>> live where you live. >> a sheriff deputy shoots and kill as man in an armed confrontation in a quiet south bay community. i am matt keller. i am natasha zouves. christian will be here later. still on the scene in saratoga and this all started last night. santa clara sheriff deupties were called to a home at prospect road in saratoga. it is not too far from an elementary school. tiffany wilson is there with new details. tiffany? >> you can seat road is still closed. the santa clara sheriff deputy said that the man drew a firearm on deputies who were trying to make sure he was okay. the department said that the

deputies toll him multiple times to lower the weapon. he did not. >> today the street is cluttered with yellow tape, the sheriff department said the situation started with someone requesting a welfare check at this house on titus. >> they have not heard from him in several weeks and our deputies tried to contact the person at the resident. all the lieutenant jensen said detectives arrived at 8:00 and respond an hour trying to make contact. finally, they approached the back door. >> they made entry into the back door the subject had the firearm in his hand. he raised it at the deputies. they gave several commands to drop the firearm. a sheriff deputy shot him. >> he was taken to the hospital where he died. the investigation blocked off access to the drives for christa mcauliff school overnight and through the morning. >> he just opened. we are lucky school starts at 80 and we can route most the

traffic in a normal pattern. all the district superintendent said teachers are ready to answer questions about all of sheriff vehicles parked outside. >> they can explain in the children need that kind of support. >> "los angeles times" jensen said the deputies have been called here before but he did not identify the man who was inside. as for the deputy who shot the man, he has been called a veteran and is on paid administration leave which is standard protocol. >> thank you, tiffany. santa clara sheriff deputies were busy and are combing surveillance video trying to find who severely beat an elderly san jose woman that land her in the hospital she was fudge last note with significant facial and head injuries inside her home in east san jose. her home was ransacked and the jewelry and car stolen. a concerned neighbor found her when they checked. they hope something was caught on security camera.
