i'm credits sten sze in for ama daetz. >> i'm dan ashley. police in union city are going door-to-door looking for a gunman and maybe gunmen and the weapon. >> this after shots were fired at the football game at james logan high school. here is sergio with the details. >> reporter: union city police officers are involved in what we believe was an incident of shots fired at james logan high school which is about a couple blocks away. there are still police officers here on the street. a little while ago there was neighbors who told us that a person jumped into the backyard of that home there right on the corner where they just put up some police tape. we understand that there may have been a few people involved in what may have been shots fired. you can hear the police officers right now. they are clearing out the weapons from the search that was going on for a few minutes. we also did see that there was someone who was taken into

that area. > katie is live in berkeley with a look at the damage. >> reporter: i can tell you the church is still too unstable and too dangerous at this point for fire investigators to get inside. i can show you this wall that you are looking at, it is unstable. there is no roof attached to it to hold it there. and they are afraid that it could collapse. >> the fire is tearing through the first congregational church of berkeley. witnesses started spotting the flames this afternoon. >> it was a chimney fire at the base of the chimney. >> a roof collapse lead to a may day call for one firefighter who escaped from a window. >> it was terrifying. you never want to hear that.

stay at a vegetation fire throughout the night because of the high wind forecast. the fire is now 75% contained and brock out near marin valley drive. flames threatened several homes and called off the shelter in place warning mid-afternoon. expect scattered showers and maybe even some thunder this weekend. here is meteorologist sandhya patel and live doppler 7. sandhya? >> sandhya: dan, this will be a welcome sight. let's show you live doppler 7. this system will dive sow ward and when it does it well bring in showers for this upcoming weekend. the extra moisture and perhaps some wet weather may help those firefighters in the san thank you cruz -- in the santa cruz mountains. it will be gusting to 17 miles an hour. i'll have the hour by hour time line of when you can expect the showers and what part of your weekend is going to be wet coming up. kristen?

>> thank you. despite the weather worries the firefighters are making progress. the fire is now 50% contained, but now a dozen homes have been destroyed. abc7 news reporter joins us live near the front lines. >> it has burned 4300-acres, but at this point there is not much chance it will grow that way. the problem is the wind and the threat of flying embers finding new fuel in sparking a new fire even without visible flames the loma fire poses a serious danger. >> the wind is a huge challenge. >> not only are strong wind goes in the overnight forecast, cal fire says the wind is coming from a new direction. >> it is going to challenge a part of our fire containment line that hasn't seen a lot of wind, a lot of embers. >> reporter: to prepare firefighters have been working to secure those lines as crews continue to comb through the

smoldering aftermath of the fire. >> finding hotspots, digging them up, putting water on them. i think we are getting the upper hand on it. >> reporter: scattered throughout the mountains, homes untouched by fire and the remains of those destroyed. a dozen so far. >> you do your best effort to protect all homes. at the same time it is not worth anyone's life. >> reporter: there is marijuana being grown in the santa cruz mountains. plants like these revealed by the fire. some are legal and many are not. a source tells abc7 news, that eradication teams were sent to the fire. the sheriff's office confirms it has initiated a marijuana operation. abc7 news. >> dan: now, only the abc7 news eye team has learned the loma fire was leakily sparked at the site of a marijuana farm and the owner has ties to a medical marijuana dispense rein san thank you cruz. >> dan noyes has the report

you will only see on abc7 news. >> the man at the center of a marijuana dispense reowns the farm where the loma fire may have begun. he issued a statement through his attorney only to the abc7 eye team. >> to our knowledge nothing illegal was going on on the property, no butane, no firearms, no meth lab and no illegal marijuana grow. >> reporter: he would not tell me if the owner was running a legal marijuana farm. he said they all want answers about what sparked the blaze. >> we are actively trying to find out, actively investigating and cooperating however we can. >> reporter: new lawen, to meant and -- new law enforcement sourceses say they are concentrating on that farm as the origin of the fire. neighbors identified the farm as a marijuana grow. today more nay -- more neighbors are speaking out. they don't want you to know their faces or names. many marijuana farms have popped up the past few years. >> the things that bother us

the second video shows another angle of the confrontation taken by a witness. police say olango .ed -- pointed a vape smoking device at them and then he was fatally shot. police in south carolina say they will release full body and dashboard cameras of keith scott. the videos will first be viewed by scott's family next week. 43-year-old scott was shot and killed by an officer on september 20th. police say he was armed with a handgun. scott's family disputes that. the san jose shark's forward was mono knew cleo sis. he will not be able to play in any nhl or ahl games for approximately four weeks. symptoms of mono are swole len lymph nodes and headache. it can be spread through coughing. one of the final steps to merge american airlines and u.s. airways is happening this weekend. the come beaned carrier hopes

a disgruntled apple customer uh paryntly unhappy with his customer support experience went on a destructive rampage. it happened in france. look at that. the rid io is showing the man smashing iphone, imacs and a mac book air with what appears to be a bocce ball. he spoke directly to the camera saying apple refused to give him his money back. the smashing went on for a full minute before security finally took him out of the store. the damage was estimated at $14,000. >> dan: two words. anger management.

reason? >> the city she was kidnapped in is right at the border of kazakhstan where kidnappings are very common and authorities do say this was a bridal kidnapping, which is when a man that has a crush on a younger girl or on a girl kidnaps her to then force her to marry him. this video did help locate the three people involved. 40-year-old man, 24-year-old man, 31-year-old woman. all three of them have been arrested and were charged with the kidnapping of a minor. the girl was reunited with her family. fortunately, there was somewhat of a happy ending to the story. >> this episode he's calling "beyond the tide." he's in a tide pool in los angeles, california, and look what he's trying to catch. >> look at that! >> oh.
