>> good morning, everyone, i'm chris nguyen. lisa argen is here with the weather. >> good morning. the fog has returned. right around the golden gate bridge, close to the coast where visibility is still good but right on the bridge you may run into a little bit of fog there so take it slow. nine mile visibility over all. it's 48 in novato. today low clouds and fog banked up along the shoreline and cooling it off. 60s and 70s across the bay. still holding on to the 80s. above average today. temperatures come down. we are talking several days of rain coming up in the seven-day

outlook. chris. >> lisa, thank you. two children are in critical condition this morning after a terrifying scene in the san francisco bay. a yacht capsized with 30 people on board right after the blue angels finished their show for fleet week. abc7's lisa amin gulezian has more. >> oh, my god! >> reporter: this is go pro video taken moments catch the motorboat went over. those on board the nearby fishing boat, happy days, rushed to help. >> i was on the side and then it flipped all the way over. and then while people were clinging to the hole, and then the stern of the boat went down. >> people were in the water already and the boat was going down. people up screaming. >> crewmembers threw life jackets to those in the water. >> there's a baby in the water. there's a baby needing cpr! >> reporter: it turned out the child needing cpr was just five years old and was trapped under the boat with his party. >> it was a rescue by somebody

on the boat that went down to get the people out. >> another passenger climbed on top of the boat to help with the child, who were unconscious. there was a total of three kids on board. watching them struggle really left an impact on this long-time sailor. >> there were so many kids on the bow. that sort of got to me. >> there were 27 adults on board. they were cold, wet. >> i'm fine. >> but for the most part unharmed. five adults and all three children were taken to the hospital. two children, including the one requiring cpr, are in critical condition. in san francisco, lisa amin gulezian, abc7 news. and we sent out a push alert right after the rescue and. to stay on top of this story, be sure to download our abc7 news app and enable push alerts. palm street police officers escorted the caskets of two colleagues to a waiting hearse.

the suspect is now in custody. police arrested an unidentified man. the two officers were shot and killed while trying to assist with k a family disturbance. >> and police are broken. if there's ever a time to pray for our country's pd, it's now. >> it was a simply family disturbance, and he elected to open fire on the field of guardians in this city. >> a third officer was shot and wounded but will survive. vega was planning to retire in december and the other officer just returned to duty following the birth of a daughter. look what happened in the east bay. this s.u.v. crashed into a house in oakland. it happened off the 880 high street exit. it's apparently the wall into the home's kitchen you see there. police did stay at the scene, but the man was hospitalized. no word on his condition. apparently this is the second time a car has crashed into the

home in the past few months >> the second presidential debate are set for tonight and the stakes are just higher than just a few days ago. experts say that donald trump has to somehow recover from the devastating audio tapes that have him degrading women. and for hillary clinton it's about not making any mistakes. we does more from st. louis. >> it's the show down in st. louis. it could be make-or-break for donald trump after a bombshell friday night. a graphic recording from 2105 first reported by the washington post. caught on a hot mike with tv host billy bush talking about an attempt to sleep with a married room. >> i moved on her, and i failed. i'll admit it. she was married. >> he later brags that his status as a celebrity gives him a free pass to grope women. >> grab them by the [bleep]. >> hillary clinton tweeted this is horrific. we cannot allow this man to become president.

between $4 billion and $6 billion. meanwhile, haiti has become the definition of misery. the death count from hurricane matthew now stands at almost 900, including 13 killed by cholera and the disease is spreading. that number will likely rise as more information comes in from areas of the island nation that's been cutoff. matthew's winds ripped off the roofs of shacks and palm trees on its way to the island. and airlines are facing delays. they have ground bad 4500 flight since wednesday. airports in florida have started to reopen. you can see flight aware's misery map here with green showing on-time flights and red indicating where you are likely to be delayed or have your flight cancelled. locally airlines cancelled two flights between sfo and florida yesterday. there are no cancellations this morning, so that's good news. meteorologist lisa argen is tracking where matthew is right now. >> hey, chris. no longer a hurricane, but

interestingly enough we are going to review four landfalls here from haiti, jamaica, the bahamas and finally in charleston. this is how it looked when it blasted through the carolinas as a category 2. we are looking at it continuing as a post tram -- tropical system. there is five to six-foot storm surge around of the sounds of north carolina. you see the extent of the rain up through boston and new york city. the wind gusts 30 miles an hour for new york city and it's reaching a little further north into coastal new england later on today than what was expect the. so very interesting track of matthew, and we are still feeling the effects of it on the eastern seaboard. chris. >> lisa, thank you. an apparent accidental shooted landed a petaluma child in the hospital. there was a report after child being shot inside a home last night. child was rushed to santa rosa

memorial hospital and then flown to children's hospital in oakland. doctors say the child is expected to survive. as of now the investigators say they have no plans to make any arrests. a car with two people inside plunged into the water off treasure island. firefighters were called to the scene. police say the driver was speeding when she lost control of her mercedes. the vehicle went into a four feet of water near fourth street and avenue inn around 9:00 p.m. driver and passenger managed to walk away and were taken to the hospital. neither appeared to have serious injuries. police say the driver will be charged with drunk driving. fleet week festivities continue today after a night of fireworks. the airshow begins at noon and the blue angels take center stage at 3:00 p.m. that was the scene yesterday. the sound of jet engines buzzed the marina green and other spots along the city's waterfront. america's top naval i have

we are expecting warmer conditions throughout the bay area. lisa returns with the hour by hour forecast coming up. relatives are grieving and neighbors are outraged after an elderly south bay woman passed aid way yesterday weeks after she was the victim of a home innovation robbery. ms. flo had had been there for months. >> relatives of coping with the loss of their beloved mate try arc, lovingly no one as ms. flo. >> some are crushed and others are angry she was subject to such a brutal beating and basically murdered. >> ms. flo succumbed to her injuries of a fighting to her life for weeks. she was beaten during a home innovation robbery on september 12th. a 19-year-old, who police say lived in the same neighborhood, was arrested for the crime and now facing a new charge. >> we definitely support him being charged with murder.

hour forecast to show the fog continuing to try to cozy up to the coast, stay there. and then it's the high clouds that will be infiltrating the sky. you may have seen a few of those yesterday. continuing today. and with the sea breeze, it be cooler out there today for fleet week. numbers right around 70 degrees at 2:00. low 70s with that sea breeze. so it should be pretty nice. the italian heritage parade today, in the low 70s, as well, with the high clouds. looking at a pretty nice afternoon today but we will go into a dry several days until thursday we have a 40% chance of rain. friday it increases. going through this outlook you will notice by thursday there is increased chances of rain. it could sink even further south, helping the folks around monterey with the fires. so that that would be some goods for sure. highs around the bay ranging from the upper 60s today. it was 75, about 76 yesterday in half moon bay.

hi, lisa. >> good morning, chris. we are clear with 8 mile-an-hour wind. the wind is bringing in a little fog alongo the coast. 54 in the city, 55 in oakland be and 5ed in san jose -- 59 san jose and look at the view from the santa rosa tower. 58 in concord. livermore checking in at 54. low clouds and fog along the coast today. sea breeze throughout the afternoon. high clouds in the skies. partly to mostly sunny today. 70s and 80s. no more 90s to speak of. we will talk about a cooler holiday for columbus day coming up. >> lisa, thank you. developing news. a pleasant day in the san francisco bay watching the blue angels turned into panic as a yacht with 30 people onboard capsized, leaving two children and 27 adults in the water. a five-year-old boy was trapped under the yacht, along with his dad. those onboard the nearby fishing

boat "happy day" rushed to help. >> i was on the side and then it flipped all the way over. as people were clinging to the hull and the stern of the boat, the back of it went down. >> the good news about the three children in the hospital, firefighters say they hopefully will all recover. this incident is now being investigated by the u.s. coast guard and the san francisco police department. they want the to know how a boat sunk so quickly with so many people on board. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana brings us the story. >> according to the coast guard, the boat was a 34-foot motor vessel. authorities are now trying to figure out what went i don't think. but the captain of the blue star, one of the civilian boats that came to help, is raising questions about the safety of the boat. >> you know, i saw a lot of what appeared to be kids to me. i don't know what their ages were. but i never saw anybody wearing a life jacket. >> one of the people aboard the

blue star shot these pictures of the rescue effort. investigators say they don't know if everyone aboard was wearing a life jacket. >> we have not determined at this time what was involved, who was wearing what. that's still under investigation. >> this turned out to be a massive rescue effort with multiple boats responding within of the 30 people who went into the water, three children were sent to general hospital. one, a five-year-old, was pulled inside the cabin of the inc. ising boat and neededly given cpr by another passenger. he was taken to general hospital in critical condition. five adult passengers were rushed to area hospitals just as a precaution. emergency crews are praising the efforts of rescue teams and witnesses who sprung into action. >> this could be been really, really catastrophic. we had 30 people in the water with more boat traffic on the water than just about any other day of the year. >> all 30 people who went into the water survived. abc7 news. developing news outs of palm

springs where police have taken into custody a man suspected of shooting and killing two officers. the officers, jose vaga, and leslie were killed while talking to a man involved in a family dispute. authorities say the man was standing inside his front door when he opened fire. it took nearly twelve hours for officers to talk the suspect into surrendering. his name has not been released. palm springs, as you can imagine, is a city engulfed in grief. officers walked the caskets of their colleagues out to the hearse for a trip to the coroner's office. many people said they just needed to do something to show their sympathy with the department. vagua, 63, was a 35-year veteran of the force who was planning to retire in december. the 27-year-old had just returned to active duty after giving birth to a daughter.

5:33 is our time. hurricane matthew is no more. it's been downgraded to a tropical storm. but that meaning in. it's caused roads along the coast to collapse. 31 people have died as a result of matthew and damage could rise into the billions. the storm has sustained winds of 75 miles an hour. matthew has flooded homes and businesses as far as 100 miles inland. turning to "your voice, your votes." presidential debate number two is set tonight in st. louis. the person in the crosshairs is donald trump. leaked audio tapes showing him talking lewd to women. and as for prepping to the debate, he said that's for people who can't handle the exhausting pace of a campaign. tonight's debate is a town hall format with half of the

questions coming from the audience. hillary clinton's campaign also faces questions following the release of hacked e-mails by wikileaks. messages revealed some of what clinton said during private speeches given to wall street executives. she shared how she favored open trade and open borders. donald trump opposes those policies. she has refused to release any transcripts of some of her speeches. there's a lot to cover tonight in the second presidential debate in st. louis. abc's martha raddatz will comoderate the debate between trump and clinton. we will televise the entire debate. it begins at 6:00 tonight. you can also stream it on the abc7 news app. the presidential rate will be front and center. former new york city mayor and most vocal supporter, rudy giuliani, will engage in banter with george stephanopoulos. it airs right here on abc7 at

8:00. police made an arrest in the attempted kidnapping of a five-year-old friday afternoon. the man, age 39, a transient from berkeley, is accused of trying to grab the child who was with a family member. it happened at 53rd street and san pablo avenue. the relative began screaming for help and the suspect fled the scene. the suspect faces charges of kidnapping, child endangerment and a probation violation. he was arrested previously for sexual assault. train service on the long island railroad has been suspended after a commuter derailed after hitting a work train on the tracks. cell phone from inside one of the train's cars shows passengers looking out trying to see what happened. the first train derailed shortly after 6:00 our time last night. about 20 people were hit, but none seriously. about 20 people were are on the train when it crashed the maker of epipen has agreed to pay a

>> fleece week and other festivities have attracted hundreds of thousands of people in san francisco this weekend. police say they have extra officers on duty. while people looked up to the sky he is blue angels buzzings over places like the marina green, the sfpd focused on keeping it peaceful, safe and enjoyable. on friday night police received reports of a man with a gun inside a hotel at fishermen's wharf. dozens of officers took part in the report. the gun turned out to be a toy but police took it very seriously until they determined there was no danger a bald eagle is recovering after surviving a highway mishap near jacksonville florida. you can see where it landed after it flew in front of a

throughout the afternoon today and tomorrow. dangerous surf from the sonoma county coast all the way down to monterey. so the national weather service has put this alert out for large breakers and strong rip currents. hour by hour you will notice that the fog is still staying along the shoreline here. so 10:00 in the morning we have sunny skies. but then the high clouds begin to increase throughout the afternoon. so that will allow for just a little bit in terms of cooler conditions. but really it's the sea breeze that we count on for that. highs today in the low 70s in the city. so pretty nice. more typical. actually the average high is 70 so it's what it should be for this time of year. in the south bay numbers still very warm. 87 san jose, 84 sunnyvale, milpitas on the peninsula. low 80s return, a little cooler but still above average for redwood city. yesterday you were well into the 80s. 83 mountain view. 68 in the sunset and north bay.
