advisory, a red flag going into effect in the north bay. details in a few minutes, chris. lis sarks thank you. developing news out of washington state, where a gunman opened fire inside a mall. the state patrol is on a massive manhunt to find the shooter who killed four woman and one man. it happened just before 7:00 last night at the cascade mall in burlington. troopers say the gunman was armed with a rifle. this is a picture of the suspected gunman. troopers say the area is rural and plenty of places to hide. >> still searching for the suspect. we've got dozens of detectives behind me going absolutely over every tip, both on social media, phone calls, trying to determine where this suspect is at. >> troopers say they do not know if this was a targeted shooting

lexus is smashed. it happened around 1:30 in mountain view. in a statement, the company says the other vehicle ran a red light. the statement goes on to say, quote, human error plays a role in 94% of these crashes, which is why we're developing fully self-driving technology to make our roads safer. mountain view police are investigating the crash, a spokesperson says self-driving cars are common in the city. >> the traffic officers are extremely used to seeing these vehicles out on the road. they speak with google regularly about incident reports and what not. >> people in mountain view give the technology mixed review. >> when you put your trust in something mechanical that can malfunction and you have no, you know, you don't have the ability to stop it because it is in the process of doing what it does. >> they drive conservatively are more like grandma drives, so if they're driving too carefully, they'll bring safety in the

future. >> google says in seven years, only one crash was it the google car's fault. it was going at two miles an hour while trying to merge. katie marzullo, abc 7 news. the city of richmond has recommended discipline for nine officers all connected to a sex scandal that has rocked a number of law enforcement agency across the bay area. it involves jasmine abuselin. one officer faces termination. another faces demotion. two face suspensions, and five are faced with letters of reprimand. the mayor did not specify the roles the officers had in the scandal, but believes the punishment fits. >> i think most people feel like that, you know, that business has been taken care of. i mean, what else can you do? you know, you're not going to take people out and shoot them or something. >> each officer will get a hearing before their final punishment is decided.

we want to take you back live now to mount vernon, washington this morning. this is where state troopers are expected to provide an update to the mall shooting investigation. >> we'll give you an update on the multiple response team or smart investigation into the shooting. we'll also hear from our coroner, hailey thompson, she'll give you an update on the victim identification, and how we release that information to the families, and again, to the public. and then we'll hear from burlington mayor, steve sexton. we're going to have all questions at the end. thank you. >> good morning, my name is tom mowser, i'm the as assistant chief of burlington. i was assistant commander. on behalf of all law enforcement that have responded to this event, i wish to extend our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of this senseless tragedy. at about 7:00 p.m. last night,

officers were dispatched to an active shooter inside the macy's store at the cascade store. officers from over 26 agencies responded to macy's. we had upwards of 200 officers on scene at one time. the initial officers that arrived on scene entered macy's where they located four deceased females and a fifth male was transported by helicopter to seattle hospital. as officers arrived on scene last night, they were put into hasty search teams, and responded inside the mall, in teams any where from three to five officers. we had officers from four counties, including three separate tactical teams, we had

support teams, we had northwest management incident team, as well as many agencies i can't even start to tell you that were there last night. through this event, the support made our officers response to this a little easier. this was a long, drawn out process last night. as i was told this morning, the mall is 400,000 square feet. the officers, upon arrival, helped escort individuals that were either employees or shoppers in the store outside. as they proceeded to search the entire mall, they located numerous employees and shoppers that had shelter in place inside of individual businesses, and they were escorted out the building as well. all of our victims, witnesses that were present at the time of the shooting were located, transported to local church, where they were reunited with

family members. it, we have learned that the suspect fled the mall. we did not know that throughout the search process. the dedicated officers immediately responded. we had officers that responded that weren't called. we had them come as far away as different parts of snohomish county, but definitely island county and snow county officers, as well as many federal agencies were there as well. all of these officers immediately reported for duty and joined teams. the multi agency response team, smart, has taken charge of this investigation it they are processing the macy's store with the assistance of the washington

state patrol crime lab. as far as the individual elements of this investigation, i'll leta lieutenant chris campbell address those. >> good morning, my name is chris camocc, mt. vernon police department and the response team. so a little background on the team. it is comprised of about 25 investigators from scaget county. the primary role is when serious injury or death involves, a situation involving law enforcement officer, like an officer involved shooting is what we're primarily called out to investigate, however, in these situations -- >> we continue to follow this developing news out of washington state, where a gunman opened fire inside a shopping mall last night. an emotional press conference. once against, the search is on for the gunman.

politicians, and that includes helping edward lee get elected to mayor. he didn't want to comment on the ceremony. former mayor, willie brown, said he'll miss his friend. >> i still dial her number and i'm glad it hasn't been turned off. >> her funeral will be on california street, organizers anticipate a large turnout in san francisco, abc 7 news. happening today, the black lives matter plans to bike 11 miles in support of keith la mott scott and terence crutcher. a tulsa, oklahoma, officer shot and killed crutcher. this starts at mosswood park in oakland. it starts at lath ham square at telegraph. marchers hit the streets in charlotte to protest the shooting of scott. once again, they defied a city wide curfew. also yesterday, that man's wife

>> he better not be dead. i'm not going to come near you. i'm going to record. i'm not going to record. he better be alive. >> for days, protesters and scott's family have called on the police to release officer body cam and dashcam of the shooting. charlotte's police chief arguing the police video doesn't paint a full picture and won't release it until more questions are answered. >> if i were to put it out and it doesn't give you good context, it can inflame the situation. it can make it even worst. >> the family who has seen the police video says it is not clear what was in keith scott's hand, but the police department says scott was armed, and that this image captured after the shooting shows the gun they recovered. >> when you look at the picture they released, it is hard to tell what it is. it could be a gun. but it is not clear. >> from the other angle, this video shows what may be that same object far from the body,

two brothers have been arrested for robbing more than a dozen street vendors in san jose, michael angelo and richard lopez were taken into custody on wednesday. police say they robbed 13 vendors. in some cases, the victims were pistol whipped. >> a scary situation for these victims, something i'm sure that will last with them for a long time. both emotionally and physically. >> police talked to street vendors to offer tips on how to stay safe. the time now is 8:25.

eric thomas, abc 7 news. happening today, you can play poke man with the police. el cerrito police department is hosting a go event to catch them all. they plan to activate nonstop modules at the police station. the block around the station has two poke stops and a gym. there will be free treats and free bike give away. officers want to provide a fun and safe environment for trainers to play in. the event runs from noon to 2:30 at the el cerrito police department. a major blow has been dealt to wells fargo. the city of san francisco says that wells fargo cannot be trusted, and has dropped the financial giant as a partner in a program that connects low income consumers to trustworthy banks. here is abc 7 news reporter leann melendez. >> reporter: when wells fargo first acknowledged the scandal, jose cisneros reached out to the financial giant. his questions went unanswered.

>> how many people from san francisco were affected. have they been notified. how much restitution will they receive. this is simply unacceptable. >> reporter: the city dropped wells fargo as a partner in its bank on san francisco program, meant to serve those low income consumers, afraid of putting their money in a bank. wells fargo reacted by saying it will continue to address the needs of the so-called under banked, and wrote, tlgs disappointing that mr. cisneros has chosen to take an action that will only deter these efforts. for years, wells fargo has pushed existing customers to open more accounts, calling it cross selling. but thousands of wells fargo employees went too far, opening secret accounts, without customers permission in order to boost sales. during a recent senate hearing, the ceo was accused of promoting that culture of greed, when he suggested that all their customers should eight accounts. >> and that's not because you ran the numbers, and found that
