>> live where you live, this is abc7 news. >> now at 11:00, a serial arsonist in the east bay. firefighters are searching for the person who set more than a dozen fires. good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm ama daetz. >> dan: i'm dan ashley. 16 fires have broken out in fremont since july. >> ama: they were in the warm springs district. you can see the location on the map. >> dan: katie is live with the latest on this. katie? >> reporter: dan and ama, the fremont fire department says the situation is escalating because one of the more recent fires could have set a home on fire. the fire departent and the police department are investigating and they want to find this arsonist before someone gets hurt. she was at home when someone started banging on her door. >> is anyone in your home? i said no, it is just me.

she said okay because your house is on fire. >> reporter: they jumped into action grabbing a garden hose. >> they were spraying in as we spread out. >> reporter: it spread from bushes on to the feps and into the trees in the backyard. the flames licking at the deck and patio. it is one of 15 fires set by a serial arsonist since mid-july. the most recent this past sunday. >> the piers have been similar in nature and they feel like they are fairly confident it has been the same person and it is one person. >> reporter: trees, bushes, trashcans and dumpsters were targeted. most of the fires set on the weekend between midnight and 5:00 a.m. jay they are getting larger and putting the community more at risk which is why we want to get to the bottom of it. >> reporter: the division chief diane henry says anyone should call 9-1-1 if they see or hear anything suspicious at night. they are hoping for an arrest. >> it scares me and angers me how someone could do something like that. everyone loves fremont.

>> dan: katie is live with the details of the report and the homeowners doubting its findings katie. >> reporter: dan and ama, the developer's report causes more concern for him. he points to the section that has a reported stressed and cracked foundation. >> reporter: the millenium tower is tipping and leaning. it is top of mind for home openers. >> a lot of people are losing sleep over it. >> reporter: the developers released a report today claiming the tower is seismically safe despite the foundation settling. >> it is safe and seismically sound and the structural integrity has not been compromised. >> they blame the removal of ground water. >> they have dropped the water table by more than 20 feet at this point. >> they shouldn't be putting the safety of homeowners here in peril while they have the squall between the two of them over who is responsible.

125 miles an hour. that's part of the problem and obviously the storm is dangerous and here is a look at the watches and the warnings that exend up toward the florida coastline. here is the forecast from matthew and they will move toward and as we head into the wednesday afternoon and evening time period it is near the bahamas. it is near the coastline. it is a category four storm. it intensities and then weakens by friday afternoon. it is skirting the carolina coast with 115-mile an hour wind. the wind is an issue. as it moves away on saturday it is still pushing up paryl legal along -- parallel going into sunday. if you have family or friends there this is a dangerus storm. we will keep you posted.
