inland bay, but on the coast a few high clouds to speak of. chris? two children are in critical condition this morning after a terrifying scene in the san francisco bay. a yacht capsized with 30 people on board yesterday right after the blue angels finished their show. abc 7 news reporter has more on the investigation underway. >> reporter: this is gopro video taken just moments after the motorboat called calisi went over. those on board the nearby fishing boat happy days went to help. >> it flipped all the way over and a lot of people were clinging to the hull, and the bow of the boat, went down. >> people were screaming. >> reporter: crew members threw life jackets to those in the water. >> there is a baby needing cpr! >> reporter: it turned out the child needing cpr was five years old and was trapped under the boat with his father.

>> there was a rescue made by somebody on the boat that went down and helped get those people out. >> reporter: you can see another passenger also climbed on top of the boat to help with the child who was unconscious. there were a total of three kids on board. watching them struggle really left an impact on this long-time sailor. >> this one is unique with so many kids on the boat. that's what really got to me. >> reporter: there were 27 adults on board the calisi. they were cold, wet -- >> everybody okay? >> reporter: -- and for the most part unharmed. five adul five children and two adults were taken to the hospital. two of the children are in critical condition. >> we sent out a post alert right after the rescue began. to keep up to date on this story, download our app and click on push alerts. a man is suspended of shooting and killing two police

officers. this was the scene as members of the department escorted their caskets to a waiting hearse. the arrest was made just before 1:00 a.m. following a 12-hour standoff. the officers were shot while trying to assist with a family disturbance. >> employees are broken. if there's ever a time to pray, it's now. >> it was a simple family disturbance, and he elected to open fire on a field of guardians in this city. >> a third officer was shot and wounded but is expected to survive. vega was to retire in december. one had just returned after the birth of a daughter. take a look at what happened in the east bay. this suv crashed right into a house on oakland. that's apparently the wall into a home's kitchen that you see

right there. police say the driver did stay at the scene and no one was seriously injured. apparently this is the second time a car has crashed into that home in the past few months. the second presidential debate is set for tonight and the stakes are much higher than just a few days ago. experts say donald trump has to somehow recover from those devastating audio tapes that have him degrading women. for hillary clinton, it's about not making any mistakes. karen traverse has more from st. louis. >> reporter: it could be make or break for donald trump after a bombshell saturday night. the billionaire caught on a live mic talking about hitting on a woman. trump later brag that his status as a celebrity gives him a free pass to grope women.

there is a water boil advisory right now. hopefully we'll be able to lift that at the end of the week. >> insurance losses from the storm are expected to run between 4 and $6 billion. meanwhile, haiti has become the definition of misery. the death count from matthew stands at almost 900, including 13 killed by cholera. the disease is spreading. that number will likely rise as more numbers come from the area of the nation that were cut off. mathew ripped off the tin roofs of shacks and knocked over palm trees. according to flightaware.com, airlines have grounded about 4500 flights since wednesday. airports in florida have started to reopen. you can see flightaware's misery map with green showing on-time flights and red showing where you're likely to be delayed or have your flight canceled. locally they canceled two flights between sfo and florida

yesterday. there are no cancellations this morning. lisa is tracking it right now. hi, lisa. >> hi, chris. this hurricane lasted nine and a half days, and it was still lashing north carolina with 90-mile-an-hour winds, though it is still a post-tropical system. it's lost its hurricane statistics, but you can see it's continuing to move out to sea. but look where it's impacting. we're off the coast of virginia and washington, d.c., and to the south and west is where we have that fresh water flooding. down to the south in sasavannah they picked up 17.5 inches of rain. a flood warning continues for parts of raleigh, which is over two hours from the coast, and we're looking at a wind advisory for charlotte. so this is creating a lot of havoc well inland. that storm surge this morning is five to six feet and still looking at a tropical storm warning for the winds right along the shoreline. this will continue to bring rain to southern new england today. we'll talk about a cooling trend in just a few minutes.

chris? an apparent accidental shooting has land aid pet led a child in the hospital. the child was rushed to memorial hospital and then flown to children's hospital in oakland. doctors say the child is expected to survive. as of right now, investigators say they have no plans to make any arrests. a car with two people inside plunged into the water off treasure island. firefighters and the coast guard were called to the scene last night. police say the driver was speeding when she lost control of her mercedes. the vehicle went into about four feet of water near third street and avenue n at around 9:00 p.m. the driver and her passenger managed to walk away and were taken to the hospital. neither appeared to have serious injuries. police say the driver will be charged with drunk driving. fleet week continues today after a night of fireworks. the air show begins at noon, and the blue angels take center stage at 3:00 p.m.

>> reporter: she was recovering from her injuries after a home invasion robbery on september 12. 19-year-old zachary cuen who police say lived in the same neighborhood was arrested for the crime, now facing a new charge. >> we definitely support him being charged of murder. it will be up to the district attorney to amend those charges, but we're pushing for murder. >> miss flo was a pillar in her church and her community. candles are lit and a sign still hangs on her home, wishing her a speedy recovery. >> we had a lot of hope. we definitely had a lot of hope. >> reporter: chris lives next door. >> she always had a smile, always had a wave. >> reporter: even at 88, miss flo never stopped helping others and never stopped working as a hairstylist. >> even the day she was attacked, she was still doing hair in her home. she had worked her whole life. to be snatched and robbed of the independence of her life is just

waking up to fog-free conditions and the winds are calm, so it feels a lot like yesterday. but changes will be occurring throughout the day today beginning with the low clouds and fog banking up. live doppler 7 showing we're fog free and the sea breeze is kicking up. a couple systems dropping down from the gulf of alaska will aid in our cooling trend and bit end of the week, we will get our heads wet with two different systems headed our way. here's a look at emoryville. san jose, oakland at 65. 70s in napa it was 75 yesterday, and looks a little hazy. you can see a few patches of fog but the air quality is better today. 58 in santa rosa, 63 in napa, 62 by the delta and livermore just

reaching the upper 80s yesterday. this looks like a beautiful shot and it should be a nice, warm day, but the last one we're going to have in a while. high clouds throughout the afternoon. temperatures will continue to drop throughout the week. also for your holiday tomorrow, it will be cooler. numbers get to run average on tuesday, so the first half of the week will be quiet. the second half of the week we're bringing rain chances in not only on thursday, looks like friday and saturday. so we still have our beach hazard statement with three to four-foot waves from sonoma to monterey. large breakers and strong rip currents a possibility. as we go through your forecast hour by hour, you'll notice we have some sunny beaches to start, but then by the afternoon that marine layer ramps up to about a thousand feet, then we've got the high clouds that should filter over the bay, so just in time for the blue angels. we'll call it partly to mostly sunny, then look what happens by 11:00 tonight. we have more fog, could still wake up to mist and drizzle for your monday morning commute.

temperatures today, as much as 10 degrees cooler in the city, so should be a nice afternoon, but with those high clouds and an afternoon sea breeze. looking at not only lots of sunshine, but we will be looking at another warm day in oakland. raiders, upper 70s, 1:25. highs around the bay today will be coming down certainly at the coast and around the bay with upper 70s in oakland, low 80s in fremont. santa cruz, we were at 90 yesterday. chance of rain in the north bay. looks like a soggy morning commute. saturday looks like a second system. chris, this should put out the fires all around the bay, particularly around monterey, so that's some great news. the accuweather sunny forecast, on columbus day we're cooler, back to average midweek. continuous clouds and some rain. >> welcome news for fire crews. just ahead, talk about a

hurricane matthew is now a post-tropical system, but despite the devastation it left behind, the news isn't all bad. this couple from illinois, for example, were determined to say they're i do's. their wedding was scheduled for an island off the carolina coast, but that was scrapped because of the hurricane. so they moved the ceremony inland to nearby wilmington and exchanged their vows in the flooded streets. the bride says the wet wedding is a good sign. it says they can work together and solve a problem. that happy couple can now qualify for the north american wife carrying championship in maine. yes, there is such a thing. men carry their wives over a 278-yard obstacle course complete with sand

here's lisa who is tracking the weather where you live. >> you can see our tower camera at the beach. temperatures will be 8 degrees cooler here today, and right now we're looking at numbers in the 60s for the most part. half moon bay, 65, 62 in san francisco, and a little hazy from the high tower, with low 60s right now in napa. the golden gate bridge will see fog later on this afternoon. by afternoon we've got high clouds, low clouds at the coast. temperatures out the shoreline as much as 8 degrees cooler. inland still warm, though, and more of a cooling trend for the holiday tomorrow. chris? >> lisa, thank you. developing news. a pleasant day in san francisco turned into panic for some as a yacht with 30 people on board capsized leaving two children in critical condition. this is go pro video of the chaos moments after the yacht turned over. a five-year-old boy was trapped under the yacht along with his dad. those on board the nearby fishing boat happy day rushed to help. >> it was on its side and then

it flipped all wait ovthe way o a lot of people were clinging to the hull. the stern of the boat, the back of it, went down. >> three children were taken to the hospital. firefighters are hopeful that they'll all recover. the incident is now being investigated by the u.s. coast guard and the san francisco police department. they want to know how the boat sunk so quickly with so many people on board. abc 7 news reporter sierra tano brings us the story. >> reporter: it was a 30-foot motor vessel. authorities are trying to figure out what went wrong. but darrell caras, the captain of the blue sky, one who went to help, is raising questions about the calisi. >> i saw a lot of what appeared to be kids to me. i don't know what their ages were. none of us saw anybody wearing a life jacket. >> reporter: one of the people aboard the blue star shot these

pictures of the rescue effort. they don't know if anybody on board was wearing a life jacket. >> we haven't determined at this time what was involved, who was wearing what. that's still under investigation. >> reporter: this turned out to be a massive rescue effort with multiple boats responding in minutes. of the 30 people who went into the water, three children were sent to general hospital. one of them, a five-year-old, was pulled from inside the cabin of the sinking boat and immediately given cpr by another passenger. he was taken to general hospital in critical condition. five adult passengers were rushed to area hospitals just as a precaution. emergency crews are praising the efforts of rescue teams and witnesses who sprung into action. >> this could have been really, really catastrophic. we had 30 people in the water with one of the days with more boat traffic on the bay than any other day, just about, during the year. >> reporter: all 30 people who went into the water survived. abc 7 news. new this morning, santa rosa police need your help

identifying the hit and run driver who left a woman with head trauma. here's a description of the vehicle. a late '90s to early 2000s white sedan. it's similar to a toyota corrolla with four doors. the driver is described as a female adult in her 50s and 60s. the victim is in serious condition. in palm springs, one man is in custody accused of killing and shooting two police officers. they were killed while talking to a man involved in a family dispute. authorities say the man was standing inside his front door when he opened fire. >> i have -- i'm awake in a nightmare right now. >> it took nearly 12 hours for officers to talk the suspect into surrendering. his name has not been released. as you can imagine, the city is engulfed in grief. officers walked the caskets of

their colleagues out to a hearse ahead of a trip to the coroner's office. a candlelight vigil also took place on the same street where the shootings took place. many people said they just needed to do something to show their sympathy with the department. vega, 63, was a 35-year veteran in the force planning to retire in december. the 24-year-old zerebny had just returned to active duty after giving birth to a daughter. hurricane matthew has been downgraded to a post-tropical storm. the storm has caused buildings to erupt into flames, as you just saw, and caused roads along the coast to collapse. a result of matthew. damage could rise into the billions. the storm has also dumped a foot of rain in north carolina. matthew has also flooded homes and businesses as far as 100 miles inland. turning now to your voice,

your vote. number 2 is set tonight in st. louis and the person in the crosshairs is donald trump. unearthed audio tapes shows him speaking crassly to women and several members of the republican party want him to drop out. trump said he'll never quit, and as for preparing for the debate, he said that's for the people who can't handle the exhaustive campaigning. >> do you really think she's prepping for the debate? she's resting. >> hillary clinton's campaign also faces questions following the release of hacked e-mails by wikileaks. messages revealed some of what clinton said during private speeches given to wall street executives. clinton shared how she favored open trade and open borders. clinton opposed those policies. clinton has collected more than $6 million in speaking fees and she's refused to release any transcripts of those speeches.

those speeches were brought up this morning by former new york city mayor rudy giuliani who is now a campaign adviser for donald trump. you may have seen him saying there is no excuse for donald trump with those newly released tapes. he said, though, had they not been released, the headlines would be about hillary clinton. he said it's time to move forward. >> the democrats are all sticking together with a candidate who looks like she sli vo -- violated a whole bunch of laws. she's apologized for it and it seems to me we should move on. >> giuliani also said trump understands that many republican leaders will be watching the debate very closely to see if his candidacy deserves to go forward. as you can see, there is a lot to cover tonight. abc's martha raddich.

you can also stream it on the abc 7 news app. train service on the long island railroad has been suspended after a computer train derailed after hitting a work train on the tracks. cell phone video from inside one of the train's cars shows passengers looking out trying to see what happened. the 12-car train derailed shortly after 6:00 our time last night. >> we derailed, and one of the cars actually -- the door ripped off. >> yeah, the door ripped off the train sideways. it took it off the rails. >> at least 29 people were hurt but none seriously. about 600 people were on the train when it crashed. still ahead on abc 7 mornings. what san francisco police are doing to make sure fleet week is as safe as possible s. plus, it's a picture that has more behind it. we'll have more after the break. first here's a live look outside of our east bay camera.

good morning, everyone. a live look outside from our south beach camera this morning. a fleet week is winding down. this is pier 3032 and a look at the u.s. san diego. lisa lets us know how warm it will get today in the full forecast. the silver and black host the san diego chargers at the oakland coliseum. kickoff is at 1:25 p.m. the niners played on thursday and lost to the arizona cardinals. in baseball, the san francisco giants are down but not out. they lost game 2 to the chicago cubs but they're coming home for game 3. here is mark schuman with all the highlights in this morning's sports reports. >> good morning.

the 2012 was down but beat cincinnati three straight in route to their second world series title. the g-men now down two games to chicago, but this year's cubs are better than the 2012 reds. mega cub fan bill murray enjoying himself. gave up four runs in two innings. a tremendous sliding catch to save a run but couldn't hang on. greg leblanc got his first hit since mid-august. the cubs won the battle of bullpens. travis wood crushes a home run on george conchos. gives chicago a 5-2 lead in the fourth and the high cheese strikes out gary tomlinson to win the game. they're down two games to one. >> got to win three now.

mid-7 mid-70s at our beaches today. should be sunny for the most part but then by the afternoon, some high clouds will drift across the bay. temperatures will continue to drop today. tomorrow for the holiday and then each and every day, in fact, by the weekend, we have two other systems that will bring us some rain. it looks like from thursday into saturday, and it looks like these systems should hold together and bring the entire bay area, in fact, down to the big sur coast, some wetting rain. from 2:00 this afternoon, we have the beach hazard statement. from sonoma all the way to monterey, dangerous rip currents here. we have large breakers to contend with once again, so be careful if you're out there. sunny to start. here's our hour by hour forecast. notice by 3:00 in the afternoon, just about the time the blue angels are out there, you'll notice the high clouds. then here come the low clouds from point reyes to the san

fernando coast. low 70s. this is where it should be. it should be a nice afternoon with a few high clouds, then tonight we'll be looking at those clouds increasing. in the south bay, a little change here. it's going to take another day. mid to upper 80s. highs about 76 in san jose. today low 80s, so you're down several degrees here in the peninsula. san francisco, 72 and up in the north bay, still mid-80s. a warm october afternoon but not as warm as it was yesterday with 78 in hayward. 81 in fremont. you head inland and we still have those upper 80s today in pittsburgh, 87 in pleasanton. tomorrow night, got to do it. cubs in town, dropping off to the 50s. this is what i wanted to show you. by thursday night, north bay could see some showers. friday morning could be a soggy commute. a break saturday and then saturday night our second system. accuweather forecast looking at a cooler columbus day, then we

the texas state bears have been in existence for 100 years, and richard boone first went to the fair in 1916 when he was just two weeks old. his mom, who worked at the maxwell coffee booth at the time, wanted to show him off. and since their home was right across the street from the fair, it was easy to make the visit an annual event. richard says when he goes to the fair and eats a corn dog, that's
