a building goes up in flames. heavy smoke pouring from an apartment complex in san francisco during a two-alarm fire in a portrero hill neighborhood. i'm larry biel. >> and i'mristein sze. >> it all began at 2:00 this afternoon. this is the scene from sky 7 right as firefighters got the fire under control. it happened on 19th street and vermont. abc 7 news lyanne melendez is live from the a scene. a single-family home on the t of some businesses on the lower level. north natalie no one was hurt. now the owner of the building who happens to live there was at home at the time. he again, was not hurt. his wife arrived later to find 66 firefighters responding to this blaze.

now, their two dogs were not injured. now, one of the businesses just opened in march. a dental office. were people inside and they were qui evacuated. >> around 2:40 2:45 this afternoon we received multiple phone calls for a fire around the area of 19th and first arriving crews wereey were fire on the roof at 2210 19th street. this is a two-story residential over commercial. there's a dental building below. >> reporter: now, we found out that the owner had gunpowder in his garage so he quickly let firefightersknow. potential danger. now, the fire occurred across the street in a high school. now, today is wednesday, so it was a short day, so there were very few students inside the school. they were told those inside were told to shelter in place, again, fortunately no one was hurt. the cause.

building in san francisco's portillo hill. you're looking at crews venting the roof there allowing smoke and gas to escape. they say two people were burned out of their home and an n is under way to see whether a mysterious odor is linked to an oil sheen in san pablo bay. this is video of a ship that appears to be the source of the sheen. that odor in valuingia prompted a shelter in place order last night. abc 7 reporter vicee tweeted about 100 people were rushed to the hospital complaining of symptoms from the smell. you'll hear from some of them on "abc 7 news at 5:00." and in charlotte, north carolina city officials are bracing for another night of protests following the deadly police shooting of a black man. this as the family of another man shot by an oklahoma police officer is also demanding justice. aches news reporter ray raimondi is live with the outrage over the two most recent deadly police shootings. ray? >> reporter: peaceful demonstrations and protests are

animal and it must be allowed anywhere for instance your rent and your house, to help you perform a normal day-to-day duty but it's only a dog. now, for instance going through an airport, you generally can't have an emotional animal and once you get on a plane you generally can. you see how complicated this is getting. there's a patch work of laws. a lot of dogs are wearing service animal. you can write that and put it on your dog. it gets very complex. >> since california passed the end of life bill, i'm wondering what the insurance companies' take is on this. can they and will they refuse to pay? >> they are not. they are very cool about this. they have been right in the middle of this the whole time because they wthere weren't going to be these issues. as long has you go through all the steps and follow your law you should have no problem at all. we don't know of a single problem where the insurance company refused to pay. as long as you're following the law. >> okay. >> also james d. from american canyon e-mails can schools require tax papers and w2 forms

rose by 1%. now it doesn't sound like much but if that were sustained it would be a 12% increase for t hospitaler is vices climbed the most of all health care. meanwhile, prescription pain kill remembers more widely used than tobacco. 35% of americans were given a pain killer prescription last year and most isn't misused. it's for people who have had surgery and need some pain relief. fast food restaurants are still getting flunking grades for antibioticpolicies. burger king kfc and 14 other restaurant chains aren't doing enough to eliminate antibiotics from the meats they serve. antibiotics in meats has been linked by some to humans developing a resistance to the grass-fed beef once a niche luxury, is now sold at because, convention centers and nearly every walmart in the country. sales of fed beef comprise 1.4% of the 18 billion fresh beef market in the u.s. last year but its growth rate has far outpaced conventional beef in recent years. many consumers perceive
