, 77 in san francisco, 85 in oakland, 88 at mountain view, 90 at san jose and 93 in morgan hill and 64 at half moon bay. this is the view from the sutro tower camera and looking northward and haze with blue skies. 94 degrees in napa and santa rosa and 95 in novato and 96 in fairfield and 96 in livermore. and you could see the making of the far off low clouds working back to the coastline. these are the forecast features. cooler pattern begins tomorrow. good news. as the heat eases air quality improves and that is further good news and further cooling next week. it will feel autumn-like next week. overnight we see the return of some low clouds, not along the

entire coastline. low temperatures right around 60 in most spots so pretty mild overnight but a little cooler in the north bay valleys where napa and santa rosa see temperatures dropping into the low 50s. here is a forecast animation and seeing the surge tomorrow of low clouds back to the coast. but it won't occur until tomorrow. it is going to be pretty clear overnight as i just indicated. and if you are looking at your day tomorrow, trying to plan some activities in the morning, get out for a run or walk the dog and get out of the house, it is mild and mostly sunny at 7:00 a.m. temperatures in the low 60s. we'll see temperatures warming to upper 60s to 70s from the bay to inland by noon and up to about 90 in the warmest spots but even that will be five to 15 degrees below the highs we had today. and then at sunset, 7:27 tomorrow, still about 88 degrees in the warmest inland spots. mid-60s at coast, 70s around the bay and up to 90 in antioch and here is the accuweather

professor. a tweet from mexico where a storm made landfall as it churned toward the u.s. and dublin police are looking for suspects in a brazen home invasion robbery. four masks men and two with guns followed a woman and her three children into their home. it happened not far from another high-profile home invasion. melanie woodrow is live in dubly with the story. melanie? >> reporter: an investigator on this home invasion remembers hearing on the news about a similar incident that happened last week in fremont. as law enforcement investigates the possibility of a connection between those incidents, some people with wondering whether the latest home invasion in dublin could be related to a high profile one that happened on this street last year. investigators with dub plin police believe this is the getaway vehicle a white infinite with paper plates on it. four masked man followed a woman and her three children in through her garage on sunday night, two of the men armed.

values are hostile to conservatism and he plays on fear, exploding base instincts of xenophobia and racism and misogyny. and today democrats led by nancy pelosi accused republicans of playing politics with zika funding after democrats blocked a billion dollars gop funding bill because it contains a provision stripping money from planted parenthood. and they say it is time for republicans to put politics aside. >> the cdc director said the coverage is bare. basically, we are out of money. we need congress to act. >> senate majority leader mitch mcconnell blamed democrats saying there is no excuse not to pass the bill. zika funding is a political football for months. earlier this year republicans rejected the president's call for $1.9 billion to fight the virus. well it was among the most memorable landings in the history of flying.

the u.s. airways pilot and danville resident sully sullenberger stepped back into the spotlight for the new york city premiere of sully. it depicted the miracle on the hudson that he successfully landed a crippled plane on the river. it is directed by clint eastwood portraying him is tom hanks who said the film is more than just the heroic landing and explores the aftermath that he faced after ditching his plane in the hudson. >> i think like everybody, he was a hero and that is it, act one, all over, but what he went through for the rest of the year was i appreciated atmosphere. >> it is surreal. almost an out of body experience to see someone else on screen portraying me, very accurately, i think. >> sully premieres in theaters

nationwide on friday. as you know, most of your today's heat was in our inland areas. here is live doppler 7 hd and it is warm and free of coastal clouds but by san francisco standards it was warm here in the city. with a high of 82. compared with the normal high or the average high of 70 for this date, this is the warmest day in san francisco since may 17th of this year. that is 113 days ago. and here is a look at how temperatures will tumble in san francisco during the evening hours, going from 74 degrees at 6:00 p.m. down to 70 at 7:00 p.m. and down into the low 60s and during the overnight we'll see a low in the city bottoming off in the upper 50s. so it will be mild here even as the day starts tomorrow. speaking of tomorrow, we'll have fog back at the coast tomorrow. it will be mainly sunny over the bay and inland. high temperatures tomorrow will range from mid-60s here at the coast to low 70s around the bay. to 80s inland. maybe up to about 90 in antioch. but we will not see anything or probably not see any

bay oyster company found oysters until after a fight. the parkez service did not renew the lease and they showed off how they will remove acres of wooden oyster wax from beneath the surface and talked about the benefits. >> there is no public access in here. it was incredibly limited to a small stretch. >> the closure is still a sore subject among many locals including one who owns and runs the restaurant and not everyone trusted the national park service but with this loss, the national park service is talking about gains. and natural environment they say, that will not exactly be what we saw eons ago but will mimic it. this part of the work will last until february and then we'll see what the tides bring in and we'll note this project is costing roughly $4 million. $2 million of that come from a private foundation.

more on this at 6:00. in the meantime, live from marin county, wayne freedman, abc 7 news. the colorado mine that spilled 3 million gallons of contaminated wastewater last year has now been declared a federal super-fund site. today's action by the epa cleared the way for a mult million dollar clean-up for the mine and nearby mining related sites. a clean-up crew triggered the disaster at the inactive mine in august of last year. tainting rivers in colorado, new mexico and utah with toxic chemicals. strange sounds are coming from a planet far, far away. no, that is not darth vader. nasa said the sound was a plaza wave radio outburst coming from jupiter's southern aurora. we showed the you pictures yesterday but we're just now hearing the sound. the pictures and sound were captured but nasa juneau

are badly shaken after a graphic hate crime. good evening, i'm larry beil in for dan ashley. >> and i'm kristen zse. and now contra costa fire investigators say the fire was deliberately set and they are looking for an arsonist. laura anthony is live at antioch police headquarters with the latest. laura? >> reporter: kristen, police don't know yet exactly why this particular family was targeted. they are hoping that some home security video leads them to one or more suspects. >> we saw him light three bottles right there on the sidewalk and proceed to throw them at the house. >> reporter: there was a hate crime captured on home surveillance system and defaced her house and forced the family to run for their lives. >> she woke me up and said the house is on fire and my son and my daughter, we all got the water hoses and everything to put the fire out. >> i looked out my front window

and i saw the commotion in the driveway of the occupants trying to get out of the house with all of the kids an then i saw the flame in the front yard. >> reporter: once the family was out safely, they saw this. a swastika and racial slurs across the front of the house and on the side door all in blue paint. >> we're disgusting and appalled somebody would do this to a family in our community. and we are going to do our best to bring them to justice. >> several devices were deployed against the front of the house, near the front door and near the second story bedrooms and at the garage door and again had very serious potential. fortunately the residents awoke quickly -- >> reporter: no one was hurt and the home had minor damage. as for the offensive graffiti, williams son painted it over this morning. >> the fact that my neighborhood is a beautiful neighborhood and it looks like it does right now. >> reporter: antioch police say this is the first hate crime in their city in years. laura anthony, abc 7 news. we have
