debate reaction from democrats and republicans in the bay area and we start with abc news reporter lilian kim with clinton supporters. >> reporter: there were plenty of cheers at this gathering. clinton volunteers and supporters showed up at the holiday ip -- inn on van ness and they were not disappointed. >> she was fabulous. she was cool and calm and collected and she was the epitomy of a president. >> reporter: the complete opposite of how trump carried himself. >> trump is repeatedly interruptiing her and she continued to make really important points about complex issues. >> reporter: what is more they say unlike her opponent clinton answered the questions. >> even with the tax returns that was a perfect example where she was able to say he is hiding something. there are three or four reasons and he was not able to actually address that. >> reporter: before the debate began many were feeling anxious and the polls show a dead heat.

restructure nafta, the agreement between the u.s., mexico and canada he called a failed accord. >> that has been the message behind his campaign and brought his momentum in the first place of the. >> law and order. we need law and order. >> reporte: trump also called for a national stop and frisk policy to curb kr50eu78 -- crime in the nation's inner cities. he said african-americans and hispanics are the ones who suffer the most from gun violence. they say the candidate was most convincing when talking about fighting terrorism even though she acknowledged that trump never disclosed his strategy to defeat isis. >> he was really strong about the fact that he wanted to be able to stop isis and he could do it quickly. >> reporter: the republican candidate received cheers from the crowd when he reiterated he would reduce taxes as a way to stimulate the economy. ly anne ma 11 -- lyanne melendez, abc7 news. >> the debate was the most tweeted in history.

it focused on donald trump and social media firm analyzed the mention of both candidates during the debate. a graph shows a few swings in sentiment from twitter users. around 6:15 they sparred on the economy and mentions turned more negative for both. then clinton alone saw a huge boost and positive reaction when she went after trump for the birther continue verse see. and both saw positive jumps when debating their temperaments. >> dan: a -- when it ended trump was back on twitter complaining about the debate suggests. he said nothing on e-mails and nothing on the corrupt clinton foundation and nothing on benghazi. u.s. senator elizabeth warren tweeted praise for clinton. she said hillary clinton was prepared for the debate and prepared for the presidency. donald trump prepared lies and conspiracy theories. >> dan: we have a recap of the

big issues. go to our app to enable push alerts and updates on the race for president. >> ama: hundreds of people have been forced from their homes by a wildfire in the santa cruz mountains. abc7 news reporter katie is live with the latest. >> reporter: the latest information we have from cal fire is that 1,000 acres have burned and this fire is just 5 percent contained. it is hard to make out with camera, but we can see bright orange flames burning in the hills. you may be able to make out an orange glow above them in the smoke plume. this erupted after 3:00 this afternoon. we know at least one struck tire has burned. sky 7 captured this video. early reports is the fire started in a house, but it is too soon to know the exact cause of the fire. flames continue to threaten homes, but cal fire is not saying how many homes.

cal fire is trying to slow this down. it was moving at such a fast rate. a lot of equipment, crews north of redding to san luis san luis obispo trying to stop the fire. there are crews from san jose fire department and a spokesperson is describing for us what exactly the firefighters are up against. >> the vegetation is live and susceptible to fast-moving fire expeks plows shiv fire. as it started moving throughout the canyon it moved very fast and up the steep terrain and rough terrain. >> reporter: we saw the smoke swirling into a column like a tornado. and then we watched as the flames were dying down and then flaring back up. at times the firefighters we were standing with estimated the flames reached at least 100 feet high. no injuries to homeowners or firefighters reported at this time. but because of the limited

containment at this hour, they are saying they are looking at an extestimonieded -- extended firefight. live in santa clara county, abc7 news. >> dan: thank you very much. another small wildfire popped up in the santa cruz mountains burning two to three acres near scott's valley. firefighters are arriving and not sure if any homes are threatened at this point. of course, the weather conditions are a key factor, and let's see what it is like on the fire lines. here is meteorologist sandhya patel. sandhya? >> sandhya: dan, right now it is still warm there. 76 degrees near the fire line. it is dry and 17% relative humidity. although it has been coming up slowly, you will notice it is not that humid out there. 17% is pretty dry conditions. the winds are calm and that's the way they will remain. generally speaking light to less than 10 miles an hour over the next 24 hours. from the east bay hillses camera some of the smoke from the fire and obviously here showing up on the sunset. the hues were contributed by

>> dan: we have breaking news. police are investigating a robbery attempt involving a couple in their 70s. police say two men followed them home from the grocery store. when they got out of the car they were confronted by these two. the man was pistol whipped and his wife was shot. she has nonlife-threatening injuries and police are searching for the attackers. >> ama: we just learned a second motorcyclist has died in sonoma county. a 17-year-old from pennsylvania crashed yesterday on his final lap. and he died today. 5* 20-year-old woman from wisconsin also died after crashing in a race yesterday. >> dan: tonight hundreds of people a anxiously waiting to see if their homes will be safe as a wildfire in the santa cruz mountains approaches.

abc7 news reporter is live with more on the evacuations. katie? >> reporter: santa cruz county deputies are patrolling the evacuation area trying to prevent looting. meanwhile, folks who stayed in their homes are watching the glow on the mountain and hoping the winds don't shift and blow the flames in their direction. santa cruz county sheriff deputies warned people on this road. >> it feels like the wind has shifted and that is what would make me nervous. >> that's what the sheriff said is it shifted. >> it is starting to come. >> reporter: mailboxes are tagged and evacuation warnings handed out. she saw the fire about 3:30. >> there was a huge mushroom cloud that was pretty daunting and then watched it get bigger and bigger and bigger. >> reporter: she is waiting to evacuate as are her neighbors, but they are ready to flee at short notice. >> clothes, jewelry, passports, documents.

>> reporter: cal fire says some 300 people have been asked to evacuate in the santa cruz mountains. >> we recommend they leave their homes. we set up an evacuation site for folks to go. >> we were told that it is blowing toward the ocean and it could sweep up here we are really just waiting. >> reporter: now i have three red cross evacuation centers to tell you about. the one mentioned in so cal high school, but there is the jew yish community center and the presbyterian church on dewitt avenue. and i am told about 50 horses have been evacuated from the area as well. live in los gatos, abc7 news. >> dan: cheat tee, thank you very much. katie, thank you very much. >> ama: our temperatures are starting to come down, sandhya? >> dan: it was warm out there today. >> sandhya: it was a record-setting day. the temperatures will come down the middle to latter part of the work day. the temperature will remain high tomorrow. right now i want to show you

live doppler 7 and you will notice the fog is no where to be found. tonight we are retaining some of the heat from earlier in the day. here is a live look from our abc7 news exploratorium camera at pier15, and the record for today tied in san jose at 98 degrees. it was 95 in mountain view and that was a tie for today as well. hot in salinas at the airport. most of you were in the 90s and 100's today. you really have to be in half moon bay to escape the heat. even then it was a warm 77 degrees. the tower camera showing you the bay lights over san francisco and the bay bridge. it is a beautiful night. a warm one though and earlier today if you noticed even if you were running the fans it was blowing warm air around. cooler air is coming, so hang in there. oakland 70 right now. san jose 75 and 57 in half moon bay. a live look from our emeryville camera. visibility is good, mid60s. some of our coolest spots right now, santa rosa, napa

and 72 right now in livermore and a live look from the kgo roof camera. notice really the wind isn't blowing the trees around. the cooling begins at the coast tomorrow, but it is not going to be a major drop in temperature. still hot inland and a spare the air alert up for your tuesday and cooler weather is in store for the end of the workweek. the wor of the air -- the worst of the air quality is in the santa clara valley and that's why we have the spare the air. wednesday moderate air quality, so we will get improvement. here is an hour by hour look at your morning planner. a comfy start. temperatures in 50s and 60s at 5:00 a.m. the sun comes up and the numbers will begin to rise. the warmest weather will be inland. at 9:00 a.m. looking at upper 60s inland. at 11:00 a.m. there will be fog at the coast and inland will be in the 80s already. tomorrow morning when you get going, you don't need to worry about a jacket, but if you are at the coast tomorrow afternoon, you may want to bring it with you for later in the day. temperatures low 50s to the mid60s. clear skies inland and a few patches of fog as you look at the hour by hour forecast at 5:00 a.m. it increases into 8:00 a.m. in

the sonoma county coast and marin and then reaching the san mateo coast on tuesday afternoon. hopefully by wednesday the firefighters will get some higher humidity. obviously we hope they get the fire out and under control by tomorrow. fog will drop the temperatures and the coastal highs in the 70s. that's where you'll feel it. inland highs in the midto upper 90s for your tuesday. so hot. the fire danger as we head into tomorrow. you notice the blues and yellows, moderate to high particularly in the inland valleys. the fire danger will be dropping as you look at the temperature trend. it is hot tomorrow, but notice those temperatures are sliding as we head into the weekend. you will want to track the our by hour forecast to check out the temperature trend and also the potential on monday morning of seeing a few showers. that's a week from today. we may be tracking it with live doppler 7. here is a look at your accu-weather seven-day forecast. you want to download the news app to track the changeses. cooling trend on wednesday.
