one thing we did notice is that the roots tore up the street. this is a 50-foot elm tree. i'm told strong wind knocked it over. i did speak with a man when told me his roommate thought it was an earthquake. he tells me that they feel lucky nobody was hurt. we heard from a woman whose friend witnessed it. he heard a crack and watched a tree split and fall down. it took the power line out. he's like holy. >> reporter: another look from sky 7. firefighters are here to move the three and they're going to determine factors that caused it to fall over. some branchs did damage a parked

>> reporter: 16 employees broke their silence today. >> looks like it's going great. the reality behind the scenes to the animals is a different story. >> reporter: phss senior vice president disagrees. >> i think it's safe for animals to come. >> reporter: she showed us max, doing well and offered an explanation. >> that dog had come in and clearly wanted to get out. you know was biting at the fence. >> reporter: employees say the injury could have been avoided. >> there was a hole in that kennel that had not been fixed despite the fact we asked several times. >> reporter: selter management says it fires employees who make mistakes. one employee was let go after a dog overheated and died in transit. >> rather than trying to fix the problem the officer was blamed for the death and fired. >> reporter: these employees want to meet with the phs president ken white but he says he'll only meet without union representation.

voters thanks to 10,000 new registrations today. a bay area billionaire announced after spending $13 million to register voters in california efforts added three quarters of a million new names to our voter rolls. kristin zee sat down with the san francisco man. kristin? >> reporter: meet tom stieer, worth $1.6 billion. he quit his day job to become a perfect gresive activist. now, he's digging deep into his pockets to support political causes. perhaps you've seen his ad in favor of prop 56, a $two per pack increase in the cigarette pack. there are speculations he may be building name recognition to set up a run for governor later. >> i'm tom stier. if we want to fight climate change, we need leaders to do something about it.

>> statewide office has not been ruled out. >> until we know what the best way to proceed is, there is more information and i can make a better decision. >> reporter: he has spent $150 million through his super pack next gen climate. his voter registration networks allowed him to collect data that could be useful if stire runs for governor. it's a crowded field, including former los angeles mayor antonio villaraigosa. >> i think tom stire's name is going to be into that mix. the money he is spending could suggest he may be a candidate for governor. >> don't forget, aroundald schwartzeneggar also backed credentials. another suggestion is a cabinet post. he says it is unlikely.

of the former faithful to stay away. taken together, this could have a big financial impact on the city and team. empty seats aren't good for moral. the hometown of levis stadium gets $8.9 million from a 10% surcharge on sales and collects a $5 parking fee and $0.35 for senior and youth programs. if the team continues to lose, so could santa clara. >> how many will default on their tickets? we've seen a large amount. how many will continue to default if the team is not managed properly. they're not being successful on the field. >> we asked the niners for key figures today but they declined saying they don't disclose them. to give you one example, we found numbers for two games this month. just over 12,000 vehicles parked at levis for the game against the cowboys, generating $60,000

for santa clara. number dropped to 9,000 against the cardinals and revenue fell $14,000. the acting city manager says he's not too concerned. >> there is lesser people, lesser purchases and the sales tax is >> the team's revenue stream and what santa clara does for it. the city's general fund might be touched.
