track and car pool lanes. only spot with a slow down so far today is westbound 580, tracy to dublin at only 36 minutes and, yesterday, we are close to an hour and that is looking better than 24 hours ago the we have a bart delay and i will get to that next. >> thank you. back to the developing news in santa cruz, hundreds of people trend threatened by the loma fire in the mountains. crews have been on the fire lines all night and it has burned a thousand acres only 5% contained. one structure has been destroyed and, so far, no injuries have been reported. shelters are now open and matt keller? santa clara county. matt? >> natasha, a huge firefight and firefighters are looking for small victories. my photographer is going to push in to where this glow is over the ridge in the santa cruz mountains. half an hour ago it was flaring up and it looks like it has

calmed down a little bit but we know that there are new evacuations and i spoke with the sheriff deputy and low said more evacuations are happening right now and there is a campground up there, as well, and animals are also being evacuated from the area, and check out this video of the flames, tough for firefighters it is dry and it was hot but it cooled off significantly overnight and the terrain is steep and unfamiliar. >> we are fighting fire in unfamiliar terrain, wit it friends danger to us, besides, just, the firefighting aspect. >> crews from across the bay area and the state are already here, and aircraft made big drops trying to slow the fire and a thousand acres this six hours is not good. flames researched up to 100' high and we are still a few hours from day light. evacuations are taking place

right now and the firefight is far from over. thank you, matt. there are three evacuation centers in southern california high school, the jewish community center in los gatos and the presbyterian church in morgan hill on dewitt. >> a wild fire in lake county is 1,500 acres. crews are making progress. it is burning the geyser facility. all road closures have been lifted. >> a firefighter is suffering buns to the leg fighting the brushfire in novato. she is expected to be okay. the fire forces indian valley college to cancel classes tonight the crews have the fire 75% contained. >> this note, san jose city officials want to pass along because of the high temperatures and potential fire risk, alum rock park is closed today. >> account latest developments on all of the wildfires by

in the debate. hillary clinton calling it a major experience. >> trump saying that he thinks he won. i thought it was great. >> a it was the first time hillary clinton and donald trump faced off one-on-one situation with both debate 90 minutes from taxes, to race, to terrorism, and it got personal. >> i know you live your own reality but that is not the fact. >> you have necessity plan. >> i do. >> to more debates at a townhall in st. louis on october 9th for the next debate. an estimated 100 million people were watching last night during the debate and a political science professor at hofstra university said there was a clear winner. >> hillary clinton won the debate. i would not say it was a knock out but she came off as being

likable and her reaction to some of trump's gaffes were well down. and she was clear and more policy focused. all the recovery said undecided voters are likely still undecided. she believes this debate did not change many minds in a strong way. all the record breaking was the most tweeted debate ever. social media analyzeed the candidates during the debate and nearly two-thirds focused on donald trump. a graph shows they sparred on the economy, and it was negative for both, and at 7:00, clinton saw a boost in positive reaction when she went after donald trump on the birther controversy and then both candidates saw positive jumps when debating their temperament. >> still, who do you think won? we want to know, head to our facebook page and let us know.

cases allowed the phone to catch fire even exploding. that is the newest from the live desk. mike? >> now, the accweather forecast with meteorologist mike nicco. >> great information. now, what going on in san jose? it will be murky sky because of the loma fire and the air is healthy at 280 and 17 and it is clear. other than the haze. and 60 degrees. the north bay south industrial bay have the best air quality. inland east bay and the santa clara valley is going to be the big spot during the afternoon hours. the temperatures spread in the north bay is petaluma and rohnert park 52 to san rafael at 56, and tiburon is 73 degrees. across the water, san francisco and san carlos 62, and san ramon is 57 and cupertino right new at 60. here is wall happen today, still, extremely hot inland 80s around the bay, and 70s at the coast, remember, the coast in san francisco temperatures will fall in the

afternoon, only in the 60s tomorrow and 70s and 80s inland and they keep falling thursday and they keep falling through the weekend with a slight chance of rain at the end of the seven-day forecast next. alexis? >> we are doing pretty good on roads, the san mateo bridge, no major issues and they are cruising along on the westbound side. we have issues with mass transit on a "spare the air" day, and it started off with some type of equipment problem on a train and we have not gotten specific word so that is causing 10 minute delay at north concord and martinez and sfo and millbrae direction. normally that is something minor like the brakes are engaging wherein they are not supposed to. or, perhaps, a door is stuck open but we have not been able to verify that. also, if you take the vallejo ferry in san francisco bay ferry the 8:00 a.m. departure it will not happen and that is replaced by bus service and the 5:30 return trip from san francisco, same story there. we will look at drive times next. >> thank you.

in just two weeks, and typhoon is pounding the island's northeast coast making landfall overnight. it packed winds at 115 miles per hour. look at the woman, trying to hold on to her motorcycle. the schools and offices are closed and people in dangerous areas have been evacuated. what was she thinking? not the best mode of transportation. disaster official say the typhoon is expected to cover the entire island, their fourth typhoon of the year. >> now --. "spare the air" again today and our 25th of the summer season, almost as hot today, and cooler marine layer and clouds hit the coast and bear during the afternoon and overnight hours inland, still going to be warmer

and below average highs for all of us this weekend you can see the winds now are calm everywhere even at the coast. inland it is trend withest with poor air quality and mid-to-upper 90s and not the wealth of 100s of yesterday. through the south bay watching the loma smoke, poor air quality with temperatures in the low 80s to 90s, and los gatos at 93 and gilroy at 97 our warm spots. in the north bay we are still above average and the temperature are in the upper 80's to low 90 from sonoma at 87 to santa rosa at none and long the east bay shore, it is still going to be warm but not so hot as yesterday, richmond is 81 and oakland at 85. and hiding over to the peninsula, the sea breeze is kicking in and the temperatures are going to drop in the mid-30s to the 60s at coast this afternoon, and we are in the my 80s on the bay side. and the same thing for san francisco. the 70s are going to happen as we get to the noon hour, and then the temperatures are going to fall during the afternoon

hours. and my seven-day forecast shows, what you are going to see are temperatures that can be anywhere from 10 to 20 degrees cooler by friday and we keep cooling through monday with a slight chance of a sprinkle. election? >> we are okay on the roads and looking outside at the bay bridge toll plaza, still wide on if you are about to grab the keys and go, you are good the next 10 to 15 minutes and the loma fire c.h.p. has road closures in affect, and mount bache at loma prieta, at highland, it is close to each other off to the east of highway 17, and then mount madonna, at people line, that is a perimeter to avoid. and we heard the report from matt keller and they set up more evacuations and road closures. that is a fluid situation. a check of the drive times, westbound 580 tracy to dublin is not terrible and 41 minutes and no issues on westbound 4 and san rafael to san francisco is 19 minutes. mass transit is next.

>> thanks. a palo alto company is underfire now accused of discriminating against asian people in hire practices. the united states department of labor filed a lawsuit against the company after an investigation of a software company. this is video from the company, the average found that they favored white apply caps over asian in the hiring process. in a statement they responded to the suit and i quote, "despite repeated efforts to highlight the results of our hiring practices, the d labor relies on a narrow and flawed analysis related to three job descriptions of 2010 and 2011." >> the san francisco board of education could vote today to prohibit its members from asking school district worker for political contributions. according to the "san francisco examiner" this is days after the ethics committee informally cleared a school board member of wrongdoing. she is running for have supervisor and solicited donations from district employees. under local campaign laws

officials and employees can not solicit political contributions from other employees. she con ends she is not an employee of the city but of the state and the law does not apply. >> the san francisco bay area is considered one of several sinking cities around the world. now, five city agencies along with the bay conservation and development commission are teaming up to do something. they are developing a plan to deal with rising sea levels in the coming decade. one idea is to build a barrier at the mouth of mission creek at at&t park. the "san francisco chronicle" obtained this design, part of a new study, and another idea is to turn a mission creek into a fresh water lake with a levee closing the connection to san francisco bay. officials say the goal is to help the public understand what protecting it from sea level rise could look like one day. >> if you live in the east bay you could start noticing a change in the state of the tap water. do not worry, the drug water is

tuesday, september 27. i am regular. >> i am natasha zouves. we get to weather and traffic but we want to start with a fire that is still burning in the santa cruz county. >> we have word that new evacuations are underway as the loma fire rages on. our reporter has the latest on the firefight and the people that need to get out. matt? >> a lot of urgency in the santa cruz mountains in the past hour or so, we have new evacuations and i talked with the sheriff deputy here on the scene and he has been feeding me new information. he said they are up there now and they are getting people out right now. they are going door to door and using the p.a. system to let people know that the fire is there. the smoke is getting thick up there, as well, and they are trying to get all of people out of the area, and they are trying to get the horses out of the area, the large animal evacuation team is here at scene, as well. here are the latest numbers a thousand acres burned, it is 5%

contained and 300 homes have been evacuated and one structure was destroyed. that number is going up this morning. firefighters are coming in from across the bay area and across the state. >> the santa clara sheriff department came with the deputies and went door to due, strongly encouraging the residents to pack up and get stuff out of way to protect themselves and later the fire began moving faster and involving move acreage. >> the conditions are not good for firefighters. they say that it is going to be a challenge. they are dealing with the extremely hot temperatures during the day and they have drought conditions and unfamiliar terrain. we the sheriff deputy told me that last night they went around and said, be ready to go just in case and now they are saying, get out. the fire is there and it is important that everyone leave that area. i am matt keller. >> certainly hoping they are

safe. >> as we get word this morning of the new evacuations, hundreds of people are already out of their homes waiting to see in their property is safe. santa cruz county sheriff deputies warn people about evacuation notices and some are ready to leave at a moment's notice, packing clothes, passports and other important documents. >> this was a huge mushroom cloud. it was daunting. and i watched it get bigger and bigger and i heard helicopters and planes and that made me feel better. >> we were told it was blowing toward the ocean and it could reach us. we are waiting. >> four are say at least one structure has been damaged and we do not know in it was someone's home or an outing. >> for evacuees would want to get large animals out of the way, can you take horses to the show grounds in santa cruz or the santa cruz county fairgrounds in watsonville and if you have other animals, call

ahead to see in they can take them. >> crews made quick work after small fire in scots valley north of highway 17 starting at a home last night. it spread to nine acres before they were able to knock it down. firefighters are still working to contain another major fire this morning in sonoma county, which has burned 1,500 acres east of cloverdale at 45% contained. right now all evacuations for that have been lifted. we are anxious to see what the weather is going to bring today for the crews on the fire lines. >> now to meteorologist mike nicco and what they are facing >> the lack of winds, yesterday, that makes makes the atmosphere conducive to this situation. overnight the temperatures were up but it depend on the elevation up at 2,500' and 78 degrees with 13% humidity. in scots valley at 574' it is 56

degrees. there is a difference on the terrain. the winds are light and variable that mushroom cloud nature of the smoke movement will continue today. today, the hottest day for the firefighters, at 90 but, to, 75. by the weekend, in the 60s, and the winds are going to pickup with the cooler temperatures. it is a catch 22. >> we have road closures because of the fire and c.h.p. has all local roads, no main highways or highway 17 or 151 and 101 not affected. mount bache at highland and at loma prieta they are close to each other east of the summit and mount madonna at pole line road and there are new evacuations to the west of morgan hill where we are getting the latest information from matt keller. avoid this entire area in possible. you want to let emergency crews do their work. i lack at mass transit in a few.

still shot, she is going to be okay, her injuries are not life threatening but the two hen got away although police set up a perimeter. it appear they got an on foot and they ran away. another thing on the location, we are north of highway 24, considered an easy escape route, and highway 24 in and out orinda and we are him two miles down the road from the highway. little corner of orinda, and they managed to pull this off. police are still looking for the men. >> it was a fiery debate in a tight race, and we her it last night here on abc7, hillary clinton had donald trump on the defense, over his temperament, comments on race and women, and his refusal to release his taxes. trump went after clinton for plans to fight isis and the e-mail controversy, as well. this morning as you can imagine the spin is well underway and
