closer. police negotiations continue on the polk street side of city hall with an armed man who himself called 911 before noon to say he had a gun and was threatening to use it. >> it's closed. >> reporter: police telling people to take cover. a chaotic scene as the civic center is evacuated because of this man in his 40s wearing a graen jacket armed with a gun standing in civic center plaza across the street from city hall. >> this person has a semi automatic handgun. he's threatened to use the gun on officers and himself. >> sky 7 was over the massive police presence. s.w.a.t. team and police negotiators on scene trying to convince the man to surrender. >> right now our negotiators are trying to establish a dialogue with the man to end this

and bulldozers now available. a car fire spread to the brush along highway 101 in san francisco today. sky 7 hd was above the burned out car near the 3rd street exit this afternoon. one person inside the vehicle got out safely. firefighters were able to control the brush fire before it got close to homes. to developing news now out of north carolina where a peacefpeace ful protest filled the streets of charlotte. the police chief has just released the video and photos of physical evidence. he announced it wo ud be released this afternoon after determining it would not hinder an ongoing investigation of the shooting. the chief says the video shows quote indisputable evidence that justifies the shooting death of keith lamont scott who was armed with a handgun at the time. abc news is still reviewing the video before releasing it. residents and scott's family

insist he was not armed. abc 7 news was in oakland today as members of the black community came together for a bike ride. organized riding while black to promote unity, peace and healthiness. organizers stress they don't want to label it as a protest or a demonstration. >> it's bike ride. just a bike ride where black people are gathering and being healthy and just being together. >> the group rode through the city. mourners said good-bye to a legendary figure in san francisco's political history. rose pack died last sunday at her home. her public funeral was this morning. friends and family honored the chinatown woman. she was instrument tall in the renovation of chinese hospital and in starting the central

a group of oakland high school football players got a little extra inspiration before last night's game. >> i have come to support y'all because of the same way y'all took a stand and stood with me, i had to stand with y'all. >> colin kaepernick gave a pep talk to the football players. the kids were inspired by cap's protest during the national anthem and decided he wanted to join nem in demonstrating against arable injustice in america. last night they laid on the ground with their hands up.

pittsburgh and 99 in pleasanton. this heat is going to hold on for monday as well. temperatures are going to be very sim on monday to where they end up on sunday. it's for that fact that the national weather service has issued a heat advisory for sunday and morning from 11:00 in the morning until 8:00 in the evening. as we go through the very warm spell the next 48 hours, stay hydrated with water as you go about your day, take frequent breaks in the shade and if you have ac that will help you as well. check on seniors and pets. and if you can, wear lightweight clothing as you go about your day both afternoons. so the seven-day forecast is going to show you hot tomorrow, 90s around the bay, even the coast is approaching 80 degrees. on monday i would not be surprised if a few spots end up one or two degrees warmer monday than they are sunday. and then tuesday you'll notice a little bit of a gradual cooldown

an update on a gun scare and ensuing standoff. this is a live picture from civic center blah za in san francisco. sky 7 was over the scene of that area where for the last few hours police have been negotiating with a man who says he has a gun.

that was the man you just saw there. this live look now, city hall and the area is deserted as police continue to negotiate. cornell bernard was the first reporter on the scene as have the latest for us right now. >> reporter: eric, so far no end in sight. this standoff entering its forty hour. negotiators are happening on the polk street side of city hall with a man armed with a gun threatening to use it. police say that man in his 40s, a san francisco resident wearing a green jacket called 911 himself about noon to tell police that he had a gun and might use it on himself or others. so far no shots have been fired. the incident triggered a massive police presence, sky 7 was overhead and evacuation zone of two blocks was launched from civic center u.n. plaza and everything flanking it. police say they are in no hurry

ago. the fire spread to brush and burned a small area. a city near seattle is on high alert today with a gunman on the loose. he's wanted in the shooting deaths of five people last night at a mall in burlington. >> there are people waking up this morning and their world is changed forever. >> a rifle toting man at a washington state mall. police in burlington, washington say he is the sole person responsible for killing five people in a shooting rampage friday night. >> the suspect entered the mall without a weapon. about ten minutes later entered macy's with a rifle, fired multiple times, struck again, four females ranging in age from a teenager to seniors. also a male was struck and all

four of those were mortly wounded. >> witnesses describe a chaotic sene when the shooting started about 7:00 p.m. local time with people running, unsure of where to seek safety. >> the most chaotic i've seen in a while and the most chaotic that to me that has ever been here. you know, i wouldn't think this would even happen here. so i'm shocked. >> after the attack the man vanished into the night along interstate 5, about an hour north of seattle. the mayor of burlington urging residents to come forward with any leads that could help authorities with their search for the gunman. >> our support goes with them to help them extend the long arm of the law. >> there is no evidence at this time that the i a tack is tied to terrorism. abc 7 news. and right now one more note from north carolina. both hillary clinton and donald trump announced they have

welcome back. among all of the unrest in charlotte, north carolina there's an unlikely friendship between a boy in kindergarten and cops. 5-year-old jayden hooker said he got scared during the protest. he heard about police officers

being injured and asked his mom if she would take them to the police station to give them hugs so in his words they're no so scared. >> i'm happy that the police officers didn't really get hurt. i want wu to stay safe and i don't want anybody to hurt you. >> some of the police officers were moved to tears by the gesture. jayden's mom is proud of her son and that a 5-year-old can teach us a lot about how we should treat each other in times like these. an investment group dropped its offer to buy the land. the east bay times sent a letter to oakland retracting its offer of more than $167 million. the group says their original goal was taxpayer relief. they decided to withdraw because the mayor did not recommend their proposal be forwarded to the city council for consideration. earlier this week, rob any lot also offered $167 million for

60s but you notice temperatures really rise rapidly. by 7:00 we're at 77 and by 1:00 in the arch we're at 85 degrees. hour by hour forecast anytime you want, apt 7 news app. 92 in fremont, union city equally as toasty at 92. so highs across the bay area. it is going to be a warm day from the coast around the bay and inland. 99 the high in antioch, 87 in san francisco. that would tie for the warmest day all year. 90 in san mateo, 94 san jose, 90 in oakland and santa rosa in 95 degrees. if you're going to hit the beach tomorrow, get a little relief, 80 in half moon bay. 82 santa cruz. warm and sunny and we'll have a light land breeze. that's why we're able to warm up quickly along the coast. heat advisory in effect for the entire region 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 in the evening.

monday, the numbers, the heat still hangs on. lots of ients and 90s around the bay and likely we'll see several spots hit the century mark. by thursday, temperatures really tumble quickly and that means we'll see 60s along the cost, lots of 70s around the bay. so if you don't like the heat, there is relief in the accuweather forecast. next seven days for you, hot tomorrow, monday, a couple spots may get one or two degrees warmer. going to be a very warm next 48 hours, slight cooling on tuesday. but on wednesday the fog is going to return and that means we're finally able to cool off quickly. thursday much cooler within and friday and saturday we're below average. i wanted to put chilly in there for october. october will begin one week from today and temperatures go below normal. you're going to need the abc 7 news app to track all of the
