in san jose, abc7 news. flo douglas was 88 years old. firefighters joined forces to put out a vegetation fire this afternoon. this is a picture from the alcanta county sheriff's office. they attacked the fire from the air. the units worked to protect local businesses next to the blaze. >> kaiser permanency in fremont offered drive through flu shots. we were there as dozens of people got vaccinated in their vehicles. they had to roll down the windows, open questions and roll up their sleeves. >> it was so easy. i did it, because the flu is terrible, debilitates if you get it. i want to make sure that with work and family we're covered so i don't get the flu.

made it to shore. one child remains in critical condition. sadness far family in san jose. this 88-year-old woman flo douglas died nearly a month after being severely beaten during a home invasion robbery. they must decide if the man suspected of beating and robbing her must face murder charges. police raced for a suspected gunman after two police officers were killed. one of them was the mother of a 4 month old daughter. one was the father of eight. a third officer survived. a s.w.a.t. team has surrounded a house where a suspected gunman may be hiding. donald trump is insisting he's staying in the race for the white house. this follows lewd comments he made of women more than a month ago. some gop backers say they can no longer support trump. >> reporter: gop withdrawal. more and more republicans

through the carolinas. >> and a curfew is in effect there overnight as flooding remains a major concern. back here at joan's restaurant, you can see just how powerful the water was. ripping off this part of the building and tearing it all the way over there, nearly 80 feet away. m marci gonzalez, abc news. > drew is tracking hurricane matthew. >> it's right off the coast of north carolina. it's just been dumping inches of rain not only this north carolina but such of the east coast. that's been the biggest issue. over a foot of rain in some spots. still a category one storm. winds, 75 miles per hour. earlier this morning matthew did make land fall. it made it about 40 miles just away north from charleston. winds about 75 miles per hour. and brought really serious flooding to the region as it did so. the latest track on matthew does have great news.

it takes it away from the coast and it has it weakening. tomorrow 65 miles per hour wind moving away from hurricane status and weakening into monday night. matthew looks to get away from the united states in the next 24 hours. >> some estimates put the death toll at 900 and rising as hurricane matthew swept across haiti. the winds knocked out many of the roads and bridges on the southern western tip of the island. the region is the bread basket of haiti, so there could be a ripple effect. the u.s. military is dropping relief supplies to thousands of people left homeless by the storm a bald eagle is recovering after a highway mishap in florida. you can see where the eagle landed after it flew in front of a man's car. this deputies and firefighters worked to dislodge the eagle from the car's grill. a wildlife sanctuary is now caring for the eagle. still ahead on abc7 news at
